In this week's Hidden Figures message, Pastor RJ Ciaramitaro explores the story of Ebed-Melech — a little-known figure whose courage and compassion changed someone's life. As Jeremiah sat trapped in a pit, Ebed-Melech chose to stand in the gap when others stayed silent. But his rescue wasn't only practical; it was thoughtful. He lowered ropes to pull Jeremiah out, but also included rags so the ropes wouldn't injure him. It's a powerful picture of how truth and grace work together. This episode reminds us that helping people requires both strength and tenderness — conviction and compassion. We are called not only to speak truth, but to carry people with grace.

Today's lesson focuses on the first mention of the word "zealous" or any form of the word. Interestingly, the last mention of that word shows up in God's charge to those living in Laodicea. Unfortunately, there aren't many Phinehas' in Laodicea...will you change that?
On tonight's edition of The Mark White Show, I'm talking with Jerry Peters, a retired United States Marshal, 3x Operation Enduring Freedom veteran, and longtime crisis intervention specialist. The CopDoc Podcast - Season 9 - Episode 167What does it take to walk into four different agencies, each with its own culture and expectations, and lead effectively in all of them? Gina Hawkins has done exactly that — from the Atlanta Police Department where she came of age as a young officer, to Sandy Springs, Clayton County, Fayetteville, North Carolina, and now Cobb County's Sheriff's Office. Along the way she has learned that culture doesn't start inside the building. It starts with the community that either demands excellence or tolerates mediocrity. In this conversation, Gina shares the hard lessons she picked up at each stop — managing stress that nearly broke her health, losing custody of her daughter the weekend the moving truck arrived as she headed to take command in Fayetteville, and still walking into that organization and pouring herself into the work. She talks about what it means to develop leaders, why women belong in policing at every level, and why the absence of universal standards for 18,000 law enforcement agencies is one of the most pressing problems in the profession. This episode is candid, personal, and practical. There is perhaps no greater picture of a gap filler in Scripture than Moses. Countless times, he is found interceding on Israel's behalf before a holy God. A close examination of this reveals how close Israel was to a second or third world-wide flood. This begs to question: who in your life can be spared from judgment if you'll simply stand in the gap on their behalf?
Many are familiar with the battle plan of Gideon, few remember the circumstances of his calling. Tune in for the specifics concerning this gap-filler.
Before you can stand in the gap, you need to make up the hedge. Today, we look at someone in the Old Testament who decided to step outside of God's protection and boundaries and as a result affected his fellow brothers and sisters in their walk with the Lord.

Join Kosta and his guest: Trenton Strode, Vice President of Putnam County Young Democrats, District Representative of Putnam County Democratic Party and Candidate for Putnam County Commission District 11. In this episode: You're running multiple races in 2026. As we said earlier, you'll be seeking one of the two seats in Putnam County Commission District 11, but you've also announced and qualified on the ballot to run against Incumbent Ryan Williams for Tennessee House of Representatives District 42. Why? As our listeners might remember, last summer you were arrested and charged with a felony at the June 2025 Putnam County Commission meeting. Several months later those charges were dropped and you are now pursuing your own bid for Putnam County Commission District 11. We're not here to rehash the events of last summer, but I'm curious the impact it had on your decision to run and the explosion of democratic candidates running in our local 2026 elections? On social media the Putnam County Republican Party has taken every opportunity to link Putnam County Democratic Party, Putnam County Young Democrats and anyone that puts a (D) next to their name with as much political chaos and bad behavior as possible. You are one of the few, if at times only representatives to hold the line and call out this bad behavior. Why do you think our local republican party is so fixated with disparaging the opposing party when there isn't one Democrat currently serving in local office? Brian From speaks with Jeff Bradford, CEO and President of Human Coalition, about the organization’s frontline work reaching women who believe abortion is their only option and providing them with compassionate, practical support. Bradford explains how Human Coalition combines medical care, social services, technology, and church partnerships to remove barriers and empower women to choose life—often at the very moment they are seeking to terminate a pregnancy. Their conversation highlights a powerful truth: when women are met with hope, help, and a supportive community, life becomes a real and attainable choice.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” — Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV) In this powerful message, “Standing in the Gap,” Pastor Andrew dives into God's heartbreaking search for an intercessor — someone willing to step into the breach and contend for a people, a generation, and a nation. From the Hebrew word perets (breach, break, gap), we learn that a “gap” in Scripture represents vulnerability and spiritual exposure. Where there is a breach, the enemy finds access. But God's heart is always restoration — to repair the breach, rebuild the ruins, and restore what has fallen (Isaiah 58:12; Amos 9:11). In this message we explore:

You may never see the full impact of your ministry—but heaven does. In this episode of Youth Worker on Fire, Doug Edwards unpacks what it means to stand in the gap for students, families, and communities. Through personal stories of students who became pastors, thriving churches, and spiritual legacies years in the making, Doug shares how: ✅ Your influence outlasts your season of ministry ✅ "Standing in the gap" means becoming a bridge between God and people ✅ Long-term obedience builds eternal legacy ✅ God finishes what He starts—if we stay faithful to the call ✅ The seeds you plant today will grow in ways you never imagined
Who are you standing in the gap for? Discover the power of intercessory prayer to transform lives, churches, and communities, and how you can join Jesus, the ultimate Intercessor, in this life-saving work.
This week's focus is intercession — prayer that moves beyond personal needs to carry the burden of others and contend for God's purposes. In this season between senior leaders, God is calling our church to become intercessors. Intercession is not a job for a few “prayer warriors” — it's the call of every believer to partner with Heaven for transformation.
How do we stay hopeful in the face of despair and disillusionment—especially when politics threaten to tear us in two? Kate speaks with Parker Palmer, a writer, teacher, and activist. As you’ll hear, he has gone through seasons of deep clinical depression, and has hard-won wisdom to share with us on how to survive, how to regain a sense of agency, how to remain hopeful despite it all. In this episode, Kate and Parker discuss: finding agency in the midst of depression and despair (including his trick of redefining achievement) why it is important to recalibrate our sense of reality—especially in the face of 24-hour news cycles and social media algorithms how a broken heart can either shatter or break open into a larger, more compassionate way of being So on a day like today when we all might be thinking about the state of our nation or the state of our world or the realities at stake for our families and friends (....or perhaps, more tempted to keep our head in the sand to just make it through Thanksgiving), might we pull up close and listen to what Parker has to teach us about how to keep our hearts soft and remain hopeful, still. Ep. 277 — Standing in the Gap: A Parent's Prayer for their Prodigal Child with Dr. James Banks Few things break a Christ-following parent's heart more than watching a daughter walk away from her faith. In a culture where drifting and deconstruction are becoming all too common, it can feel overwhelming to know how to respond. Yet Scripture offers both hope and a blueprint: we serve a God who runs toward prodigals with open arms (Luke 15:20), and prayer is the bridge that can bring wandering hearts home. In this powerful episode, American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director Emeritus Patti Garibay welcomes Dr. James Banks—pastor, author, and devoted encourager of parents walking through prodigal seasons. With deep compassion and practical wisdom, Dr. Banks shares what it means to “stand in the gap” through prayer, how to show unconditional love without compromising truth, and why parents can persevere in hope even when change feels far away. You'll also hear practical encouragement for spotting early signs of drift, how to guard against despair, and why community and mentorship are lifelines for weary parents. If you've been praying for your prodigal daughter—or longing for strength to keep praying—this conversation will refresh your spirit and remind you that God is always at work, even when we cannot see it. Discover how persistent prayer doesn't just move prodigals closer to God—it transforms parents in the process.
