Two personal trainers discuss what real life looks like to a fitness professional. The like food and wine just as much as the next person, but how they keep the balance is the key to success in fitness and in life!

Lindsay has recently become very excited about marathon training and is preparing for her second full marathon (Chicago!). We’ll give some tips on training to become a runner and her experience broken down from HATING running to running 26.2 miles at a time, including specific exercises and techniques. The foods we eat around the holiday season are loaded with carbs and sugar and are delicious! They also can cause water retention even if you don’t gain fat. With the Christmas shopping season now in full swing, you may be walking past the supplement aisle thinking about the changes you’re going to make in the next few weeks. We have two very different lifestyles but the thing that keeps us on the same track in fitness is having a reason to do it. We love desserts and alcohol as much as the next person, and there are even times when we don’t feel like going to the gym. We like junk food, you like junk food. Let’s face it. But what is junk food and when is it ok to have? As the weather gets colder, you might have an urge to stay indoors more frequently and bundle up on the couch with your favorite pumpkin spice snack. This is the time of year we all tend to let the diet slide a bit more and we get a little less active. It’s like the ugly part of the fitness cycle is coming back around so that by New Year’s we start to feel guilty and shameful. The truth is that it doesn’t have to be this way! Let’s make some goals together to stay in shape through the holidays so that by the time you get to next year, there’s no reason to diet off all of the extra weight because it won’t be there. instagram.com/mostly.fit facebook.com/mostlyfit twitter.com/mostly_fit youtube.com/mostlyfit mostly-fit.com for coaching and merchandise!

Fall is officially in full swing this usually begins the time where we relax a little more on the calorie intake and get a little less active. But we say NO! October is our favorite time of year and that’s usually a turning point in people’s fitness as well. If your goal is to make a change in your body or your lifestyle, or anything else for that matter you have to make a plan and stick to it. Sometimes the road is going to be a little harder than others but is that any reason to make excuses or cut corners? Absolutely not! When it comes to fitness, the phrase “life happens” is legitimate but that doesn’t mean you can stay committed. In a rare moment, Lindsay has some choice words today! This is for all the fans. Dizzy challenged Lindsay to eat an entire jar of peanut butter while having a fun Friday afternoon watching Billy Madison. To be fair, Dizzy had a 26 ounce jar while Lindsay had a 16 ounce jar. Things get interesting as parts of the movie come up. Don’t feel guilty for enjoying yourself. Plan for it and never look back.
We don’t believe fitness is a short term thing and we don’t believe it should be a struggle. We also don’t believe that when you do something like eat delicious desserts or go on vacation, that you should feel guilty for that. If that’s the case, what was the point of doing it in the first place? To treat yourself should be enjoyment all around. Eat the cake, drink the wine, go hang with your friends and family, and don’t look back. Part of fitness is mental health. We tend to underestimate the need to clear our mind and rest our bodies but the two go hand in hand. Once you’ve taken care of the preparation stage and know when the main pieces are going to fit, you should also know when NOTHING is going to happen. It’s a wonderful thing to look forward to. The last month of summer we want to you to enjoy yourself. There are a lot of factors that go into being able to enjoy yourself while living a healthy active lifestyle. Our whole mission is to help you learn how to live life freely while still being healthy and feeling comfortable in your skin. Part of being able to enjoy your time is knowing that all of the necessary steps order to begin with. Handling the hard parts or the more serious things allows you to fully cut loose when the time is right. That could relate to meal prepping, getting the scheduled workouts done, doing the laundry…whatever your thing is. Life is meant for living but we definitely still have responsibilities. When beginning a fitness lifestyle or plan, we may be in search of results fast. Maybe you want to learn to lose weight in a short time but you’re not willing to give up your daily glass of wine. When it comes to fitness, we have to face the fact that women are different than men. This applies to how we hold fat on our body to how we respond to what kinds of training. The principles of exercise and nutrition are indeed the same but there are various facts about how our bodies respond to those that we must consider. Fitness is something that should matter outside the gym and its definition is different for everyone. Fitness is hard…but it’s not THAT hard! You don’t have to do any dramatic diets or workouts to get in shape. We have both struggled with it over the years because we are just as human as anyone else. The honest solution after testing everything else out has been finding balance. Workouts shouldn’t be super long, diets shouldn’t be super restrictive, and you should give yourself a break from everything once in a while. Instagram @mostly.fit Facebook @mostlyfit Twitter @mostly_fit Coaching and Merch! mostly-fit.com
Have there ever been times in life where you just needed some food? Life sometimes goes that way. For those moments, we like to be prepared. Whether it be meal prep or just having the right workout time planned, we want you to know that you don’t have to worry so much about those times where you’re away and outside your normal environment. We also went away on a weekend vacation and decided we’d use our real lives as examples of how to enjoy yourself while sticking to the long term plan. We’ve spoken on making lifestyle changes before and we’ve also talked about the need to change programs once in a while if you have adapted too much. Do you stick with it or make yet another change? We’re here to answer those questions! Follow Lindsay! @mostlyfitlinds Follow Dizzy! @TheDizzyParker Coaching and Merch! mostly-fit.com
The body positivity movement has gotten out of hand. Unhealthy lifestyles are being promoted far too much in the modern world and on social media. Whether you’re trying to transform your body for looks, feeling, or just to be able to be a badass you MUST have a plan.
