HEALTH NERDS. Mensch, einfach erklärt. I've been doing a liver cleanse with my wife for the past month or so. All it really entails is no sugar, no white flour, nothing fried. One glass of lemon water first thing in the morning, followed by a raw blended juice of carrots, celery and parsley. That's it! Yet it got me thinking about every fad diet people chase and abandon: keto, Atkins, paleo, etc. Sure, fast results but then you gain it all back, sometimes twice over. The fad never holds. And somewhere in my own kitchen, craving the very thing I know is killing me, it hit me — we do the exact same thing with our faith.Prosperity gospel. Word of Faith. The new apostles. The endless prophecy clickbait. They've become spiritual junk food — a quick high that leaves you starving and jumping to the next thing, worse off than when you started. This week's broadcast is about the one diet nobody can sell you, because there's no shortcut to advertise: the slow, steady, unglamorous meal of the Word and prayer. It's true sustenance, not a quick high. And it's the only thing that lasts!Grateful you're here.— Pablo------------------------------------------Subscribe to receive future broadcasts and articles at:https://www.serpentsndoves.com-------------------------------------------Share.Forward this post, repost it, or pass it along to someone who might need it.Support.This broadcast is listener-supported. Duncan Barkes puts Labour peer Lord Foulkes on the spot over past insults aimed at the late Ann Widdecombe, including David Lammy's "poisonous bigot" jibe and Wes Streeting's jab — and asks whether Reform UK's Zia Yusuf has a point. Labour peer Lord Foulkes dodges and takes aim at Yusuf instead. Elsewhere, Andy Burnham's imminent premiership faces scrutiny questions, before lifestyle economist Chris Snowdon and commentator Benedict Spence rage against the government's latest nanny state crusade — banning junk food billboards — and ask when Britain will finally push back against endless state interference. Julia Hartley-Brewer broadcasts on Talk from Monday to Thursday, 10AM to 1PM. Available on YouTube and streaming platforms, along with DAB+ radio and your smart speaker. Hosted on Acast. Some Americans are panicking at the recent so-called outbreak of "explosive diarrhea." The news is reporting hundreds of cases nationwide. But according to the AAFP, "acute diarrheal disease accounts for 179 million outpatient visits annually in the United States." So there is no sudden outbreak of disease, and the suppose culprit, the Cyclospora parasite, is only suspected but not proven to have caused the diarrhea. Strangely, a Meta data center recently dumped contaminated water into public sewers, spreading what they said was Cupriavidus gilardii, which can also cause diarrhea. Taco Bell, famous for its diarrhea aftereffects, has begun removing certain vegetables from their menu since produce is being blamed for the so-called outbreak. Whatever truth there may be to this should be overshadowed by the fact that produce is only contaminated because large scale in industrial farms often are polluted by animal agriculture, or animal feces is sprayed directly on the produce via collected water. Is it possible that this diarrhea is simply a byproduct of the poor American diet, severely deficient in fiber and burdened by excess protein. Both of these problems can separately cause diarrhea, but together are certainly essential cause. Other developed countries have a third the number of annual U.S. diarrhea cases. So what is happening?https://www.usatoday.com/story/graphics/2026/07/09/maps-explosive-diarrhea-outbreak-cyclosporiasis/90862952007/https://apnews.com/article/cyclospora-outbreak-michigan-31e5e0034d39e85c844065a2bd593ecbhttps://www.aafp.org/afp/2022/0700/acute-diarrheahttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/08/meta-datacenter-ai-wyoming-waterhttps://nypost.com/2026/07/09/lifestyle/taco-bell-pulls-ingredients-off-menu-as-explosive-diarrhea-parasite-cases-surge/?sr_share=facebook&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=nypost&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwY2xjawS9E9xleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETJuVDdFSUFWME1HWXF4U1dNc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHsE7Yg3iMVCLTmtIsf61LLM61x7QdmHwTLcDJjgZAG8eO4DkhF4mKH38-64b_aem_YV9NJe_qxxvUnK9FraFLbQ*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Dopamine gets blamed for everything from doomscrolling to snack attacks, but the real problem is that most of us were taught the wrong story. On this episode of The Brainy Moms Podcast, Dr. Amy and Sandy chat with biochemist and best-selling author of Dopamine Kids, Dr. Michaeleen Doucleff to unpack what dopamine actually does in the brain: it drives wanting, motivation, and the powerful “do it again” loop, even when the thing we're chasing doesn't deliver real joy. That single shift explains why kids can feel pulled toward screens, social media, and ultra-processed foods and still end up more dysregulated and less satisfied. From there, we get practical. We talk about “dopamine magnets” in a child's environment and why the best parenting strategy is not just taking something away, but replacing it with high-value activities that build competence and connection. You'll hear concrete ideas for swapping screen habits with hobbies, how to “ride the wave” of your child's motivation, and why tiny, permanent changes beat big resets every time. We also dig into the importance of context like car rides, mornings, and bedtime and how to hype offline activities so your kids actually want to do them.We don't stop at screens. We connect the same brain circuitry to ultra-processed foods, why snack products are engineered to increase wanting without providing satisfaction, and how changing what's stocked at home can change cravings and behavior fast. If you're trying to reduce screen time, improve sleep, support emotional regulation, and build healthier food habits without living in constant conflict, this conversation gives you a clear, science-based path forward.

He and his colleagues (Jennifer Howk and Richard Seidel) have developed a revolutionary method for approaching life challenges and improving self-confidence and self-esteem. They describe their approach as Esteem Dynamics — an approach with clinical insights derived from evolutionary psychology. Central figures having major influence on the development of Esteem Dynamics include Richard Dawkins, John Tooby and Leda Cosmides, David Buss, Robert Trivers, Steven Pinker, and Geoffrey Miller. All of these individuals are considered world-leading theorists in evolutionary theory and human psychology. Somewhat surprisingly, insights from these trailblazers has yet to reach mainstream clinical psychology, and thus major advances stemming from some of the world's greatest thinkers have yet to be systematically applied to problems of helping people improve their lives. Esteem Dynamics is the first such effort, and weds Dr. Lisle's 30-years of clinical experience to the deep insights into human nature only recently available via evolutionary psychology. Dr. Lisle received his undergraduate education from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Virginia, and was then appointed Lecturer in Psychology at Stanford University. A recent fast food ad from oversees had some people wondering why a model did not bite a hamburger. It seems like a strange controversy considering this a common practice; mainly because those food products are essentially props. But others noticed that the issue may be related to the quality of actress, not the food. Whereas oversees commercials often feature normal looking people, American ads seem to be increasingly showcasing certain groups of people, and the most unvttravitce within those groups. It turns out junk food companies specifically target those communities too with their advertising. We know that European products are better and Japanese ones match the package image, so why is none of this true in the US? Why are we ripped off with the weight, size, and look of products? Also, why is so-called shrinkflation now growing to include AI programs and other services?*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Scrolling. Porn. Gaming. Junk food.It all feels different, but it's the same loop.Short hits. No effort. No progress. You're not stuck because you're weak. You're stuck because your environment and habits are built to keep you there.Change the inputs, change the behaviour.Less friction to do the right things. More friction to do the wrong ones. That's where control comes from.In this audio I break down how to reset that loop and take your focus back. You can also watch it here: https://youtu.be/k3p1sbrWiLw
Did it feel like your gymnast was constantly asking for sugar, snacks, or “junk food” no matter how much you tried to offer balanced meals?Do meals feel like a struggle, leaving you second-guessing what you're doing? If this sounds familiar, you're not alone and it may not be what you think. In this episode, we're unpacking one of the most common (and misunderstood) challenges parents face: when your gymnast seems drawn to less nutritious foods.Because while it's easy to assume it's about habits or preferences, the root cause is often much deeper and often biological. From under-fueling to food restriction, to the way we talk about food at home, this episode walks through what's really driving these patterns—and how to shift them in a way that supports both performance and long-term health. In this episode, we cover:❗ Why the term “junk food” may be doing more harm than good and how food labels impact your gymnast's mindset ❗ The real reason behind cravings: under-fueling and biological hunger ❗ What happens to the brain and body when your gymnast isn't getting enough fuel (including insights from the Minnesota Starvation Study) ❗ How restriction, scarcity, and “FOMO eating” can increase cravings and lead to overeating ❗ Why all-or-nothing thinking around food creates more stress and inconsistency ❗ The importance of a balanced approach (B+ nutrition) that's actually sustainable ❗ How your home environment and language around food shape your gymnast's behavior ❗ Why satisfaction matters just as much as nutrition—and how to make meals more appealing ❗ The role of exposure, cooking, and involvement in building a healthy relationship with food ❗ Why role modeling your own habits matters more than anything you sayNot every craving is about willpower. Not every food struggle is about preferences. And often, when a gymnast seems focused on certain foods, it's their body asking for what it needs. When gymnasts are properly fueled and supported, they can:Feel more at ease around food Reduce intense cravings Improve recovery and energy Build a healthier relationship with food over timeThe goal isn't perfect eating. It's consistent, supportive nutrition that helps your gymnast thrive both in the sport and beyond.Links & ResourcesThe Balanced Gymnast® Program (Level 5–10)Connect with Christina on Instagram @the.gymnast.nutritionist christinaandersonrdn.com
The current state of the online fitness and wellness business landscape in 2026 is constantly changing—there are new shifts every day driven by AI, GLP-1 medications, economic uncertainty, and uncertain social media algorithms. In all the maybe, you have two distinct choices for how you run your business: the data-driven, automated "passive income" model built around low-ticket digital products, ads, and funnel optimization, versus the personal brand model grounded in genuine relationships, consistent value delivery, and audience trust. In Jill's experience, chasing passive income shortcuts often produces hollow, unsustainable businesses. While low-ticket offers and paid traffic have their place, coaches and entrepreneurs need to choose a path, and for most people, building a personal brand with real meaning and connection is not only more fulfilling, but ultimately more durable and lucrative in the long run. As federal food safety oversight weakens, Mary Basset, public health physician, former New York City Health Commissioner and New York State Health Commissioner, and professor of practice of health and human rights at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, discusses her push to get Albany to pass three bills that would expand nutrition warning labels at chain restaurants statewide and crack down on junk food ads targeting kids. Photo: The logo of a salt shaker, meant to warn consumers of high sodium content in food, appears on an Applebees menu on December 1, 2015 in New York City. The new sodium warning is the result of a city-wide law effecting restaurants with 15 or more locations and lets consumers know that an item has 2,300 milligrams of sodium or more in it. Restaurants must have the logo on their menu starting today. (Photo by Andrew Burton/Getty Images)
