As the baseball world enters the final month of the regular season, teams are all ready to make their final push to try and lock in their spot for the postseason. While the Wild Card spots have allowed more teams into the dance, some are still eyeing a possible division championship. With the Atlanta Braves being a mainstay at the top of the NL East, the Philadelphia Phillies, on their hot streak, look ready to make a move to the top of the division. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the Phillies' nine-game win streak after sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals and completing an incredible ninth-inning comeback on Sunday. Even though the Phillies and Braves will face off six more times before the season ends, there's a real reason to believe that the City of Brotherly Love is not ready to settle for an NL Wild Card spot just yet. Later in the show, Jake and Jordan talk about the incredible game from Randy Arozarena on Saturday, as well as Kade Anderson's debut in the same game and why the Seattle Mariners still have a good chance to possibly snag the AL West with their schedule the rest of the way. The guys then react to the breaking news that the Houston Astros are parting ways with GM Dana Brown, Shohei Ohtani getting closer to being back on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers and recap all the other action from this weekend in baseball. 2:15 - The Opener: Phillies on Fire 14:51 - We Need To Talk About: Randy Arozarena 27:38 - How Sweep It Is: Encouraging News for Dodgers 37:39 - Sweeps from the Weekend Recap 49:26 - Astros Part Ways with GM 1:00:02 - Turbo Mode: Weekend Recap Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

The Boston Red Sox have had a disappointing 2026 campaign thus far. With lots of hope and promise riding on the backs of their young starters, the team has struggled to get off the ground. However, this past weekend, they completed a four-game mop of their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees, and suddenly find themselves right back in a Wild Card race that appears to be up for the taking. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the Red Sox's impressive pitching performance against the Yankees, including shutting down the only team in the American League with a run differential better than +25. They also get into why there isn't a ton of concern for the Bronx Bombers, considering the team is struggling to keep key players healthy and on the field. Also on the show, Jake and Jordan welcome Sam Blum from The Athletic to discuss the Los Angeles Angels firing general manager Perry Minasian, whether it could signal a change for the franchise, or if owner Arte Moreno will continue to struggle to find direction for his team. The guys then get into the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. problem the Toronto Blue Jays are facing, the latest update to the Yahoo Sports Power Rankings and recap all the other action from around MLB this weekend. 1:25 – The Opener: Yankees get mopped 11:49 – AL East shakeup 32:02 – Sam Blum joins the show 42:47 – Where do the Angels go from here? 58:04 – Turbo Mode: The Miz keeps dealing 1:04:58 – Power Rankings update Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

Over the past few weeks I have been talking with so many mamas who are teetering on the edge of giving up on homeschooling. They are feeling discouraged and defeated, wondering if their kids would be better off somewhere else. Not necessarily because it's what is best for the kids, but because they are tired. Tired of fighting with their kids about sitting still or staying focused. Tired of no one listening, and constantly being interrupted. Tired of making all the decisions, just to have their plans thwarted. Tired of trying all day, day after day, and not seeing the progress they'd hoped for by now. In today's episode I'm sharing some of the coaching I've been offering these mamas who actually want to keep homeschooling, but don't want to keep dealing with all the hard stuff. We're focusing on progress over perfection. A rule for making decisions when you're feeling down. How to evaluate calmly and fairly so you don't quit on a bad day. And I'm going to share with you my prayer to filter your decisions during this season through the Holy Spirit. If you've been feeling discouraged in your homeschooling journey lately and need a little reset for your heart, some tools to keep on keeping on, and process to know if it's time to end this season of your life, please grab your earbuds and join me for: When to Quit, Make a Change, or Stay the Course. Healthy, positive relationships are essential for a healthy, positive life. This universal principle applies to all relationships, including work, family, friends, the planet, and our own bodies. We need healthy connections. So, stop and ask yourself: How do I feel when I think about my relationship with these things? Is there anything troubling me? Do I feel drained when I am around some people or doing certain things? Should I be working harder and making sacrifices to get along? Now, ask yourself: Do I like all music? All books? All food? All animals? Chances are, you don't. The reason for this is that everything has an energetic frequency – people, animals, books, songs, food, everything. So, if you do not feel good with certain people or in specific situations or places, it is because your frequency does not resonate well with those frequencies. This is like trying to like a specific song or genre when you simply don't! It doesn't matter how hard you work at it or how much you sacrifice to “get along.” The fact is you are not a good match. This leaves you with a choice. Either accept the disharmony and live with conflict or make a change and find a better match. Keep in mind, this does not mean there is anything wrong with the other person, place, or thing. It simply means that oil and water don't mix well.

Send Steve a Text MessageYou know that feeling when a year goes by and your playing sounds the same? We've been there—wanting confidence, freedom on the fretboard, and finished songs, yet slipping back into the same routines that never moved the needle. Today we draw a line in the sand and break the loop of repetition without intention, turning scattered practice into focused action that actually builds skill. We start by naming the real culprits: scrolling instead of focusing, collecting riffs but never finishing songs, and avoiding the parts of guitar that feel uncomfortable. Then we shift to what works. We walk through a clear, simple framework: pick one goal, commit to short daily practice blocks, lean into weak spots at a manageable pace, and prioritize phrasing, rhythm, and fretboard awareness over random licks. You'll hear how small, honest wins stack into trust, and how trust becomes confidence you can feel both on the fretboard and in life.Along the way, we connect the dots between mindset and mechanics. Old habits don't create new results, and confidence doesn't arrive by wishing. It grows from consistent, intentional reps and the choice to finish what you start. Whether you've quit before, feel too old, or think you're not talented enough, this is your clean page. Make 2026 the year you stop repeating and start becoming the guitarist you want to be—one focused session at a time.If you want support, we invite you to talk with us about Guitar Zoom Academy. No pressure, no card required—just a real conversation about what could help you move forward. In this episode, we talk about what it means to weather the storms of life well. Everyone experiences difficult moments throughout their lives and these storms come in all shapes and sizes. In each one, we have the opportunity to respond from a place of truth and peace instead of fear. We share practical ways we've learned to weather the storms in our own lives, from simplifying life to immersing ourselves in Scripture. We also explore how pain, though difficult, can lead us into deeper healing and communion with God. No matter what you're facing, you are not alone—He is near, and so are we.
