The highest honors bestowed upon any Lipscomb Academy student are Mr. and Miss Lipscomb. Chosen by the senior class, these students epitomize what Lipscomb Academy represents - joyfulness, acceptance, leadership, servanthood, follower of Christ. These two recipients join us today.
Eddie Garcia wears three predominant career hats: Producer Eddie for the nationally syndicated country music radio show The Bobby Bones Show, half of the comedic duo Bobby Bones & The Raging Idiots, and co-host of The Sore Losers podcast. His most impressive hat, though, is that of a father of four boys, two biological and two foster.
Assistant athletic director Scott Tillman and his son Bo Tillman, a 2020 alumnus, shared with us memories from the three-decade long connection with Lipscomb, as well as Bo’s hidden talent that came to light during his senior year at the academy.
A Riser House recording artist, Mitchell Tenpenny started writing songs and playing guitar when he was 13, and his talent and voice have opened many doors in the country music industry since. His debut single exploded on the airways in 2018, and he has been blazing his own trail since.
Founder and president of management firm KP Entertainment, Kerri Edwards is a proud Lipscomb Academy parent. Kerri is a well-known leader in the country music industry. Her first client in 2006 (and still one today) was Luke Bryan, recipient of the Academy of Country Music’s Album of the Decade Award and of Billboard’s Top Country Artist of the 2010s. She also manages Cole Swindell, recipient of the 2015 and 2016 CMA Triple Play Awards, as well as managing several other up-and-coming artists.
First-year teacher Ca’Layci Coffey joined the Lipscomb Academy 4th-grade teaching team last fall and has quickly adjusted to 4th-grade life. She also has many hidden talents outside of the classroom. Not only was she a D-1 collegiate athlete, but she was also an accomplished pianist at a young age. As our listeners will soon hear, she isn’t new to the Lipscomb family.
There are many new faces at Lipscomb Academy this academic year. They each have interesting stories and experiences. And because we want you to get to know all of us, we are kicking off a series of episodes where we invite our colleagues, both new and seasoned, to share the Mustangs Unbridled mic. So come Get to Know Us! Ken Robinson, an 18-year veteran educator, coach, and former Washington Redskins linebacker, joined the Lipscomb Academy administration team this academic year. He's a natural storyteller and is always listening for God's voice to direct his paths.
