Taylor Borton is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, storyteller, and artist whose distinctive vocals and eclectic sound blend elements of Country, Americana, and singer-songwriter. Drawing from these genres, she has developed an authentic sound rooted in real-life experiences that inspire her songs. Her voice carries a traditional warmth, balanced with an edgy, contemporary tone. Influenced by artists such as John Prine, Loretta Lynn, Brandy Clark and Lori McKenna, she brings a classic songwriting approach into a modern context. We sit down with Ohio singer-songwriter Kate Stanton to talk about “Rise,” a track inspired by the Greek idea of mania, the kind of love that looks a lot like limerence and fixation. Kate walks us through how the song came together, from early synth sketches to deep vocal layering, and why making music that feels immersive sometimes matters more than showing off flashy parts.A big thread running through our chat is remote collaboration done right. Kate and her German collaborator Tomas build songs through email, Google Translate, Dropbox, and a tight back-and-forth that keeps ideas moving without endless meetings. We dig into real home studio details: piano-first chord progressions, topline melodies, sending stems and MIDI, arranging in Cubase, and how programmed drums and bass can still feel alive when the goal is modern dream pop and atmospheric music. For more than 25 years, he has created unofficial Madonna remixes and reinterpretations while also cultivating one of the internet's most enduring underground Madonna remix communities through Remixers United, a fan-driven platform and social network that has connected remixers and music fans worldwide for over 13 years. But now, he's releasing his own debut album, "Last Night Wasn't Love "- a new collection of original songs developed as a cohesive late-night narrative inspired by his years living in San Francisco. We dig into Jaime's recent viral essay, “Why do so many big artists hate touring?,” which draws on her own touring experiences as part of the electronic duo Elite Gymnastics to explore how the music business seems to be in the midst of an experience economy arms race. Artists are risking serious money on ever-bigger spectacles, ticket prices keep climbing, and all roads — even for indie artists — seem to lead to Live Nation and AEG. Meanwhile, the psychological tolls of life on the road, combined with the near-constant surveillance of being a celebrity in 2026, has led to a growing wave of cancellations and burnout. All leading Jaime to ask: Is it time to let go of the idea of pop stars (or at least human ones) entirely?We dig into why touring seems to become more stressful for artists as they become more successful, what happens when scarcity pivots from music recordings to tickets, and how even early and mid-career artists are feeling the pressure to manufacture the illusion of endless growth. Jaime also raises a spicy possibility: If the music industry continues down this path, the future of pop stardom might belong more to animated or AI-generated performers in the mold of K-Pop Demon Hunters than real people.
