Episode FORE! hits the links with a new brand of ultra premium golf gloves! Nicholas talks with Adam Karger about his new company Scotch & Skins. This brand manufactures premium golf gloves in exceptional packaging and it is set to launch in the spring of 2021. Here's the interesting thing about Adam's business: he started this venture with no idea about how to make golf gloves. Is it possible to launch a business that builds and sells something that the founder can't make? The answer is yes! He had to find a partner in manufacturing that believed in his vision. It took time and effort but Adam figured it out. Learn all about it here. This episode also features the golf pun bell because Nicholas could not stop himself from making golf jokes.
Episode 3 goes to the factory to make new dolls! Nicholas talks about this with Dr. Lisa, the creator of The Fresh Dolls. Dr. Lisa was a first-time doll maker on a serious mission to make authentic black, brown, and multi-cultural dolls for girls and boys. This mission had her travel to factories in China that tried to convince her to make the "easy" doll. The factories wanted to re-use existing "sculps" and paint them brown. Dr. Lisa's story will show you how you can push back against your factory partners even when you are a novice in your field. What does it feel like to believe in yourself and your vision even if you don't have experience? How long does it take to see these things through? It's a phenomenal story that ends with a great payoff.
Episode 2 has some fun with board games! What do you do if your new object is an unexpected hit? What does it mean to capitalize on success? Nicholas explores these questions with ShipDaddy founder Joe Spisak. Before founding his 3PL, Joe created and launched a successful board game called Dicey. His experience running and shipping his own e-commerce product made him want to redefine the fulfillment experience for other entrepreneurs. Joe's story will tell you how he found a game developer without any prior experience, how he struggled with traditional fulfillment parters, and how he converted those struggles into a best-in-class customer experience for other his clients.
