The Heart Cry for Revival

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 16, 2026 50:24

The sermon explores the profound consequences of sin on God, others, and the individual to prepare believers for spiritual revival. It emphasizes that true revival requires meeting specific divine conditions: humbling oneself, fervent prayer, seeking God's face, and thorough repentance from wicked ways. Using the whiteboard illustration and historical accounts, the preacher highlights how sin grieves God and hinders His work, while also stressing that God is ready to forgive and heal when His people turn back to Him. The message calls for personal introspection and a decisive commitment to holiness rather than remaining passive or conditional in faith. Ultimately, it presents revival as God's faithful response to the sincere pursuit of His presence and obedience to His word.

Partners in Joy

Paul wrote these verses from a Roman prison, chained to a guard, 800 miles and ten years removed from the church he was thanking God for. Philippians 1:3-8 is one long sentence in the Greek, and it holds four reasons his joy never moved: the praise of joy, the partnership of joy, the promise of joy, and the passion of joy. The message walks back through Acts 16 - the riverside prayer meeting, the slave girl set free, the beating, and the jailer who washed the wounds he had helped inflict - because those are the memories behind "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." A long look at lukewarm Laodicea and its salty aqueduct draws the line between a believer who refreshes the people around him and one who makes them sick. If your joy rises and falls with your circumstances, this points somewhere steadier: the people God has joined to you in the gospel, and the God who began a good work in you and will carry it through to the day of Jesus Christ. It closes with four things to do about it - give thanks, give yourself, give God the glory, and give Him your heart.

The Bride Pattern

This sermon explores Genesis 24 as a profound narrative of divine providence and spiritual typology, illustrating how God orchestrates events behind the scenes to fulfill His purposes. The preacher analyzes the story of Abraham's servant seeking a bride for Isaac, drawing parallels to the Holy Spirit's role in calling and preparing the Church as the bride of Christ. Key themes include the sovereignty of God in human relationships, the importance of prayer, and the confirmation of biblical doctrine through historical patterns. The message emphasizes that seemingly coincidental encounters are actually divine appointments designed to draw individuals to salvation. Ultimately, the sermon encourages believers to recognize God's active presence in their lives and to respond with faith and boldness in sharing the gospel. Is Genesis 24 a picture of Jesus and the Church? Who does Abraham's servant represent in Genesis 24? Is Rebekah a picture of the Church? Does Genesis 24 contain a picture of the Rapture? Why is Abraham's servant unnamed in Genesis 24? What does Genesis 24 teach about finding a wife? Was Isaac and Rebekah's marriage arranged? Did Rebekah have a choice to marry Isaac? Why did Abraham's servant put his hand under Abraham's thigh? What does swearing on the thigh mean in the Bible? Why did Abraham send his servant to find Isaac a wife? Why couldn't Isaac marry a Canaanite woman? Why didn't Isaac go with the servant to find Rebekah? Why did Abraham say an angel would go before his servant? Did an angel help Abraham's servant find Rebekah? Why did Abraham's servant meet Rebekah at a well? Why did women gather at wells in Bible times?

It Is Time to Take Responsibility Again When Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem, he found a city with a glorious past but a disgraceful present. The walls were broken down. The gates had been burned. The people had learned to live among the ruins. They could tell stories about what Jerusalem had once been, but they had become accustomed to what Jerusalem had now become. The ruins were not new. The walls had been broken for generations. Nehemiah did not personally knock them down. He did not set the gates on fire. He had not created the original problem. On the Stockton High Street, the preaching proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the sole means of salvation, emphasizing that there is no condemnation for those who are in Him. It contrasts the inability of fallen humanity to meet God's holy standard with the perfect righteousness and atoning sacrifice of Christ. The preacher urges listeners to abandon trust in their own works or hearts and instead place their faith entirely in Jesus. Through the Holy Spirit, believers receive justification and a new nature that walks after the Spirit rather than the flesh.

Using Prayer in Spiritual Warfare

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 1, 2026 46:19

The sermon explores the reality of spiritual warfare, distinguishing between the internal conflict of spirit versus flesh and the external battle against satanic powers. Drawing from Job, Daniel, and Revelation, it illustrates how believers are engaged in a cosmic struggle against principalities and rulers of darkness. The central focus is on Ephesians 6, detailing the full armor of God as the necessary defense for standing firm against these spiritual attacks. Each piece of armor, including truth, righteousness, faith, and the Word of God, serves a specific role in protecting the believer and enabling offensive spiritual action. Ultimately, the message encourages persistent prayer and reliance on Christ's power to overcome the devil's schemes.
