This week, Kris welcomes LaVonda Paul, a trailblazing early childhood leader and fourth-generation entrepreneur, for an inspiring conversation about legacy, leadership, and the power of showing up. As the owner of Small Impressions Child Development Center in Taylors, South Carolina, LaVonda has spent 19 years building a community-first program. In the episode, LaVonda talks with Kris about how she's cultivated deep trust with families, built a rock-solid team culture, and gone all-in on advocacy, helping shape policy while showing up for children, parents, and educators alike. She opens up the community programs she's launched and why she might just run for office one day. This is a powerful look at what it means to lead with heart, purpose, and unapologetic commitment. Key Takeaways: [7:37] LaVonda shares the origin of Small Impressions, which she's led for 19 years. With 90 students currently enrolled, she prioritizes quality over quantity and deep relationships with families. [8:57] Her journey in early childhood education began at the Urban League of the Upstate and in after-school programs, where she realized the impact she could make by working with younger children. [10:13] LaVonda reflects on launching her center while going through a divorce, raising a one-year-old. Her leap of faith led to a thriving business — now co-run with her husband, Curtis. [11:40] Fun fact: LaVonda is afraid to fly, but that doesn't stop her from being a world traveler! [13:34] LaVonda details what sets her center apart: low staff turnover, deep parent engagement, teacher-parent conferences, onsite therapy, and advocacy for families. [17:27] She's active at the state level, working with lawmakers and Chambers of Commerce to advocate for childcare investment and workforce development in South Carolina. [18:06] LaVonda explains her entrepreneurial drive as generational — a fourth-generation business owner who didn't want to live with "shoulda, coulda, woulda" regrets. [19:41] LaVonda explains running her school like a real school, where she acts as more principal than babysitter. [21:53] Kris and LaVonda talk about the importance of taking ownership when mistakes happen. [31:59] Lavonda's advocacy work includes training for childcare workers, as well as expanded services and access for children with behavioral or developmental needs. [33:06] What's next for LaVonda and Small Impressions? Quotes: "I'm about quality as opposed to quantity. I don't want to pack out my classroom because I don't want to lose my sense of being able to connect with my students, um, being able to connect with my families." — LaVonda [8:10] "That speaks volumes within itself, that children and families believe in our program here, that they stay with us, five, six years. I have a family here that's been here for 12 years." — LaVonda [9:02] "I'm a risk taker. I'm gonna jump off that cliff. One or two things are going to happen, either God's going to catch me before I fall, or he's going to give me wings and teach me how to fly, but he's taught me how to soar." — LaVonda [10:40] "It's better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all. So why not try to create something special with my own ideas?" — LaVonda [18:32] "Take ownership when you screw up. Take ownership when you don't always get it right." — Kris [22:34] Sponsored By: ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI) Use code CCSC5 to claim a free course! Send in your music story!A birthday crown, a Charizard Loungefly, and a brand‑new Switch 2 set the stage for a wild ride through shiny hunts, DLC megas, and the strange magic of pacing a game you love. We get honest about Pokemon Legends ZA: the fun of guaranteed shinies, the feel of the world, and why the journey beats the postgame grind. Then the bombshells: DLC teases with Mega Chimecho, Mega Basculegion‑style reveals, Lucario Z, and a level cap blasting past 100 for the first time in 30 years. It's a shake‑up built for highlights, not homework, and we break down why that works.Life doesn't pause for play. We map out screen‑time rules for a toddler—TV as background, no iPad babysitting—and how handheld sessions fit into family evenings. The conversation spills into “What Grinds My Beans,” our running segment on everyday chaos: tapping gift cards like chips, slapping terminals instead of holding a card still, and the art of ordering without treating baristas like NPCs. It's funny because it's true, and it's useful because five seconds of patience can save everyone five minutes of hassle. Then we tackle the Black Friday saga: waking up at 4:30 AM for a hyped “first 100” Target bag only to discover tickets were quietly handed out hours earlier. What counts as a fair promotion, and what does a brand owe the people who show up in the cold? Sprinkle in some adulting—brake rotors, oil change myths, and the difference between a maintenance reminder and a warning light—and we land on a theme that ties it all together: plan well, play smart, and fight for transparency.Big news: we're launching two new shows. The Dark Side of Music with Danny Otto digs into true crime across music history—Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, Tupac, the 27 Club, and beyond. Off The Record brings loose, in‑person conversations, games, and the kind of banter that made you hit play today. If you've missed our chaotic energy, you'll love where we're headed next.If you enjoyed this one, follow and share with a friend who loves Pokemon, barista rants, or retail war stories. Recorded: December 3rd 2025 | Welcome back to another episode of Inside The Bus. We are back after missing last week for the holidays so we decided to recap what each guy did over their break. Jack went to Atlanta, Coop went home to Texas, G hit the lake, JP went home and unfortunately saw South Carolina lose and Mitch went to Taylors. Mitch also gets into how he got suspended from his flag football league, let us know in the comments if you think the suspension is justified. After the boys recap their breaks, each of the guys run through their Spotify Wrapped, except Matt because he has Apple Music. Enjoy the Friday hang with the boys and as always, much love. We are so thrilled to have our friends Taylor Strecker and Taylor Donohue join us (mere weeks before having a baby) to discuss all the things – their decision to have kids even though one partner was unsure, choosing a sperm donor, how they picture their lives changing, and more. We also discuss opposites attracting and whether two main characters can be together, when your partner posts non-approved pics of you, feeling like your friends' careers are outpacing yours, if magicians are hot or not, and the lore between Taylor Strecker and Kate Bosworth. Before the Taylors join us, Ashley has updates on the egg carton and wedding gift bags, and Rayna shares why Etsy keeps canceling her orders. Enjoy! This week on the TGI Podcast, we're talking the Season 7 Home Improvement episode “Thanksgiving,” where the Taylors head to a Lions game, cross paths with Rodney Dangerfield, and still manage to squeeze in plenty of holiday chaos. As always, we'll determine if it should be a holiday classic—tune in!
When it comes to managing your money, should you trust family — or is a fresh set of eyes the smarter move? From parents who jokingly say they’ll “move in” if their advisor-son loses the money, to widows who struggle to trust anyone new, the Taylors explore the emotional, practical, and financial challenges of working with someone who shares your last name. They discuss why trust can’t be assumed — it must be earned — and why experience, objectivity, and the ability to have tough conversations matter more than familiarity. Whether you’re considering hiring a family member or wondering if it's time to step outside your comfort zone, this episode will help you think more clearly about trust, transparency, and choosing the right guide for your retirement journey.

There are a ton of videos circulating right now with music theory pros highlighting the technical aspects of Taylor Swifts latest album. While I think its great that these elements are getting coverage, I also think it's important that you don't need to have a high proficiency in music theory to write great songs. In this episode I share a story about my music theory journey, and how sometimes being open to new things, and not worrying about what you don't know can open doors to new creativity. I'd also like to know from the Swifties out there.....what is Taylors theory background? Obviously she's highly skilled in music and writing, but does it come from training or creativity or both?

Taylor Swift's latest album The Life of a Showgirl has fans dissecting every lyric for hidden meanings but one track, Wood, is far less subtle. The song appears to reference Travis Kelce in a bold way, and he’s officially responded. As for what she’s really singing about… well, we didn't know she was such a fan of trees!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
