It's so discouraging to find oneself beaten at the first skirmish. (Josemaria Escriva, The Way)
There are very few men who realize what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves entirely to His hands and let themselves be formed by His Grace” (St. Ignatius of Loyola).

appy New Year! No, it is not January 1! The liturgical year does not match New Year's Day, the beginning of the calendar year, nor July 1, the beginning of the fiscal year for many organizations. The Church year is distinctive. It always begins on the first Sunday of Advent, and with it comes a shift in the cycle of readings. The feast of Christ the King signaled the end of Ordinary Time. Advent is the four-week liturgical season that precedes Christmas. The term “Advent” is derived from the Latin word adventus which means “coming,” and it focuses not only on the past coming of Jesus on the first Christmas; but also on the present coming of Jesus in the gospels, the sacraments, other people, prayer, love, truth, and personal experience; and the future coming of Jesus at the Second or Final Coming at the end of the world, the Parousia or the Last Judgment. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
As a free and rational creature, man can choose good or evil. We have thus also considered what is good or evil, so that we can help to determine what is proper for man to choose. We have discussed many of the particulars of the law, of virtue and vice, of moral decisions, of grace and of moral issues that we face in modern day. Perhaps an obvious point that we have not fully elaborated yet is the why of moral living. Yes, because we should choose good over evil. Yes, because God has revealed to us what is good and even written it upon our hearts. Yet, does that really answer the question? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
The key is trust. Do you trust God enough to let Him take the lead? And if, at first, His gentle invitation does not make sense, are you willing to embrace His will and say “Yes” every day? For the person who surrenders all, especially when life is good, the future will become even more blessed in a far better way than could ever be imagined. Perhaps not in a worldly way, but certainly in a far better way since it will produce the good fruit stemming from a life filled with an abundance of grace. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
We have God's divine law, which has been revealed to us to guide us in truth. We have the natural law, written upon our hearts and assisting us in recognizing true good. We recognize civil or human laws, specifically those that cooperate with or at least do not break God's divine and natural law. The Church is God's chosen means of leading his people to better understand and live his divine and natural laws. When the Magisterium presents to us precepts of our faith, doctrines which we are to profess, these teachings are further elucidating what God has already given us with the fullness of revelation in Christ. The truths proclaimed are not “new,” but rather, the proclamation is “new” for the specific culture or generation. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
In this world of extremes, it all boils down to stuff. We glorify it, can’t stop buying it, seek it out, idolize it. But it’s a dead end, and people are starting to figure that out. Minimalism is really starting to make an impact and people are discovering the incredible freedom that comes with letting go of excess. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
Being able to relate the story of salvation in a clear, concise, and compelling manner is essential for not only teaching the faith, but for understanding how to read Scripture. It is only by having this “big picture” that we understand the Bible in its unity and are thus given access to the divine dimension of Scripture. Only then can we interpret particular passages “in same Spirit that inspired” them. Augustine and others have given us helpful guidelines for picking out the “critical historical turning points” so that we don’t get bogged down in the details and so that we don’t bog down others. Moreover, Augustine has reminded us time and again that the Bible is God’s love letter to his beloved. It is God’s living word which calls us and courts us and which invites us to fall in love with the God who loved us into existence so that he might draw us into a communion of Love and so that we might share in his divine nature. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support

The more I abide in His friendship, the more I am able to see friendship as an overflow of His love. The more I see myself as the beloved, the more I am able to embrace people as Christ does, without destructive expectations. How fitting that in the grand story of salvation, then, wounds are not erased, they become tools that God uses to tell His story, bringing Hope. As Christ continues to heal my heart, I’m learning to ask: How can I love like Him? How can I be that true loving friend? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
In the Gospel of Saint Matthew, we read about the Magi who followed the star of Bethlehem in search of their King. They traveled a great distance to greet and serve Him, do we do the same? Who are you listening to and reading, and do you feel uplifted after doing so, or do you feel deflated? What are you watching on your screens? Is it something that rejuvenates you or does it feel like you’re getting pulled into a black hole? Where are you when you’re listening to a podcast or scrolling through the news? Is it an appropriate time set aside, or does it become a wall between you and whoever is around you? When are you focused on these things, does your prayer come first, or does scrolling through the news become your instinct when your morning alarm goes off? Take the time to evaluate the who, what, where, and when of what you are intaking. Discernment is key for making wise and godly decisions, but it takes time to mature and cultivate. Like Paul mentioned in Hebrews 5:14 it is like solid food for a child verses spiritual milk. Rely and press into the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Word of God, and seek counsel from those who know the Lord well when striving to discern holy truth. The Lord is ever seeking to guide us for His best, and it is through discernment that we can be embraced into such a path. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support
Today’s episode is a really good one, we talk all about the basics of morality and what forms our morally good acts and morally bad acts. This topic is really important to me because of the subjective world in which we live where we are faced with a relativistic standard when it comes to morality. I’m excited to share my perspective with y’all to help you find ways to be a independent thorough and morally sound thinker. What I'm sharing with you in this episode is an exercise that I've been practicing lately and it's been helping me find clarity in what things I'm doing in my life that are not aligning with who I want to be, with who I'm working to become. I really believe in the power of always learning and growing because I want to be a better version of myself. I want to be increasing, getting closer to God in my faith. This is kind of like a pep talk and an idea you can take action on at the same time, and I think it's going to give some of you some real clarity.
