Today, Pastor Brandon begins our Advent Series "Behold the Lamb"-In today's sermon, he defends that Jesus was the prophesied child, but he also shows how dark things had gotten in Israel. That helps us understand just how much they needed the light of Christ. This is also a reminder of how God keeps His Word. Even if it takes centuries, His Word will not return void. Isaiah 9:1-7

In week two of our Advent series, Laura and Rebecca reflect on the theme of peace, not as the absence of noise or activity, but as the deep assurance that God is near in the midst of chaos. Using the free Advent Reflection Guide, they share practical ways for care leaders to slow down, center themselves, and reconnect with God, even in the busiest season. Through breath prayers, hymns, and daily prompts, this episode is a gentle reminder that leaders are invited to experience peace, not just extend it to others. Quotes "Peace is the confidence that God is near, even when everything feels chaotic." — Rebecca Bailey "As leaders, we have access to peace too. We don't have to neglect our own peace in service to others." — Laura Howe "In the space between noise and silence, we find the chance to truly listen and connect." — Rebecca Bailey "The goal isn't to give you more to do—it's to tend to your weariness and offer a rhythm of restoration." — Laura Howe "Christlikeness is an achievable goal, even in the middle of the mess." — Rebecca Bailey Resources Advent Guide Care Ministry Cohort Connect with Hope Made Strong Website: HopeMadeStrong.org Socials: Facebook – Instagram – Twitter – YouTube
Sunday sermon 11/30/25
Advent is here! Today kicks off a brand-new series on OOBT: God With Us. For the next four weeks, leading right up to Christmas Eve, I'll be re-airing past Advent episodes—and I'll be listening right alongside you, my OOBTers! In this episode, we trace Old Testament promises and prophecies of the Rescuer who came down to the Israelites in Egypt, just as our Rescuer came down to us in the form of a baby in a manger. The gift of that baby in the manger is incredible, but even more amazing is the mystery of our Savior's presence forever with us through the Holy Spirit. God With Us isn't just a moment in history—it's the reality of Emmanuel now and forevermore. As I listened back to this one myself, my heart was reminded just how much I needed the very words I spoke into the mic so many Advent seasons ago. I pray it does the same for you as we begin this journey together. Please be sure to check out the show notes—they're filled with special Advent bonus content and helpful links! So wherever this season takes you, I so hope you'll listen in and be reminded: our Emmanuel came down, and He is still God With Us. Always. ❤ For the full episode show notes, please go to https://mfahring.com/god-with-us-advent-2025-rescue-came-down-his-name-is-emmanuel/

What are you really waiting for this December? Not the polished answer—the honest one. What's keeping you up at night? What's making your spouse anxious? In this first episode of our 4-part seasonal series, we explore the three types of hope that show up in marriages during the holidays: Security (Will we be okay? Will we have enough?), Connection (Will everyone get along? Will anyone feel left out?), and Intimacy (Will we stay close intimately or sexually)? Will we lose each other in the chaos?). You'll discover why you and your spouse are often "waiting" for completely different things this season, and why that difference creates so much tension. More importantly, you'll learn how to honor both longings without making either one wrong, so you can actually experience renewal together instead of just surviving until January. Whether you're the one watching the budget, managing family dynamics, or protecting your marriage connection, this episode will help you name what you need and understand what your spouse needs too. In this message, we explore The Magnificat, Mary's Spirit-filled song of praise in Luke 1, and discover why the church has long celebrated it as a powerful declaration of God's greatness. Tracing the foretelling of John the Baptist, the announcement of Jesus, John's first testimony, and Elizabeth's blessing, we see what prompted Mary's worship and why her response stands in contrast to Zechariah's disbelief. Mary magnifies the Lord for His personal mercy, His justice toward the humble and those who fear Him, and His faithfulness to Abraham and His people across generations. This sermon invites us to join Mary in a life of reverent praise as we trust the God who scatters the proud, lifts the lowly, and remembers His promises forever. For upcoming events and important announcements at Skyline, visit our Facebook page for the latest details! If you'd like to check out more resources, get to know Skyline Church, or donate to our ministry and missions please visit www.skylineofallon.com. In this special Advent episode, Laura and Rebecca introduce a new free resource designed to help ministry leaders slow down, reflect, and find restoration during the hectic holiday season. This Advent series centers on nurturing leaders through the four themes of Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. With daily breath prayers, scripture readings, hymn reflections, and photo prompts, this guide offers a meaningful way to tend to your own soul. Whether done alone or with your team, this is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the faithfulness of God. Quotes "God's refreshment is for leaders too. We are invited to the table, not just setting it for others." — Rebecca Bailey "Hope isn't wishful thinking. It's trust that God is already at work—even when we can't see it." — Rebecca Bailey "It's hard to pull myself out of the frenzy, but restoration is possible and available if I pause." — Laura Howe "This Advent guide is not passive. It's an invitation to actively invite the Holy Spirit to work within us." — Rebecca Bailey "When we're frantic, we lose sight of the hope of Christ. But breath can bring us back to God's nearness." — Laura Howe Resources Advent Guide Care Ministry Cohort US Amazon Store CAN Amazon Store Connect with Hope Made Strong Website: HopeMadeStrong.org Socials: Facebook – Instagram – Twitter – YouTube

In this message, "The Gift of Forgiveness," Pastor Joel Sims takes us on a journey to see that God wants to have compassion for even the worst version of yourself!
For many of us, belief isn't always easy. Life throws curveballs. Promises don't pan out the way we thought they would. Secularism raises doubts in our minds. It's hard to reconcile the joy we sing about this time of year with the struggles we face in our day-to-day lives. But belief doesn't always start with clarity. Sometimes, it starts in the messiness of life, when everything feels out of alignment. That's where Christ finds us. That's the story of Christmas. And that's where this episode begins—by looking at faith not as a perfect, clean answer, but as a journey. A journey that's deeply personal, sometimes hard, but always transformative. Today, I'm sitting down with Dr. Tom Neal, to discuss the origin story of his faith life. Tom is a brilliant mind, a loving soul, someone who has dedicated his life to teaching the gospel, but like all of us, has had a journey. Tom's story—from questioning faith to experiencing a profound, life-changing encounter with Christ—reminds us that joy and belief can exist, even in the hardest moments. This is a vulnerable and candid episode about how we encounter Christ and why we still believe amidst hardship. So, sit back and let this story unfold. Because as we reflect on this Advent season, this isn't just about belief in theory—it's about what happens when belief meets real life. As always, please leave questions in the comments. Today, I reflect on the greatest Christmas movie of all time, It's a Wonderful Life and what it teaches us about hope, healing, and finding meaning in life's challenges. George Bailey's story is all of us—navigating dreams, disappointments, and the tension between personal desires and the needs of others. It's a story of sacrifice, resilience, and ultimately, grace showing up in the most unexpected ways, like misfit second class angels. This is the second part of my Advent series on Hope and Healing, last week we talked about acceptance (please check out that episode). This week focuses on the surprising ways God comes to us, which is the central reflection of Advent – the miracle of the incarnation and the reminder that God shocked us all as a baby in the manger. So, grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's reflect together on the gift of Advent, the power of acceptance, and the surprising ways divine providence manifests in our lives. This Sunday, Pastor Jon Tyson continued our Advent Series with a teaching on Jesus as the Son of Man. During the Christmas season, we often tell stories of hearts changing for the better, but what does it take for a heart to truly change? In our teaching text from Matthew's gospel, two disciples' mother ask Jesus to grant them seats of honor in His kingdom, but Jesus disrupts their understanding of greatness, servanthood, and sacrifice by showing them the path to true greatness—through hearts that are changed through humility.
In his message "Wise Men Honor Jesus with Their Gifts", Pastor Joel Sims shows how you can worship Him with your treasure, knowing you can't outgive Him.
Well, here we are. Advent. And today's episode is the beginning of a four-part series on Advent, that will teach how to make this season into one of healing and hope. And we begin our reflections by unpacking the term acceptance. As we enter into Advent, I want to ask: are you struggling with accepting the year that has been? Have things not worked out the way you wanted, and are a little unsure how to surrender it to God? If so, I'm happy you found this episode. Joining me on the podcast, to help unpack acceptance is Steven Hryniewicz, a skilled practitioner in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT. Steven and I talk about how ACT encourages us to drop the struggle with difficult thoughts and emotions, giving us the freedom to focus on what truly matters. We examine how ACT can help us embrace psychological flexibility and align our actions with our values. We also dive into how Advent, as a season of both light and darkness, beginnings and ends, mirrors the therapeutic journey of finding meaning and grace in all parts of life—even the painful ones. Whether it's managing anxiety, processing grief, or finding happiness, this episode offers practical insights and a fresh perspective for the season. If you're ready to embrace this Advent with a renewed sense of acceptance, hope, and purpose, then this conversation is for you. Let's go!
