The story of Samson is a powerful reminder of God's calling, our human frailty, and the relentless grace that pursues us even in our failures. From the very beginning, God set Samson apart for a unique purpose, calling him before he was even born. This divine calling is not exclusive to Samson; each of us is intricately formed and called by God for His glory and purposes. Yet, like Samson, we are faced with the daily choice: will we follow God's will or our own desires?Samson's life is marked by a cycle familiar to many of us: a clear calling, a tragic fall, a return to God, and then, heartbreakingly, a return to sin. His story reveals that the real battle is not against external temptations, but the internal struggle of whose will we will follow. The heart, as Scripture says, is deceitful and unreliable as a guide. When we let our desires chart our course, we inevitably drift from God's best for us. The analogy of the compass that points not to true north, but to whatever we want most, illustrates how easily we can be led astray if we are not anchored in God's Word.Despite his repeated failures, Samson's story is ultimately one of hope. Even after his greatest defeat—blinded, imprisoned, and humiliated—Samson turns back to God. In his final moments, he calls out for God's strength, and God responds, restoring his purpose and fellowship. This restoration is not just for Samson; it is a promise for all who return to God, no matter how far we have wandered.Chapters[00:00] - Welcome[01:00] - Next Gen Ministry and Summer Recap[03:30] - VBS Vision and Invitation[06:45] - Introduction to Samson: Why This Story Matters[09:30] - What Is a Judge? It's been too long since the last IL Preps Podcast, so IL's Dan Kaplan and Terry Foy hop on the mic to catch up on: Maverik Showtime Prime Time Summer Invitational Great 8 Best in Class In addition to naming more than 100 standout players from those four events that have highlighted the start of summer so far, Foy argues why the No. 1 ranking in the Class of 2027 is more wide open than any other since the recruiting rule changes, and Kaplan reveals the No. 1 team in the Final Q-Collar National High School Rankings, which will formally drop next week.
Tonight's Knicks-Pacers Game 4 is being hyped as another "biggest game in 25 years." A caller who caught Boomer's football from Friday weighed in, and questions arose about how "furries" got into Citi Field. Jerry's update covered the Knicks-Pacers preview and the Thunder's 3-1 series lead over the T-Wolves. The Yankees beat the Angels again, with Anthony Volpe hitting a 3-run double, as heard on Dave Sims's call. Jerry also shared audio from an Australian radio show about short-lived marriages. The Mets secured their third straight win. A caller even wondered if Phil Simms is a fox furry. The hour concluded with talk of the "Kickoff To Summer" with Chris Lane and more anticipation for the Knicks game.
The celebration of Taylor Swift's birthday on December 13th was a huge success. The show put on by Cruel Summer was amazing. They had a pre-party, an after-party, and backup dancers. Everything went off without a hitch, except for when Moose walked in on two 20-year-olds in the middle of changing, making him look like a creep for not knocking even though he was just trying to find the band to hang out with them before the show. The talented artists along with Moose and Breezy sang happy birthday to the pop star in front of 600 people and this is just the beginning of public appearances and events for Moose and Breezy, which is news to him.

LFTR Episode 76 - Now that we are settled in at home it's time to recap the summer that was! We try to walk backward through our week at home in Leavenworth. Then we talk favorites, biggest surprises, and things we'd do differently next time from our Great Lakes Summer of Song.Highlights include:* Ponderosa pines smell WONDERFUL!* If you make it easy for us, we'll buy a car. Even if we haven't driven it yet.* Jamie got another new job! (Podcasting doesn't pay the bills)* Housing costs are so, so high now.* The joy and pain of school scheduling * We zig-zagged everywhere this summer - some planned some not* This happens so much for us to go to events, see family and friends, etc.* We kept this trip despite establishing a home base in WA* No leaf peeping for us!* More challenging travel than our Alaska summer?* Humidity is evil* Favorites: upper Midwest, music and theme parks!* Surprises: Great weather at pictures rocks, unplanned Wisconsin stays and bike trails* Favorite concerts: Noah Kahan in St Paul, braving the rain with the kids at Railbird, a spiritual experience at Mt. Joy in Toronto * Do differently: one or two concert plans in a summer is enough, in fact fewer firm plans in general is nice, skip Madeline Island in June, cheap and free stuff is often more fun* We say it's quicker to go to Vancouver than Deception Pass from Leavenworth. At least with normal traffic, it's not.* Best Great Lakes summer: Minnesota North Shore, Wisconsin, Michigan including UP, Chicago, Cedar Point if you're into thatLinks:* Icicle Gorge Trail* Subaru Solterra* Our summer of song itineraryThanks for listening!
