EPISODE 67What is it like to actively discern one's personal vocation and take the steps to follow that discernment in real life? This episode is a live recording I made after I realised I have been holding back on fully acknowledging the new direction God was asking me to take. In this episode I trace the milestones and turning points of the journey I have taken so far as I follow God's "breadcrumbs" from being an aspiring academic to full time lay pastoral minister in church to budding entrepreneur, content creator and clarity coach for those seeking to know and live the unique life God created and gifted them to live.Share this episode via this episode page.CHAPTER MARKERS(00:02:28) - Personal Vocation(00:04:46) - Introduction(00:08:37) - My Milestones & Background(00:12:18) - 1. This latest podcast is a little delayed as this last week has seen the return of COVID to the house (my husband this time), and although he seems to have come through ok, the disruption that illness always brings with it was in full force. The grace though was that this situation caused an essential lesson of life to be on display in the midst of it, so this week's Food for the Head, Heart, Hands and Feet is designed to help you remember and live out the reality that "God is God, and I am not." In this episode, Christina speaks about: Why being present to others in the midst of their suffering helps us What is one of the best ways to deepen our appreciation for the Eucharist How growing in knowledge of God is really about knowing ourselves May this podcast help inspire, encourage and accompany you in doing WHATEVER IT TAKES so that you may continue to grow in holiness, so that we may tell the Master of Death, “Not Today!” Click below to get more information about the upcoming Personal Vocation and Leadership Mastermind. https://christina-semmens.mykajabi.com/personal-vocation-and-leadership-mastermind-1 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sayyestoholiness/message
This week's Say Yes to Holiness podcast 1:1 Conversation is with Dr. Joshua Miller, co-author with Luke Burgis of Unrepeatable: Cultivating the Unique Calling of Every Person (2018), contributing author to The Motivation Code (2020), and the Executive Director of the Inscape Center for Personal Vocation. Joshua and I had a truly enjoyable discussion about his own journey and how that has been instrumental for his passion for creating a culture of personal vocation and a driving force behind the latest initiative of the Inscape Center--the Missions Program. Joshua a leader in the field of narrative based motivational assessment, and for the last 18 years he has applied his expertise in a variety of applications, including executive search, organizational development, and talent management. His long standing desire to understand and help people develop their unique giftedness led to an MA & Ph.D. in Philosophy of the Human Person. He continues to effectively integrate learning from this study into his coaching and consulting practices. Joshua also helped build The Center for Leadership at Franciscan University of Steubenville where he currently serves as a vocation coach and vocation coach trainer for faculty and staff of the institution, and then he was a Co-Founder of Inscape Vocation with Luke Burgis which is responsible for the Missions Program. The Missions Program is designed specifically for young adults ages 18 –23 who want to do hands-on missionary service in a community context while growing in self-awareness and exploration of their unique, personal vocation. Joshua and I spoke about the specifics of the Missions program, and how it will serve to fill a gap being experienced by many young adults in our world today, but it was in the context of how it is that knowing the fullness of the truth regarding the Church's teaching about personal vocation is absolutely crucial for our own experiencing the life of freedom, peace and abundance that our God desires for us. I have discovered over the years that my conversations with Joshua are always illuminating, inspiring and serve to challenge me to do more to help others embrace the lives God created them for, and I can attest that this one was no different. I hope that you, too, are inspired to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to live out the fullness of your personal vocation each and every day and help those around you to do the same. Dr. R.J. Matava, who was previously a Liddon Fellow at Oxford's Keble College, presented a talk titled “Conversion and Apologetics: Personal Vocation as a Key to the New Evangelization.” Positing that holiness of life is essential for apologetics, Matava treated the nature of apologetics through a theological and historical lens, looking at what it needs to be effective within the New Evangelization.“While the original evangelization generally brought the Gospel to the pagan world, the ‘new evangelization' must bring the Gospel to a world described by some as ‘post Christian,' and not least to people who are baptized but lack faith,” said Matava. “What then is the most urgent task of a new apologetics for the new evangelization? I would suggest that it is to cultivate in others, so far as we are able, the necessary dispositions to earnestly consider the reasons for the faith.”

As a free and rational creature, man can choose good or evil. We have thus also considered what is good or evil, so that we can help to determine what is proper for man to choose. We have discussed many of the particulars of the law, of virtue and vice, of moral decisions, of grace and of moral issues that we face in modern day. Perhaps an obvious point that we have not fully elaborated yet is the why of moral living. Yes, because we should choose good over evil. Yes, because God has revealed to us what is good and even written it upon our hearts. Yet, does that really answer the question? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/prometheanperspective/support

When my younger brother graduated from Pensacola flight school eventually to become an aviator for the USMC he got his 'Call Sign'. In the Gospel today Jesus changes Simon‘s name to Peter, something of a spiritual Call Sign. Fr. Herbert Alphonso SJ wrote a short book “Discovering your Personal Vocation', in short, to discover the call sign God has for each of us. Let's turn the question around and ask Jesus, “Who do you say that I am?” To discover that name is a game changer for the rest of your life!
When we order all that we do to our highest calling, union with God, doors open in front of us regardless of where we start from.
