After some technical difficulties, the boys sit down and get something recorded on take two. Topics include this stupid pandemic, lack of 12 step meetings, and navigating an uncertain future. Without a lot going on, we kept it short. Stay safe peoples.
Today the fellas sit down with recovered drug addict Connor Miller. Having been through multiple rehabs and time in jail, Connor's life changed after a chance encounter with a police officer. The resulting transformation has been extraordinary. Connor poured himself into work at his father's trucking company, and after experiencing burnout after several years, was moved to take up photography. That journey has led him to create Connor Miller Media. He also tells about the joys of fatherhood and meeting the love of his life. It was great to have Connor and his can do attitude on the show. You can find him on YouTube and Instagram @Connormillermedia and you can find his trucking company at https://www.ardentx.co/ Enjoy!
Michael's energy and attitude are infectious. She took the time to share her story with us, from her initial contact with the 12 step world, to the life she's loving today. She tells how she came to work for the treatment center where she got her start in recovery. She also raps about exercise, diet, and fulfillment she gets living life on a daily basis. It was a joy to have Micheal on the podcast, and we know you'll enjoy listening! Her book is called "Drowning in Addiction: Sink Or Swim: A Personal Guide for Choosing Your Legit Path to Recovery". How to live a spiritually principled life in the midst of a pandemic. That's what the dudes are talking about today. That and Kyle and Megan killing a half marathon. The two go hand in hand. Practicing perseverance, understanding, and empathy is what came up in conversation this Sunday. Let our glorious voices take you away from the troubles of today, if only for and hour. You are welcome, world.
With all of the world quarantined, Kyle and Aaron are on their own again. Topics include Aaron's faith based approach to living going out the window in favor of sheer panic. Kyle's punk ass lives in a bubble and that sure sounds nice. Also, as fortune would have it, these assholes don't even have to attend meetings anymore. They discuss that added bonus, and gaining awareness through action. Go on and give it a listen. You don't have shit else to do!
We think that it's no coincidence that our 1 year anniversary just happens to coincide with a worldwide pandemic. Quarantine yourselves and listen to this gem! Without a guest, the fellows talk about a number of things. Topics include the stupid pandemic, financial well being, and Kyle's day of cake tasting and sucking up to his future mother in law. With everyone stuck at home, there's no better time to get hooked on RecoveredAF podcast! Tell a friend!
After some initial technical difficulties, the boys enjoy a fantastic interview with the amazing Myra! She tells how after initial contact with the 12 step world, it was another 4 years until she found her way to freedom. She shares how another's willingness to carry the message, got her to some big book recovery. She also talks about showing up and being of service in the lives of those around her. We really enjoyed listening to Myra and hope you will too!
Gunnar sits down with the fellows and tells what it's been like living life as a recovered person in the public eye. Gunnar's first experience with the 12 step world was at the behest of concerned family, but he was unwilling to concede. Gunnar spent 9 months following his impatient treatment stay going through the motions and sinking deeper into his alcoholism. He then had his moment of clarity and got into action immediately. After an abbreviated stay in treatment to detox, he got out, got to work, and has experienced a profound change as the result. He tells us what has resulted in the years following, including marriage, continued career success, being elected to public office, and giving back to the treatment center where he got his start. You'll not want to miss this episode!
Kyle and Aaron sit down with their mutual friend Jeff to talk about the 6th and 7th steps. When do we do them, how long does it take, and what all is involved? Listen to find out how we do.
After some unexpected audio difficulties with a guest from the northwest, the fellows have to resort to plan B. Kyle and Aaron recorded their 1st podcast from their new makeshift studio, and had plenty to say. The fellows talk about spiritual principles and what they look like applied to daily living. Hopefully the sound is improved, and we've rescheduled our guest. Get some of this tasty goodness!!!
Kyle and Aaron talk about some things. The topics may or may not be recovery related. Welcome to the best 50 minutes of your life, You're welcome.

Jeff got busy and got into the work, and a life change was the result. He also tells what has kept him working with the newcomer, attending meetings regularly, and continuing to be a part of. Get you some of this!
The dudes sit down with two other dudes and have themselves another rectable discussion. The main focus of the conversation was going through the steps after having already had a spiritual experience. These busters have all had such an experience, and shared what it was like. Honestly, we recorded this a couple of weeks ago and that's about all I can remember. If I recall correctly, Ryan and Chet really saved this episode for us! Get some,
Topics are numerous on this episode of the podcast. The fellows regale us with stories of their comedy show attendance the night before, and how not to meet a celebrity. Also how human nature misleads us, and why relying on spiritual principles is the goal today. In addition, we discuss sponsorship and hit on amends again. This one is a real hoot!
Loyal listener, recovered alcoholic, and now friend, Randi sits down and shares her story with us. 13 months into her sobriety Randi was thrown a curve-ball and she knocked it out of the park. She tells how she drifted away from the fellowship, and what brought her back. Her reliance upon God and willingness to grow in the face of adversity is truly inspirational. She is on fire for recovery and for life! Enjoy!
Having recorded this a week ago, it's hard to remember what the hell we talked about. Meetings! We're talkin bout those meetings. We discuss our purpose for being in meetings, our meeting formats, and the meeting etiquette that we like prefer to follow. Also, why Jim Morrison's musical ability couldn't possible compare to Brian Wilson's. I mean, Wilson is a savant, maaaaaaaaan!

Also we talk about the philosophy of decision making and communicating in relationships. We're also pretty sure that we've solved all of the world's problems. (You're welcome). A good time was had by all. Soak this shit up!!!
It is what it sounds like. The dudes sit down and share their experience with the 3rd step. They discuss how they have experienced the 3rd step , and how they take others through the 3rd step. Also, what's Kyle's deal? You know?
After the fellows plans to record multiple guests in Denver get dashed, the boys have to call an audible. Topics include Megan's spiritual nature, where our minds go, what spiritual growth looks like, and Kyle's new experience with the 4th step.
Kyle and Aaron welcome another Dan to the show. Dan got started drinking young and found recovery young. Dan was an out of control drinker from the start reached the jumping off place at 21 years of age. He tells about being maladjusted well before he took a drink, learning to adult in sobriety, and how focusing on spiritual progress is what motivates him to continue to grow. He also tells about the blessings of the life he gets to live today. Enjoy!

Eventually Aaron cools out a bit and the fellows move on to other stuff. Also Kyle's sober birthday is referenced, and they recap how he got his start. Have a listen,
The dudes have Steven Slate and Michelle Dunbar of the Baldwin Research Institute on the podcast to talk about a different approach to addiction. Their belief is that addiction is not a disease, and should be treated accordingly. They, along with Ryan Schwantes, have written The Freedom Model for Addictions: Escape the Treatment and Recovery Trap, and have published several additions of the book. They also offer retreats at St Jude in upstate New York. For more information on the Freedom Model approach, go to Saint Jude Retreats https://www.soberforever.net The Freedom Model https://www.thefreedommodel.org or email info@thefreedommodel.org
The dudes take a minute to front load with their listeners that a podcast with some non 12 step folks is upcoming, and why. That leads to a discussion about open mindedness, and what spiritual principled living looks like at work, and in relationships. Also, why does Aaron still have a newspaper subscription, and what's with all of the analogies?
Zach tried to fill his hole with stuff, status, and booze. With a mother in recovery, he knew where he could turn for help, After several half-hearted attempts at sobriety and his life unraveling, Zach found his way back to the 12 steps and got to work. He tells what it took for him to get where his now, and how he gets to enjoy the life that spiritually principled living has brought him.
Aaron can now fix things without throwing a temper tantrum. Kyle can exercise for the enjoyment of it, or challenge himself if he'd like. These are the ways the co-hosts have experienced spiritual growth in their lives. Also, how the podcast has given them the opportunity to grow in ways they couldn't have foreseen. Enjoy!
Our mutual friend sits down with us to talk about this, that, and the other. We talk about what our lives look like when we stray from our spiritual solution, what motivates us to get back on course, and if it's possible to simply stay on the course. Also, how trauma therapy has altered the way we talk to ourselves.
Kyle and Aaron celebrate their 50th episode with their most entertaining episode yet!!! But not really. They discuss the 3 legacies of the 12 step world, and what that looks like in their worlds. Also, a more grateful outlook on life, and looking forward to some upcoming guests.
Kyle (the idiot millennial) and Aaron (the amazing gen Xer), decide once and for all, why gen X is far supreme to those millennial wankers. They also discuss combining hard work with spiritual principles and a bunch of really interesting and mind bending material. You're welcome!
The boys take a deep dive into prayer and meditation. They talk about the outline in the book, how they do things similarly to that, where they explore outside the book, and how spiritual living has benefited their lives. One of them is most likely doing it wrong. Take a listen and decide for yourself!!
We sat down with Courtney, and were absolutely inspired by her experience. Having had no experience with the 12 step world, she attended her first meeting at the urging of her mother. Although she fell in love with the fellowship immediately, it took some time until she was ready to do the work. After being sober for several years, she decided marijuana was probably okay. A difficult ending to the weed chapter led her to a new sponsor, and a profound experience with another trip through the steps. Also how neurofeedback therapy and poetry have rounded out her energetic outlook on life. This one gave us goosebumps and we hope it will do the same for you. Enjoy!
After taking a while to get going on this one, the fellows finally get into some recovery talk. Topics include Kyle's killer couple of weeks, then a little bit of steps 4 through 12. Hang in there for the first 20 minutes, and get to the good stuff on this one!
