The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs provided their fans with a game to remember Friday night, rallying in the fourth quarter to narrowly beat the Luling Eagles 22-21 in an exciting home opener Aug. 29. The Mustangs fought from behind nearly the entire game, showing grit and determination every step of the way. Luling capitalized on a turnover in the third quarter to grab momentum, but Nixon-Smiley refused to back down. West Burlington opened the season with a hard-fought 19-13 home win over nearby Danville, highlighted by Jaden Anthons 196 rushing yards and strong performances from senior Cale Cook and freshman quarterback Phillip Porter. The defense delivered key stops and turnovers, led by linemen Joey Glendening and Mikael Cook. The coaching staff noted nearly 20 penalties and a few turnovers as areas to clean up before road games at Fort Madison and Kittuck, but remain encouraged by the team's progress and physical play in the season opener.

Round 4 of MotoGP 2025 found us in the desert of Doha under the lights with the only night race for MotoGP!! Beyond the normal excitement we always get when the sun goes down and the impressive stadium lights click on blasting the atmosphere to the next level, round 4 left us on the edge of our seats the entire way!!! From the 1st free practice, to the end of the race drama was everywhere!! The Marquez brothers will for sure have some chatting to do after this round, as we saw Alex attempt to to take Marc out in the first corner! Not much later Alex reattempted to down himself and lost his aero in the process, also forcing Fabio Digianantonio to the back of the pack!! Excitement didn't stop with the brothers though as Top Gun Maverick came out of no where to lead the race for many laps!! Icebox and I am Lisa Patrick Rea is a prolific, award-winning independent filmmaker recognized for his innovative storytelling and creative directing style in horror and suspense. His feature film, "Nailbiter", won Best Director and/or Best Feature Film awards in several film festivals in 2012, "Nailbiter" was released on May 28, 2013 through Lionsgate Home Entertainment on DVD/VOD, Redbox and Digital Downloads. It has since aired on FearNet, the Chiller Network and The Horror Channel in the UK. Rea's stylized short films have screened in over a hundred film festivals around the world. In the summer of 2008, Rea's short film "Woman's Intuition" won a Heartland Emmy Award. In 2009, Rea was co-director on the "Jake Johanssen, I Love You" comedy special, which aired on Showtime throughout 2010. Rea won his second Heartland Emmy Award with the short "Get Off My Porch". He has also been nominated for two Mid-America Emmy Awards.
