Season 20, Episode 43 of The Adventures of Pipeman. Dream Beard Teams Up with Dropout Kings for Powerful New Single “HIGH LIFE” via Judge & Jury RecordsFollowing the tragic passing of Adam Ramey, Dropout King's lead vocalist, the loss sent shock waves through fans, collaborators, and the music community at large. For Dream Beard, the loss hit especially close to home, not only as a fan and collaborator, but as someone who had shared a real moment with Ramey long before this track came to life. Years earlier, Dream Beard was invited by Memphis May Fire to attend ShipRocked. During a day off, he noticed people were smoking cigars and wanted to do the same, so he went on an adventure seeking one out. As he wandered past a row of private villas, he spotted a man sitting on a porch enjoying one. Dream Beard asked where he could find a cigar, and the man invited him into his bungalow to share his own. That man was Adam Ramey. A simple exchange turned into a memorable connection, one that now adds even deeper meaning to “HIGH LIFE.” This is also the first Dropout Kings track to drop since vocalist Adam Ramey's untimely death last year. In the wake of that tragedy, Dream Beard reached out to Black Cat Bill, reigniting a creative connection that would ultimately lead to “HIGH LIFE.” What began as an idea quickly evolved into something far more powerful.“HIGH LIFE” represents a small piece of a larger story about conquering hardships and breaking generational curses. It is a heavy-hitting nu-metal banger that combines raw, introspective, passionate rap lyrics with Fever 333 swagger & a reminiscence of Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory.Click Here to Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Take some zany and serious journeys with The Pipeman aka Dean K. Welcome to AthCastMusic, the music of Athens,Georgia now and then. My name is Marlene SokolStewart, and this is my podcast. Hello, hello, hello, everyone. I hope everyone's doing well. It's been crazy flying around this country withthe TSA crap going on, but... We made it backto Athens fine and I made it here to record thisepisode and I'm very happy about that becausemy guest today is Randall Bramblett and he isa fine, fine musician and an Athenian still ashe moved here in 1970. And he's still here. Myconversation was great. It was just great. RandallBramblett is a singer, songwriter, and multi - instrumentalist, born in Jesup, Georgia, but based in Athens,Georgia. His music is rooted in south funk, blues, R &B, psychedelic punk, jazz, and wherever the hell else he wants to go. His music spans a careerof solo work, collaborations, and being the leaderof the band. He played with the Allman Brothers,Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt, Sea Level, WidespreadPanic, Levon Helm, the Atlanta Rhythm section,Delbert McClinton, Betty LeVette, you name it.Because there's just too many people to list.It really is phenomenal what this man has accomplished. He went to UNC with the intent to major in psychologyand to join the seminary. But that was not tobe after hearing artists like James Taylor, CaroleKing, and Bob Dylan and thinking, you know what,I probably could do this. Once he abandoned thatpathway, he moved to Athens to write songs and see how it would carry him. It led to much more than songwriting. It led to a plethora of creativitythat couldn't be stopped. His music continuesto grow like grapes on a vine, always tastingdifferent and always depending on the weather. He probably says yes, too many times and playswherever time will take him. We talked about beginning his music, when he went to UNC, how he got involved with Sea Level, Steve Winwoodand some of these other artists and just howhis life has been since he started this wonderful journey. So here is my lovely conversationwith Randall Bramblett.

For decades, he navigated royal circles, elite dinner tables, and media backrooms—witnessing scandals buried, celebrities crafted, and reputations shielded. In his memoir The Last Alpha Male, Taki delivers a raw, unfiltered autopsy of Western high society's quiet collapse: when discretion died, image triumphed over character, and decadence lost its last standards. Expect sharp wit on masculinity's decline, elite hypocrisy, narrative control, and what civilizations sacrifice when seriousness vanishes. Frankie Miller: The Scottish Singer Who Gave Rock Its Soul

A Breath of Fresh Air

Frankie Miller has one of those voices that stops you mid-sentence — gritty, soulful, aching, and unmistakably real. It's the sound of lived experience, shaped by smoky pubs, late nights, hard miles on the road, and a deep love of rhythm and blues. Born William Malcolm Miller in 1949, in Glasgow, Scotland, Frankie grew up in a working-class environment where music wasn't a luxury — it was a lifeline. As a teenager, Frankie was already soaking up American blues and soul records, falling hard for artists like Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles. Those influences never left him. You can hear them in every rasp, every shout, every tender moment in his singing. By the late 1960s, he was fronting his own band, Frankie Miller and the Powerhouse, building a reputation as a formidable live performer around the UK. Long before the record deals and chart success, Frankie was earning his stripes the old-fashioned way — on stage, night after night. His big break came in the early '70s when he signed to Chrysalis Records. His debut album Once in a Blue Moon (1972) immediately showcased his emotional range and powerful voice. The album also revealed something else: Frankie wasn't just a belter — he was a storyteller. Songs like “I'm Falling in Love” hinted at the soulful depth that would define his career.Over the next decade, Frankie Miller released a run of albums that firmly established him as one of the great blue-eyed soul singers of his generation. Records like High Life (1974), The Rock (1975), and Full House (1977) blended rock, soul, and blues with effortless confidence. The Rock in particular is often cited as a high point — raw, energetic, and brimming with personality. It also helped cement his reputation internationally, especially in the United States, where his sound resonated deeply.Frankie's songwriting talent didn't go unnoticed either. In fact, some of his most famous songs became hits for other artists. “Darlin',” co-written with Ian McLagan, was famously recorded by Elvis Presley, while “You Don't Know” was covered by artists including Ray Charles. Rod Stewart also became a close friend and champion, recording several Frankie Miller songs and helping introduce his music to an even wider audience. It was clear: musicians loved him as much as fans did.Despite the success, Frankie never chased trends or tried to polish away the rough edges that made him special. His voice remained raw and honest, often sounding like it might crack — and sometimes it did — but that vulnerability was exactly the point. He sang like someone who meant every word. Then, in 1994, everything changed. Frankie suffered a massive brain hemorrhage that left him unable to speak or sing, abruptly ending his performing career. It was a devastating blow, not just to fans, but to the music world as a whole. One of rock and soul's most distinctive voices was suddenly silenced. In the years that followed, Frankie's wife helped him through a long and difficult recovery. While he would never return to the stage, Frankie's spirit — and his music — endured. Fellow musicians rallied around him, and tribute albums like A Tribute to Frankie Miller helped reintroduce his catalogue to new listeners while honoring his immense influence.Today, Frankie Miller is remembered not just for his powerful voice, but for his authenticity. He was never a glossy superstar or a carefully manufactured rock icon. He was a singer's singer — admired by peers, respected by critics, and adored by fans who recognised something deeply human in his music.Frankie Miller's songs still feel alive because they come from a place of truth. Whether he was roaring through a blues rocker or whispering through a tender ballad, he sang like a man laying his heart on the line. Joining us this week is Scottish author, Davy Arthur who has recently penned a book to honour Frankie. You can pick up the book 'Long Way Home' - The Frankie MIller story here. On episode 131 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys are joined by AwardsWatch Associate TV Editor Karen Peterson to discuss the final film in their Claire Denis series, High Life (2019) In the final look into the cinematic world of Claire Denis, we see the guys, alongside Karen, give into what is widely known as the director's most celebrated modern film, about a futuristic, sci-fi film that examines the flaws and humanity of those who have harmed or destroyed other human beings. Set on a spaceship travelling to the ends of our galaxy, carrying a group of dangerous group criminals being experimented on by a crazed, horned up doctor, Denis examines if these humans who have committed the most heinous crime should be treated like decent members of society, and what it is life to care for life at the end of the space and time; it's simple beautiful as well as complexly unique in terms of style and story, essentially Denis at her best. Ryan, Jay, and Karen break down their thoughts on the film, Robert Pattinson's performance, if these characters deserve a second chance, "the box" scenes, what this film says about being a parent, as well as the boys' rankings of Denis' filmography and a preview of their newest series. Over the last couple of years, Denis has had a bit of a renaissance with her contemporary work, exploring complex stories with female characters at the forefront, mostly portrayed by the incredible Juliette Binoche. In their first collaboration together, the duo takes us on a journey of a woman who is uncertain in the male relationships she's in, but knows that she wants more than ever to not be alone, forcing herself into situations that aren't healthy. By doing this, they show how heartbreaking it can be to grow old alone without someone to share a life with. Ravi Coltrane with Marcus MillerMarcus Miller interviews Ravi Coltrane about his musical evolution and the dual legacy of his parents, Alice and John Coltrane. This insightful and candid talk, recorded live on the Journey of Jazz cruise, covers the challenges of growing up under the shadow of a jazz icon and finding one's own voice through the music.Key TakeawaysThe episode is a conversation between host Marcus Miller and guest Ravi Coltrane, focusing on Ravi's development as a jazz saxophonist.Ravi's father, John Coltrane, passed away in 1967 when Ravi was 2 years old, leaving Ravi to be raised by his mother, Alice Coltrane. Ravi notes that his father's instruments are currently in his stateroom.Ravi began his musical journey playing the clarinet throughout junior high and high school. He switched to the soprano saxophone at age 16 after his mother gave it to him for his birthday as a hint, later moving to the tenor saxophone.Ravi did not initially feel pressure from his famous last name because, during the 1970s in the San Fernando Valley where he grew up, John Coltrane was still considered "underground" or "counter culture".The death of Ravi's older brother, John Jr., in an automobile accident when Ravi was 17, caused a "void" that Ravi later filled by studying his father's music. Ravi began listening to his father's records to gain answers for questions asked at parties, and through this, the music "hit" him.Ravi worked with key members of the John Coltrane Quartet, including joining drummer Elvin Jones's band in 1991 (though he felt he was "prematurely" ready) and later working with pianist McCoy Tyner in the 2000s.Ravi and Marcus discuss the meaning of being "ready" to perform at a high level, noting that it means being "prepared to do the job properly" and recognizing that evolution and learning are continuous processes.Host and Guest InfoHost: Lee Mergner (introduction), Marcus Miller (interview).Guest: Ravi Coltrane. This talk was recorded during the Journey of Jazz cruise. Marcus Miller provided the theme music, which is a clip from his song "High Life" on his album Aphrodesia on Blue Note. The talk was captured by Brian Ratchkco and his production team.Send us a text

Eggerding has been in the corner office since 2018 and has steered FC through a series of challenges and triumphs during his time leading the company. The Dutchman has brought more high horology and cool collaborations to the value and volume-driven brand, including perpetual calendars and tourbillons as well as more precious-metal cases. But it's a delicate balance for Frederique Constant as value-priced watches still account for more than 90% of its production volumes. Amid rising input costs and a strong Swiss franc, not to mention the challenge of U.S. tariffs, Eggerding's biggest challenge is maintaining FC's value proposition while burnishing its reputation as a serious watchmaker able to produce high-end timepieces. Through Hebrews 6 and 7, we see that Jesus didn't become High Priest for Himself, but for us — to bless, intercede, and lead us into a life marked by rest, faith, and devotion. Like Abraham, who trusted God through Melchizedek, we're called to live with the same faith — to serve, to give, and to walk in hope.
