It's okay not to love Mother's Day. I'm giving a voice to the moms and women who have a tough time with this "holiday." There are many reasons why this might be a tough day. Maybe your mom has already passed, you have a crappy relationship (or no realtionship), she lives far away, she lives too close. Maybe you yearn to be a mom but it hasn't worked out for you. Maybe you don't want kids and you are tired of everyone asking you why not? This day is even tough for the moms who look like they have all their shit together.

I've mentioned it in passing, but today I'm giving you a lay-person's explanation about what it's all about and why I'm obsessed so you can judge for yourselft whether it might be something you'd like to dig into. Unlike "personality tests" like the Enneagram or Meyers Briggs, which can change slightly depending on your season of life, your human design type is yours from birth to the end. And the more I lean into mine, the better my life is becoming both personally and professionally. Note, it might be helpful for you to learn your type BEFORE you listen to the episode, so grab your free test at Jovian Archive. You will need your date and exact time of birth, that's really important.

Someone who would participate in family-life, share the housework, and support all of our ambitions. (Sexy and romantic too, please). And, even if you found that person, the dream could still end up kind of nightmarish. Because, it turns out, and what nobody tells you, is that marriage requires you to continuously reassess all of the agreements you've made in your relationship. And evaluate the responsibilities you've agreed to take on or put upon each other.  Did we mention the fact that we change as humans?  In today's episode, I'm talking about the unequal division of labor, how it's making me crazy in my life and relationship, and what I'm doing about it.

Why aren't we talking about the fact that we are not okay? Why do we carrying on claiming that everything is "fine" when it clearly is not? As mothers, business owners, wives, daughters, employees, friends, children, we are taking on heavier and heavier burdens and trying to carry on as usual. Smiling away and declaring ourselves to be "okay."  It has not been "fine" or even remotely "okay" for me the last few weeks. To make matters worse, isolating myself and keeping my feelings secret took me to a deep, dark place where I felt alone and utterly helpless and hopeless. But, the moment I started to talk about it and share it, the chokehold grip around my heart and throat immediately eased. So if you're not okay right now, that's actually okay. There are a lot of us that aren't okay. And I'm here to shine the light for us.  .... Random things I mention in this episode: Morgan Harper Nichols Eve Rodsky's Fair Play.
