Jules and Rox are back for a raw, unplanned catch-up episode — and honestly? Those are always the best ones. They kick things off with a little surprise gift exchange, then dive headfirst into life updates: Jules opens up about navigating "dark goddess energy" before her period, discovering she has low iron, and the spiral of comparing herself to others when her inner critic gets loud.Rox shares attending the memorial of a school peer who passed away suddenly — and how sitting with grief, reconnecting with old faces, and reflecting on the fragility of life led to some unexpected clarity. She also talks about a game-changing discovery for mums: crèche gyms, and why 60 minutes to yourself might just be the most radical act of self-care when you have a baby. This one's for anyone navigating the messy, beautiful in-between of just living.

First it was Me Too. Then it was Time's Up. Now it's time for something new: Me First. In this episode, Laurie introduces what she calls the Me First Movement—a powerful mindset shift for high-achieving midlife women who have spent decades putting everyone else's needs ahead of their own. After years of conditioning to be helpful, accommodating, and endlessly available, many women in midlife find themselves exhausted, resentful, and wondering where they fit in their own lives. The truth? Putting yourself first isn't selfish—it's strategic.Laurie explores why so many women struggle to prioritize themselves, how cultural conditioning and caregiving roles reinforce the habit of self-sacrifice, and why choosing yourself can actually strengthen your relationships, leadership, and legacy. In this episode, you'll learn:Why the instinct to put yourself last is deeply conditioned—not naturalThe difference between “Me First” and “Me Only” (they are not the same thing)How prioritizing yourself actually improves your relationships and family dynamicsWhy waiting for the “right time” to pursue what you want is a dangerous mythTwo simple challenges you can try this week to begin shifting into Me First modeThis isn't about abandoning the people you love. It's about finally including yourself in the equation.Because midlife isn't a holding pattern—it's your opportunity to launch the second half of your life with intention, clarity, and courage.
What more do you want from life? What more do you want for yourself? Award-winning journalist and author Poorna Bell reckons it's time to start really asking ourselves these questions. In this chat with Fearne, Poorna explains why it's important to aim for goals you set for yourself, not the ones set by society. They talk about why challenging the narrative that women become invisible as they age is so important, and why we should be turning to elders for life wisdom.Poorna also reflects on what she wishes she'd known about marriage before her wedding, and how we can all strengthen our relationships with our parents and children.Poorna's book, She Wanted More, is out now.If you liked this episode of Happy Place, you might also like:Poorna's first Happy Place episodeAshley JamesPaloma Faith Hosted on Acast. You've heard "self-care" a million times, but what does it actually mean to put yourself first when the world feels heavy, everyone needs something from you, and burnout is practically a badge of honor? In this episode, we flip the script: self-care isn't a luxury, a mani-pedi, or something you "earn." It's the foundation of presence, emotional resilience, and the only way to sustainably show up for others. We share what real self-care looks like (from morning silence to intuitive breaks), why boundaries matter, and how vulnerability, not perfection, builds trust, health, and connection. This one's both a reminder and a call to action: take care of you first, so everything else has meaning and energy behind it. Some key takeaways from this episode: Self-care fuels everything else. Putting yourself first is what lets you show up for everyone else. It's not about facials or free time, it's about what actually recharges you so you don't burn out trying to hold it all together. There's no one-size-fits-all. Whether it's a quiet morning or simply knowing when to pause, the point isn't perfection, it's presence. Tune in, check in, and adjust as you go. Support should feel like support. A few people who honor your boundaries and show up when it counts will always matter more than a crowd. Community is quality, not quantity.

This episode is for the woman who loves her partner, cares deeply about her relationship, and yet feels exhausted, resentful, or disconnected far more often than she wants to admit. You don't want to burn your life down. You don't want to leave your relationship. You just want it to feel better. In this episode, I share a hard truth many couples need to hear:Your relationship cannot thrive if you are constantly self-sacrificing.When you are depleted, over-functioning, and living in survival mode, everyone feels it. Especially your partner. And the irony? The more you put yourself first, the stronger your relationship becomes. In this conversation, I unpack why women are the emotional and energetic centre of the lives they build, how over-functioning quietly kills intimacy, and why learning to receive support is not selfish, but essential.IN THIS EPISODE:Why women are the emotional and energetic nucleus of their relationshipsThe lie we've been sold about self-sacrifice and loveHow over-functioning shows up in modern relationshipsWhy doing more actually creates resentment and disconnectionHow short-term discomfort leads to long-term relationship fulfilmentWhy your partner wants you happier, calmer, and more relaxedThe identity shift that happens when a woman stops holding it all togetherHow putting yourself first changes intimacy, communication, and desireWhy your partner doesn't need to do the work for the relationship to benefitThe subtle but powerful energetic shifts that change everythingYou don't become a better partner by giving more of yourself away. You become a better partner when you are regulated, present, fulfilled, and connected to your own needs. When you stop surviving and start thriving, your relationship responds.APPLY FOR 1:1 COACHINGMagnetic Muse is my private 1:1 coaching experience for high-achieving women who are ready to stop self-sacrificing and start living from presence, pleasure, and embodied confidence. This work is about:Releasing over-functioning and controlLearning how to receive support without guiltCreating deeper intimacy and connection in relationshipsSetting boundaries at work so you can leave work at workReconnecting with your body, desires, and feminine energyWhen you shift, every area of your life shifts.I'm currently opening a small number of private 1:1 spaces inside Magnetic Muse. You can:Apply directly here - https://www.khorrocks.com/coachingOr DM me COACHING on Instagram if you want to talk it through first - https://www.instagram.com/kat_horrocks/

Popular culture tells us to "put yourself first" and "follow your heart," but what does Scripture say? In this thought-provoking message, we explore how these seemingly positive phrases can lead us astray when taken to extremes. Discover Jesus's radical teaching about true greatness - that to be first, you must be last. Learn why our hearts can't always be trusted and how Christ gives us new hearts to guide our decisions. This isn't about self-neglect; it's about finding the biblical balance between caring for yourself and serving others.

Subscriber-only episodeSuccess in business begins with taking care of yourself. Drawing from years of mastermind facilitation, I've noticed a clear pattern: entrepreneurs who prioritize self-care consistently outperform those who sacrifice their wellbeing for their business.Today, I'm sharing three powerful self-care strategies that form the foundation of sustainable business growth. First, get active—whether through morning workouts, walks in nature, or any movement that gives your brain space to reset. I share my personal routine of early morning weight training and how establishing clear boundaries around this time has transformed my productivity and mindset. The second strategy focuses on intentional breathing techniques to manage stress and regulate your nervous system. From box breathing to the surprisingly effective practice of "blowing raspberries" before recording content (yes, really!), these simple tools help you stay centered when business challenges arise. Learning to calm your nervous system prevents the fight-or-flight response that clouds judgment and depletes energy. Finally, I emphasize the vital importance of cultivating meaningful female friendships. Every entrepreneur needs supportive women who understand both business challenges and personal life stages—from raising children to navigating hormonal changes. These connections provide crucial sounding boards and prevent the isolation that often accompanies entrepreneurship.Start implementing these practices weekly until they become natural habits. Your business deserves the best version of you—centered, supported, and physically well. Ready to take your business strategy further? Applications for our exclusive Insiders Retreat are open now, where we'll create personalized 90-day plans in an intimate, supportive setting. Don't wait—spaces are filling quickly!

In today's Trish Regan Show - I'm all over the events of last night. WOW! The RNC was certainly historic in every way - and just wait until you see the media's reaction. Plus, Fox News has thrown in the towel. Round 1 - Trump 1, Tucker 1 - Murdoch? ZERO. All of that coming up… plus, you need to see video of the crowd strike CEOs response to a very simple question after there were thousands of outages all over the globe; airlines canceling flights, credit card systems down, bank systems not working… And, I have some thoughts to share on the passing of the great Lou Dobbs… but, first – oh what a night! In today's live Trish Regan Show, I'm reporting on the secret meetings the Democrats are having with former President Obama and current President Biden. Apparently, Obama has grown increasingly concerned about this legacy and the state of play for the Democratic Party under Biden's administration. So, what's next. I have a theory to share… Hear me out on this. Wow. Plus, is this the end of the squad? No wonder Obama is so worried! And, hours before the debate, new problems surface for team Biden. An estimated 400 people that the FBI is highly worried about have made it into the country. DON'T FORGET to PUT YOURSELF FIRST. Start investing today. In a world filled with so many influences and voices, how do you return back to your core self and rediscover your life's purpose? Or in the words of today's guest, how do you start living from the inside out, rather than the outside in? We're so excited to sit down with John Kim, known for his work as The Angry Therapist. After going through a divorce, John shared his self-development journey online, growing a community through his frankness and vulnerability. He brings the same to our podcast today, talking about everything from what it means to focus on yourself outside of a relationship to how something like riding a motorcycle can actually be a form of meditation. John is a licensed therapist and life coach, crossfit enthusiast, co-founder of TAT Lab & Lumia Coach Training, and best-selling author of books like I Used to Be A Miserable F*ck: An Everyman's Guide to a Meaningful Life, and Single On Purpose: Redefine Everything. We may have been taught it's noble…or selfish to put our needs first….. But I challenge you to let go of any guilt….and to put yourself first with kindness and compassion ... .by doing this we fulfill a sense of self love…. and are better equipped to be there for others…… The intention of today's healing meditation is to find the confidence and wisdom of self love. Lets invoke: I bless you on this day…calling forth your Spirit…Spirit guides Angels and Masters to guide you in loving yourself unconditionally and putting yourself first…..and so it is …and so be it…. Find a comfortable quiet space….relax your body in a position that is best for you…take a few breaths without changing it…….notice your breath….notice you are breathing….. Now become more directive to your breath… inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth…..allow any tension to melt away…….settle in….PAUSE From this place of stillness…..bring attention to your physical body……. Begin with the lower-body…feet…legs….hips….belly…..upper chest….arms……shoulders….face….head….relax This is a moment for you to embrace self-kindness……… release guilt……. and savor the beauty of being present with yourself…..PAUSE Acknowledging the importance of putting yourself first………. In the hustle and bustle of life…… it's easy to forget that taking care of yourself is not selfish…..it's a necessity……. Close your eyes and repeat after me in your mind……PAUSE I am deserving of love and kindness I choose to prioritize myself without guilt I put myself first I love you…I am listening (Repeat 3x) Visualize how it feels to put yourself first…….feel the empowerment and assurance….Your confidence grows that you can do this……. PAUSE As women……. we often carry the weight of responsibility for others……. Release any guilt you may feel about taking time for yourself……….. Recognize that by nurturing your well-being……..you become better equipped to support those around you. PAUSE Now…….. imagine a path leading you to a quiet…….. secluded space……..a sanctuary just for you……….PAUSE This is your alone time……… a time to listen to yourself…..a place of refuge from the demands of the outside world……… As you walk this path…….. feel a sense of liberation and peace………at the end of this path you see a lake……… A time for renewal……and rebirth……you enter the water………..slowly…. PAUSE And then standing waist deep……you close your eyes and dunk under…..holding your breath…..under the water the sounds are muffled…….but clearly you hear……put yourself first…..I love you In this moment you let go of the need to constantly do and achieve………you allow yourself to simply be………LONG PAUSE You emerge from the water ... .and feel liberated……whole…..complete…..and you find love for self…… in the purest form…..PAUSE Now place one hand on your heart and one on your belly…….. breathe……..Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this present moment…. Breathe in this essence…….you are growing…….growing more of your own beauty…….. on your next inhale………stop searching outside of yourself…….it is all here… right now and right now……..PAUSE Keep finding yourself back here….again and again………exhale…. LONG PAUSE (1 minute)
