Send us a textTo commemorate Shakespeare's 461st Birthday, I am very happy to bring on to the Fixate & Binge Podcast, HANNAH YOUNG, a native of Stratford-on-Avon, the home of Shakespeare. Hannah is a classically trained actress who has performed extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company over several seasons in her career. She features as Lady Macbeth in Cheek by Jowl's film ‘Acting' which is premiered this weekend in London's The Barbican Centre, and has also worked at the National Studio in London and in several West End productions. In this episode, Hannah shares her first experiences with Shakespeare, growing up in Stratford-on-Avon, recounting her work on the stage with stage and screen legends. She illuminates how she approaches her characters, and uses the text itself to explore clues and ideas about her portrayals for audiences. If you're a casual fan of Shakespeare, a budding academic, a Bardolater, or terrified of experiencing Shakespeare for the first time -- this is the perfect podcast to hear from Hannah on how best to approach the immortal Bard.In this podcast, I also provide a spoiler-free review of Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza's film WARFARE -- currently in theaters and well-worth the price of admission to experience on the big screen!Thank you for listening! Kathryn and Coach Julie talk about the idea of “eating foods you love that love you back.” This is a phrase that Julie has used here on the podcast and that she often uses as a framework in coaching as she helps people learn to eat adequately. We'll talk about many ways to interpret this concept and how you can apply it in your own life. Send us a textWelcome back to this week's episode of The Fixate & Binge Podcast! In this episode, I offer my defense of why binging is sometimes the BEST way to experience a show and there is no better opportunity than now to fully enjoy HBO MAX's runaway medical drama hit -- THE PITT starring ER's Noah Wylie.Trust me -- there is simply no better way to fully immerse yourself in one of the finest shows of 2025 than to binge it all in as little time as possible, and right now all episodes are available!I also share my reasons why not all remakes of beloved films are negative -- and profess my nearly 20-years love of my favorite band from Glasgow, Scotland, Mogwai, with their new documentary -- MOGWAI: IF THE STARS HAD A SOUND which is highly recommended to anyone who loves post-rock, instrumental music.Thank you for listening! Send us a textWelcome Back to this week's episode of the Fixate & Binge Podcast. In this episode, I explain the tremendously unfortunate podcast recording that was lost like tears in the rain due to faulty recording software that failed me at the worst possible moment.Still, there is much to love (I hope) in this week's episode where I review the latest horror flick, HELL OF A SUMMER, which was an underwhelming viewing experience.I also discuss two new shows with episodes that are entirely available to stream and binge to your heart's content; Amazon Prime's THE BONDSMAN, starring Kevin Bacon and MGM+'s NINE BODIES IN A MEXICAN MORGUE, starring Eric McCormack. A binge-free life is created by dismissing one binge urge at a time, and by eating adequately one meal/snack at a time. This requires consistency. Although the decision to stop bingeing can be instantaneous, healing of the body and brain from this habit takes time. If you're someone who tends to do well for a little while just to slip back into old behaviors, or if you want to prevent that from happening, this episode is going to be useful to you. Send us a textWelcome back to the Fixate & Binge Podcast -- in this latest episode, Joe discusses the ugly campaign picking up steam with the casting announcements for HBO's new Harry Potter series and discusses (with examples) why this is hypocrisy of the highest order and a huge step back towards tolerance and equality.Joe also discusses two new films -- one of which is streaming now on Netflix: THE ELECTRIC STATE starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt that seems like an enormous waste of Netflix subscription money being flushed down the toilet. The other, is a reminder that the spy thriller subgenera is still very much alive in Steven Soderbergh's BLACK BAG starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett, a flawless film of espionage and intrigue rarely captured this well in cinema. Kathryn and Coach Julie teach you how to make positive change in pivotal moments or “inflection points” in recovery. You'll learn that you don't have to fix every part of your life or every part of your eating. Instead, you can zero in on the times when you are tipping into the problematic behaviors, make some adjustments, and harness your own power of choice. When you recognize and work on your own inflection points, you can avoid going down those familiar but harmful pathways and build new habits. Having a difficult relationship with food affects nearly every other relationship in your life, including your relationship with yourself. Because eating disorders are so isolating, you may find yourself turning away from other people—even the people you love the most and who love you the most. Your drive to binge and your obsessive food thoughts can distract you from being present in relationships or prevent you from forming relationships. Kathryn addresses these issues and more in this episode about healing your relationship with food, yourself, and others. Binge-encouraging thoughts don't make logical sense, but they are tempting to believe in the moment of an urge. You can learn to stop taking these thoughts seriously, dismissing them as untrue and not indicative of who you truly are and what you truly want. It's helpful to know that you aren't the only one having thoughts that try to justify binge eating. In this episode, Kathryn shares several common faulty thoughts (from the lower brain) and explains how you can stop letting these thoughts lead you into harmful actions. Recovery can bring up some unexpected feelings, including grief. Even though binge eating is ultimately a harmful behavior, you may still experience a sense of loss as you let it go, and you may also grieve the time you lost to the eating disorder. As you go through this, it can be helpful to cultivate thoughts and feelings of gratitude to soften the grief, and to keep you moving in the direction of freedom from the struggle with food. Life inevitably involves loss, and some lessons learned from recovery about both grief and gratitude can help you in many other areas as you move forward.
