Listen to some of the minutes toward the end of my interview with Meghan Buchanon, a true overcomer who we all can be inspired by. A few of these minutes can apply to the Everests that we all face. A few of these minutes were taken from my interview with Meghan Buchanan, an Aerospace Engineer, Adventure Athlete and Motivational Speaker. She has set her sights on becoming the 1st Rocket Scientist to climb the 7 Summits, 5th US WOMAN to complete the EXPLORERS GRAND SLAM (climbing the world's 7 Summits and last degree ski to the North and South Poles), and eventually 1st US WOMAN to complete the Adventurers Grand Slam (unsupported Poles). She has taken on impossible and defying odds to inspire all of us. Her story is incredible including a broken femur with two years of excruciating pain and physical therapy to pulling off the impossible as a mountaineer. She is the "Rocket Girl" - Breaking Boundaries for Women in Engineering and Mountaineering. She has overcome stereotypes, obstacles, and life-threatening injuries by applying her tools of GGRIT. Gratitude – Growth – Resilience – Integrity – Tenacity Our interview wasn't long enough. You will be inspired, amazed, and come out of this wanting to hear more. Lessons from a Rocket Scientist who Climbed Mount Everest and so much more. Let me just say, it was just a blessing for me to have such a great conversation with a person of inspiration. Thank you Meghan! Te presento a Andrea Cardona. Episode 2 features an interview with Chhiring Sherpa, a revered climber and guide who has summited Mount Everest 16 times, but also works at Honey Stinger. Our second segment features an in-depth interview with Kim Hess, a Hive Gold athlete who’s very close to becoming only the thirteenth woman to complete the Adventurers Grand Slam—that’s climbing the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each of the seven continents) plus traversing to the North and the South poles. Kim began this quest eight years ago, and she’s had some pretty extreme highs and lows, including a fall and emergency evacuation from Mt McKinley. She talks openly about all of it, as well as the challenges of being a woman in a traditionally male realm.
Despite roots in one of India’s most conservative rural Haryana state notorious for its skewed sex ratio in favour of boys, Nungshi and Tashi Malik, by 23 years old had achieved several global gender iconic milestones. They are the world’s first siblings and twins as well as youngest persons and the first South Asians to complete the ‘Adventurers Grand Slam’ (scaling highest peaks in all continents including Everest, and skiing to North and South Poles). Guinness World Records has already featured them for several of these including ‘first female twins to scale Everest, first twins and siblings to scale the Seven Summits and youngest person to complete Explorers Grand Slam’. Popularly known as ‘Everest twins’, Nungshi and Tashi dedicated their adventure mission to Indian girl child with the motto ‘Gender Equality Now: Fight Female Feticide’. They use their climbing as metaphor for the ‘invisible’ mountains of gender discrimination, exclusion and denial of basic rights that millions of girls in India have to climb daily. Last year they started ‘NungshiTashi Foundation’ with the twin objectives of promoting Outdoors Leadership and girl empowerment through Outdoors. One of the best things with Husky is all the chances and opportunities that so often opens up. Who would have thought that I would get an e-mail from the husband of the Swedish ambassador to Lebanon telling me that they not only listen to Husky, but also asks if I would be interested in meeting a friend of theirs - Maxime Chaya, who is the sixth person in the world ever to have completed the so called Adventurers Grand Slam which is completing the Seven Summits AND crossing the North and the South Pole on foot. I am so glad and humbled to have had the chance to meet and interview Maxime about his background in Lebanon, his cosmopolitan upbringing, about his adventures and his mission to be a good rolemodel and ambassador for a troubled part of the world. He has also written a autobiography about his life so far called Steep Dreams. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
