This week, we talk about the Spanish Grand Prix, including who is the firmest number two and who the star performers were. (Although Scott didn't hear the question.) Later we touch on Supercars, V8 SuperUtes and S5000 again. We also talk about spinoff podcasts, what constitutes the perfect cup of tea, and we have a call from Goonta.
THE REAL ESTATE SESSIONS PODCAST Episode : 279 Host: BILL RISSER Guest: SCOTT LINCICOME Episode Summary: Meet today's guest from Pinehurst, North Carolina, Scott Lincicome, one of the partners in Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Lifestyle Property Partners. With his background as a former professional golfer, Scott is an expert in golf properties and other Pinehurst facilities. In this episode, I feature Scott Lincicome as he narrates his journey to Real Estate, including his different passions, especially for sports, and how he leveraged his interests to create a successful Real Estate career. Top Takeaways: "Lots of resort towns have lots of hotels and lots of rooms and lots of stuff, that is not Pinehurst." Bill Risser "It doesn't matter if it's one agent or a hundred agents. If you got somebody underneath you, it's a management role as well." Scott Lincicome "You've got all the pieces and parts...one day you're going to get out of it, and nobody behind you is going to be Scott Lincicome." Scott Lincicome "Niche yourself, you've got to be the expert in whatever it is you're going to do, and you've got to like being around the people you're going to help." Scott Lincicome Episode Highlights: [00:25] Intro [02:10] For someone who grew up in Atlanta, Why Pinehurst? [03:50] Scott narrates his journey through other sports and how he got started in golf. [15:01] How did Real Estate enter the picture for you? [20:35] Scott describes Pinehurst, North Carolina. [22:50] How Scott got connected with 'Better Home and Gardens'. [27:08] What kind of advice would you give somebody who knows what they're doing but wants to get specific in Real Estate? [31:52] What one piece of advice would you give a new agent just getting started? [33:06] Outro Episode Notes: Although Scott grew up in Atlanta, he shares that he has now spent 21 years in Pinehurst, North Carolina, with no initial goal. Sharing his experience golfing, Scott discusses how he started with an initial interest in baseball as a kid and didn't play much golf competitively till his late 20s. He also had a passion for snowboarding earlier on and later managed a snowboarding business in Aspen, mainly working in the sales and tech aspect; however, the pay was small. Moving up to Pinehurst, where the family house was, Scott and his wife, who was also his caddy, spent most of the time living from the car for about a year. Scott narrates his experience before becoming a Realtor in Pinehurst for 16yrs. He describes that the money involved in golf as a sport at the time was also not much, especially in Pinehurst, and he was not ready to leave Pinehurst. This prompted him to move back into sales which he had a great interest in. After working with a Spanish TV company for over a year, he was introduced to Real Estate. Nowadays, many people move to Pinehurst because it's an incredible place to live. Scott describes Pinehurst as "Mayberry in color" with 50 golf courses. The community has also been voted the safest city to live in North Carolina for close to 23 years. Describing how he started working with Better Homes and Gardens, Scott shares that while starting in Real Estate with golf properties, he realized he was a better salesperson than a manager and needed help on the management side and worked with Lori to create a brand. For agents who want to get very specific, finding your niche is to know what you're passionate about and talk to the people interested in that field. Scott explains that a significant change in the market is that Millennials are now more interested in buying properties than renting. This is causing shortages since the pool of Millennial buyers is large. Aside from that is the advent of remote working following the pandemic, which means people don't particularly have to live in urban centers. Additionally, there is the acquisition of properties for business purposes.
Today I sit down with an awesome partner of mine in the trades. His name Scott McGrath (McGraw) and he is a Director at Origo BPO. Him and his offshore teams help service companies to plug their profit leaks by offering a solution to many of the common headaches for these organizations. Including, but not limited to: Providing additional support for technicians in the field. Ensuring quick and accurate review of work orders. Not only does he come form a long line of trades people, but he works every day to support this great industry. Listen in to hear Scott’s story of entrepreneurship and all about how he does his part in mitigating the skilled trades gap by making techs and managers jobs easier. It's a movie theater, it's a restaurant, it's a damn good brewery! Dan and Tom visit Alternate Ending Beer Co. and sit down with proprietor Scott Novick. Although Scott worked at one of the premier hazy IPA breweries in the country, did someone say OH, he has chosen to push the boundaries at his own establishment. There is a room that smells like fresh baked bread, strictly reserved for barrel aging wild ales, and a mash tun capable of producing single decoction pilsners for all you crispy boiz out there! Scott and his team have big things planned from cult movie nights to live events. This new brewpub met and exceeded our expectations in many ways and we can't wait for the rest of you craft beer junkies to check out this NJ hotspot!
EVENT HORIZON JAZZ QUARTET is a Chicago-based group comprising four of the finest jazz musicians the Windy City has to offer. Reedman JIM KACZMAREK, keyboardist SCOTT MERTENS, bass player DONN DESANTO, and drummer RICK VITEK have played with some of the biggest names in jazz and pop. Their eponymous debut album is a collection of 11 original compositions written by either Kaczmarek or Mertens. The Quartet are regulars on the Chicago jazz scene. Kaczmarek is the driving force behind the band’s creation, but he emphasizes “Although Scott and I contribute our original tunes, we’re really a collective. Each band member has his own strengths and unique voice that shape every arrangement. Oftentimes, Rick or Donn will come up with an idea that largely changes and improves upon my original concept.” EVENT HORIZON is a richly textured album that encompasses a wide variety of styles and attitudes. Jim Kaczmarek and Scott Mertens are top-notch composers who deserve a wider audience. All four musicians, including Donn DeSanto and Rick Vitek, have created a joyful musical expression through the entire range of human emotions.
In the second half of the conversation, Scott and Karl continue discussing Herbert Marcuse’s 1965 essay “Repressive Tolerance.” In the course of analyzing Marcuse, Karl creates a new word: "justism." As Karl describes, "It's when you take a complex reality and you reduce it to one simple concept. For Marcuse, it looks like the "justism" is towards whatever his vision of freedom is, which will require the repression of the normal people who support the established order." Although Scott and Karl agree with some of his criticism on the media, they find fault in his ability to show his work and give concrete solutions. As Scott puts it, "He's a smuggler." Tune in to part two of the show and learn more about the Marcusean shape of intolerance.
Well it is official, Space Force is now part of our military. Although Scott and Jason are too old to join, they do have an opinion of Space Force and what it means to our future. May the Space Force be with you.
Social media is a powerful tool. If it weren’t for the good social media has done, you likely wouldn’t be tuned into this podcast right now. That said, it seems to me that the use of social media is making us dumber or, at least, encouraging us to behave that way. My guest today, Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, joins me to talk about exactly why that is and the type of thinking he refers to as “Loserthink.” It’s also the title of his new book subtitled, How Untrained Brains are Ruining America. Today, we talk about the fact that being right and being wrong feel the same, how to determine what battles to fight online, how shaming and mockery can be used positively, and ultimately how you can avoid thinking like a loser. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Augmenting your intelligence Wrestling with social media A “slippery slope” Linear thinking Predictable variables to success Influencing other people Enlightened selfishness Succeeding at systems Mental addiction Adding to your talent stack There’s always a deeper level Engaging in “loser think” Determining a stranger’s thoughts SCOTT ADAMS Gents, I am stoked to be able to introduce you to my guest today, Scott Adams. Before I do, I want to make sure I thank my friend, Jordan Harbinger, for introducing us. You may not know who Scott is right away but I’m sure you know Dilbert. Scott is the creator of Dilbert and the bestselling author of Win Bigly and his new book, Loserthink. Although Scott really started to gain attention and traction with Dilbert, his political commentary is, in my mind, just as, if not more, important. If you’re interested, you can check out what he has to say on Twitter (@scottadamssays). He’s never been afraid to ruffle a few feathers and I think that is why he has gained such a following – his ability to say what needs to be said and his ability to say it in a way that connects with so many of us. Rigaku has 1,500 employees, 1,000 of which are in Japan. Scott’s IT team supports the remaining employees outside of Japan. Scott joined us for this episode of Possibilities to talk about the changing role of IT departments, digital transformation, data, and best practices he’s learned along the way.

Today he is here on The Real Estate Nerds Podcast to talk about one of his all-time best deals. This single-family home came from, of all places, an auction. Although Scott got lucky, he tells our […]

Come spend some time with us while we heckle a close friend and new build buyer, Scott Sniderwin. Scott recently purchased a new build home here in the Houston area. Although Scott is now a regular listener to the show, we hadn't started the podcast at the time he was buying, so he wasn't plugged in to the commandments, and his real estate story turned into a horror story. Luckily for Scott, he is persistent, and as he put it “a real pain”, so he kept fighting to get things done properly on his new build home. He walks us through his story of building a new home from contract to final closing to his warranty period. Listen to the podcast to hear all of the details and how he got things fixed, and what he could have done to protect himself from the get-go.
It’s time once again for the Friday edition of the Amazing Seller podcast. Why is that special? Because these Friday editions are the “Ask Scott” version of the show where Scott Voelker answers your questions questions from real life Amazon sellers who have run into a snag, hurdle, or issue of confusion in their Amazon Private Label business. Scott’s got over a year of experience doing his own private label business and has also had the opportunity to learn from numbers of experienced guests as he’s interviewed them on his podcast. You’ll find Scott’s answers revealing, helpful, and timely, so be sure you take the time to listen. Is there a way to dominate ALL the PPC ad spots for a product? A listener to the podcast wants to know if there is a way he can structure his PPC campaigns so that his ads show up in all of the ad boxes available for his product keywords. Why would he want to do that? If he could do so, he would have his product shown on the page more than any other products. That translates into a higher percentage chance that he will get the purchase rather than some of his competition. Although Scott is not entirely sure if this can be done, he does give some good advice on how to go about trying on this episode of the podcast. How should I go about determining the colors for my product? When you sell a product that can come in a variety of colors, how should you go about determining which colors are the best ones to offer? Today a listener asked that very question and Scott has some very practical advice on how to go about choosing the colors that you were going to sell. You shouldn't guess, and you shouldn't do what feels right to you. You should do what the facts tell you. On this episode Scott is going to tell you how to find out the facts and how to apply them to your own color choices when it comes to variations on your products. I have closely related products. Should I create variations or individual listings for them? It's a great idea to have products on the Amazon selling platform that are closely related to each other. This enables you to get cross sales from one product to another, which increases your profitability. But at some point you're going to need to decide if those products are so closely related that they are actually variations of each other, or if each one is unique enough that it deserves and should have its own listing. On this episode of the podcast Scott answers a question about that issue and gives some very practical advice. You can get a free private label course in your inbox for the next 10 days. If you are new to the world of private label sales on Amazon you can get a free 10-day course from Scott that walks you through all the steps you need to take to find your product, research whether it is worth investing in, get it established on the Amazon platform, start to drive sales through promotions, and follow up with your customers, as well as much, much more. You can get that free 10 day course about private label sales by listening to this episode of the podcast. Happy Friday everybody! Earlier this month there was a scavenger hunt on the internet that had nothing to do with us — until it did. GISHWHES stands for (The) Greatest International Scavenger Hunt (the) World Has Ever Seen, and the 2014 list of things to scavenge included this: “VIDEO: A NYT best-selling author or Tony-award winning actor or actress doing a dramatic reading of a section of this: http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/right_of_way.htm” Although Scott was rudely ignored during this year’s Tony Awards for the riveting portrayal of Riff in that revival of West Side Story that never happened … he did still fit the bill. Although we received many requests, we were only able to fit in about a dozen. Here’s the first result, with more to come as the week goes on. Please to enjoy. Click here to download the video.
