You've asked yourself repeatedly over the last year "Is Fried Rice Podcast going review Spawn 1997? The greatest comic movie made?" At first, we refused, obviously the greatest comic book movie ever made is "Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again" 1990, but this wasn't good enough for the powers that be, so they sent all of us to Hell. After making a deal with the head honcho down there, we have been allowed one final podcast episode to prove ourselves worthy of getting promoted from temp agency hellspawn to full-blown Hell employees. So listen up and give your demonic prayers to our overlord from Hell and we discuss SPAWN 1997!We are on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5MHpzbpH9H0jXRCJI34KlC?si=a95fe723c01c4b6cCheck out our website: www.friedricepodcast.comCall our VOICEMAIL: (702) 829-0117 and listen for this week's question!(don't worry, Andy isn't sitting in his room, waiting by his phone like it's the 90s, just fiddling with the long chord, watching Touched By an Angel...)

For our 100th episode, we wanted to do something really special and this made-for-tv movie from 1990 based on our beloved Archie Comics characters definitely fit the bill! Just over two years ago, we were inspired to start making this podcast so we could have the opportunity to vent about the ridiculousness that is the CW series Riverdale. One hundred episodes later, we're still venting about that but now we get to add this version of Riverdale to the mix! Archie: To Riverdale and Back is one long terrible episode of Riverdale complete with cheesy dialogue, a thin plot regarding the potential destruction of Pop's, and inspirational speeches about coming together as town delivered by the man, Archie Andrews, himself. Special thanks to our fans who have been with us since our very first episode covering Episode 1 of Season 5 of Riverdale -- this one is for you! Don't forget to rate and subscribe! Mark and Andrew turn back the clock to a simpler time, the 1990s, when we could look at an even simpler time, the 1950s. Our look back at looking back brings us to the comic adaptation "Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again." It's got all your favorite parts of Archie, from cringey rap versions of "Sugar, Sugar" to 8-year-olds being weird perverts. Open up your funny books and listen in, how about?
We talk the 1990 made for Television film Archie: To Riverdale and Back again, in which all your favorite Archie comics characters are attending their 15th high school reunion, which is apparently a thing. Archie is a Lawyer, Jughead is a psychologist, Veronica is four times divorced, and they are all the most obnoixoius Find guest star Alex on instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/ajpatteson/
Archie and gang have grown up and come home for their High School reunion. Time has passed but has anything changed? Producer James, Meghan, and George sit down to watch America's favorite love triangle as adults, sort of.

You may have noticed that this one's late. Here's the thing. This movie was...so mentally draining, both to watch and talk about, that our initial recording of it was just completely unusable. Outside of the fact that the levels were fucked, neither of us had anything to really say about anything and it largely amounted to Mark just running through every plot point as fast as possible. So we had to do a second take on this episode, this time approaching it like a regular Dic show...except we still somehow fucked the levels. So in this great™ episode, Avery sounds a bit too loud whilst Mark sounds as if he's sitting further away from the microphone than usual. We deeply pologize for the awkward sound quality of our new recording set up, it turns out there are a lot more problems and variables to factor in when you introduce a secondary microphone. Bare with us through these teething stages, and hopefully we'll get to a point where it somehow sounds BETTER than before. Anyway, by the fact that I've just written a paragraph of text and none of it has to do with the movie in question, you can probably insinuate that we have very little to say about this thing. It's...just bad. None of the characters are themselves; Archie is a bit of a jerk, Jughead somehow has not only a job as a Psychiatrist, but also an ex-wife and a kid which he's inexplicably been left in custody of...and then there's Big Ethel whose meeting with Jughead is hyped up for half the movie only for her to inexplicably be a Baywatch beach babe type and also used as a joke for a mere two scenes. It's bad, it made us miserable, and we're sorry to inflict that on you.
Episode #105: Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again (1990) Release Date: January 16, 2018 Before the The CW blessed us with their rendition of Archie Comics, NBC attempted to turn the wacky world of Riverdale into a weekly television series about Archie and pals as thirty-somethings. The series never came to fruition, but a backdoor pilot in the guise of a made-for-television movie does exist. Oh, and it's amazing in its own strange ways. This week, Patrick and Kat tracked down a grainy copy on YouTube and decided it was time to head To Riverdale and Back Again, which is such a wordy title. We have some great stuff coming up, so don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review us on Apple Podcasts. Official Website: http://www.averyspecialpodcast.com Starring: Patrick M. Dunn and Kat Halstead A Very Special Podcast is a Salty Rock Media production.

In a very special episode of Radio Free Riverdale, Lucy, Evan, and a special guest – comedian, and podcaster Darren Springer – stare deep into the abyss that is the 1990 TV movie, Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again. Archies Pals 'n' Gals are in their mid-thirties, back in town for a high school reunion, and they're all so very sad. Not only are they dealing with troubled relationships and failed ambitions, but also facing a new world of luxury cars, portable phones, and hip-hop music that seems to have no patience of memories and "good times." We witnessed it all – the horror and the heartbreak – so you don't have to. And somehow, we managed to record a podcast longer in duration than the actual TV movie (!). Tune in, if you dare, for conversations on: why and how this early '90s nostalgia-fest was created who is more famous: Lauren Holly or a Reba co-star? Archie Andrews's shaky grasp of the legal system the intersections of Pop's Chocolate Shop and Tiananmen Square and the cinematic triumph of Jughead Jones rapping "Sugar Sugar" to bond with his terrible, terrible son All this and more in Episode 21 of Radio Free Riverdale, if you'd be so kind to let us lay our ever-lovin' stuff on you. And be sure to follow Darren Springer at @darrendspringer.
Steve Cooper talks with actor/host/V.O. artist Gary Kroeger. The All-New Press Your Luck. He has acted on the big screen and on TV in such projects as The Big Picture, Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Hidden Hills. He also hosted Fox's Comic Strip Live and the 26th Mrs. America pageant and has lent his voice to many projects including the popular animated series Dilbert. A few years ago he moved back to his home state of Iowa and recently ran for the Iowa House of Representatives.
Ever heard of The Bradys? In 1990, ABC were kicking afternoon butt with the Full House/Family Matters power hour, and CBS needed something to compete. Why not steal ABCs own Brady Family and use them against ABC? Starring the original now-20-years-older cast, The Bradys reworked the original sitcom into a dramedy, with the following setup: - Bobby is a former racecar driver, paraplegic after a crash - Peter is trapped in an abusive relationship - Jan and her partner are unable to conceive - Marcia is an alcoholic whose husband is fired by Mike It still had a laugh track. The show was canned after 6 episodes due to poor ratings. Some suggest that Uncle Jesse and Urkel were a source of unlimited power foolishly squandered, but others suspect a) the characters were worn out and b) even i they weren’t no-one wanted to see the most innocent characters TV ever saw thrust into such cartoonishly adult situations. If this sounds like a colossal train wreck, bear this in mind; NBC tried to do the same thing with Archie comics 2 months later and fucked it up worse.
