Greetings, and welcome back to Horror Business. We've got one heck of an episode in store for you guys as we're talking about Lady Stay Dead and Don't Go In The Woods, both from 1981. First off thank you to the fine folks over at Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations, the premiere screen-printing company of the Lehigh Valley. Chris Reject and his merry band of miscreants are ready to work with you to bring to life your vision of a t-shirt for your business, band, project, or whatever else it is you need represented by a shirt, sweater, pin, or coozy. Head on over to www.xlvacx.com to check them out. And as always thank you to our Patreon subscribers. Your support means the world to us and we are eternally thankful. If you would like to become a Patron, head to patreon.com/cinepunx. Thanks in advance! We briefly talk what we've doing involving horror recently. Liam discusses the film Infinity Buffet, and Justin talks about the films This Is Not A Test, Hokum, Disclosure Day, and some of the films he watched for the Chattanooga Film Festival. Up first is Lady Stay Dead. We talk largely about how unpleasant we found the film to be, mostly since it felt interested mostly in being cruel and shocking and not so much in telling some kind of story. We compare the sexual assault scenes to other famous horror films that use such a tactic, and how the film has the unsettling tendency to sexualize such things instead of portraying them as acts of violence. Liam points out the film somehow is the worst at this amongst ‘80s horror films, and not only is it edgy for the sake of edgy it's also not particularly good at it. We talk about how the film seems unable to make the antagonist a real believable threat, and how the film lacks the sense of catharsis most rape revenge films have so the violence comes off as completely pointless. Liam talks about how the film can't decide if the antagonist is developmentally challenged or just an asshole, as well as the idea that this film isn't really “the nastiest of the nasty” because it's just a weak example of that phenomenon. Up next is Don't Go In The Woods. We talk about how the poster might be familiar to horror fans even if they haven't seen the movie. Justin talks about how the film might the archetypical slasher film and unlike the previous film in the episode is compelling and interesting. Liam talks about how it's interesting that the film takes its time in revealing the killer, and possibly uses Bigfoot as a red herring before revealing the killer as a strange hippy Viking. Justin talks about one of the more striking and eerie scenes in the film that was more the result of a low budget than any actual artistic choice. We discuss how even though the previous film had a much higher production value, this film feels like it's being made by someone who cares and that shines through. We talk about the ending and how it feels way heavier than it has any right to be. As always thank you for listening and to everyone and anyone who donated on Patreon, checked this episode out, or shared a tweet/shared a post on FB/gave us love by recommending us to someone. Stalinism equates socialism/communism with state-controlled industry and a one party dictatorship. We reckon nothing could be further from genuine socialism and Marxism. Unfortuntely, this zombie idea from the 20th century has risen from the dead in the past few years and is gaining popularity among left wing people. In this ep, we debunk neo-Stalinism's main arguments: that the left needs to support "actually existing socialism", that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and that Western Marxists and even Western workers can't fight for socialism. Donovan's Brain: The Man Who Wouldn't Stay Dead This week on Ron's Amazing Stories, we journey into one of the most chilling tales from the golden age of radio—Donovan's Brain. Originally written by Curt Siodmak and brought to life on the legendary radio program Suspense, this story explores what happens when science pushes beyond its moral limits. Starring Orson Welles as Dr. Patrick Cory, this 1944 broadcast was originally presented over two nights. For this episode, Ron has carefully edited the two parts into a single, seamless story—removing original commercials and smoothing the narrative for a more immersive listening experience. At its core, Donovan's Brain is more than just a horror story. It's a haunting exploration of identity, control, and the consequences of tampering with forces we may not fully understand. And as technology continues to evolve in our modern world, its themes feel more relevant than ever. So dim the lights, settle in, and prepare yourself… because some minds refuse to stay silent—even after death. In This Episode The origins of Donovan's Brain in pulp fiction and radio drama A look at Suspense and its unforgettable adaptation Orson Welles' powerful performance as Dr. Patrick Cory A fully restored and edited version of the original two-part broadcast The moral dilemma behind keeping a human brain alive A mid-story discussion on science, ethics, and the nature of consciousness Post-story reflections on "what if" the brain had belonged to someone else Final thoughts connecting the story to modern technology and AI Ron's Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at audibletrial.com/ronsamazingstories. Sermon Replay | The King Who Doesn't Stay DeadMatthew 28:1–10Sermon by Pastor Mark HuntWhat if the story didn't end where it seemed final? This past Sunday, Pastor Mark Hunt led us through the powerful truth of the resurrection, reminding us that Jesus is the King who does not stay in the grave. In a world where so many things feel final, God steps in and rewrites the ending with life, hope, and restoration.Through the story of the women at the tomb, we are reminded that faith and fear can exist together. You do not need perfect certainty to encounter the living Christ. He meets us right where we are.And the resurrection is not only something to believe. It is something to share. The hope we receive becomes the hope we carry to others. Easter declares this with clarity and power: death does not have the final word. God does.Watch the full sermon and be reminded that hope is alive.#UnionChurchofGuatemala #UCG #SermonReplay #InternationalChurch #SoliDeoGloria

Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Days of our Lives is known for its thrilling plot twists. One such twist is the frequent resurrection of the Demira family members from the dead. Let's look at the most infamous back-from-the-dead Demira stories. Megan Hathaway Demira (Miranda Wilson), who was presumed dead once and resurrected once. DOOL gave Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), known for faking his death multiple times. Stefan DiMera, first played by Tyler Christopher and later by Brandon Barash, was presumed dead once and resurrected once. EJ DiMera (James Scott and later Dan Feuerriegel) was only dead once, a relatively low count for a Demira. Days of our Lives puts Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo), the father of the Demira family, holding the record for the most fake deaths and real resurrections, with a total of 13 presumed deaths. Coming up, another DeMera family member is set to rise from the dead, but who it will be remains a mystery. Milan feels abandoned, and appears to be acting out (she isn't sure herself) because she has just gotten kicked out of her third boarding school. Not a great look for a Senator's daughter. Send us a textWe remember loving this movie in the 90s. As kids, this movie was serious kick-ass awesomeness. It may have been the best comic book movie of the 90s! Sure the bar was low but that doesn't change the fact that we remember a dark and bruting look, a 90s grunge soundtrack, a whose who of bad guy actors, and unfortunately a career-defining and final performance from Brandon Lee. If this movie is not as good as we remember we just might go goth and brude in our rooms for a week writing awful gloom poetry with the volume on our ghetto blaster turned up. All the way up.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

Red Scare Industries celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The new compilation, “20 Years of Dreaming and Scheming,” includes contributions from Laura Jane Grace, Sludgeworth, the Brokedowns, the Falcon, Won't Stay Dead and the Bollweevils. I'm out of the car for this one … Toby Jeg and Brendan Kelly of Red Scare joined me at the Q101 studios in downtown Chicago for this recording. I mean, if I'm going to have a partnership with Q101, I may as well take advantage and use their facilities. We talk about the turbulent music business, and how Red Scare has managed to endure well into the 21st century. We get into discussing some of the tracks on “20 Years of Dreaming and Scheming,” and dive into topics like Fernet, Jon Bon Jovi and Toby's favorite stage banterist. I wrap the conversation by sharing an audio clip of an interview I did with Brendan in … 2002! Our voices both sound pitched up, but … that's just how we sounded 22 years ago. Every now and then, I do an interview that feels less like an interview and more like a casual conversation that just happens to have been captured on microphone. This is one of them. ## DON'T FORGET: Thursday, 9/26/24 Skeleton Key in Woodridge CAR CON CARNE EPISODE 1000 Featuring AM Taxi, Ooozin' Ahhhs, the Black and Blue Hearts, Mike Stricker DJ sets 7pm FREE TO ATTEND ## Car Con Carne is sponsored by Easy Automation. Red Scare Industries celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The new compilation, "20 Years of Dreaming and Scheming," includes contributions from Laura Jane Grace, Sludgeworth, the Brokedowns, the Falcon, Won't Stay Dead and the Bollweevils. We get into discussing some of the tracks on "20 Years of Dreaming and Scheming," and dive into topics like Fernet, Jon Bon Jovi and Toby's favorite stage banterist. The idea of something refusing to stay dead is horrifying in both its objection to the laws of nature and the hopelessness it creates for the victims. What can one do when confronted by something that seemingly can't be killed? This idea has been explored in Romero's zombie films and King's Pet Semetary as well as countless others. This week, Jerry and Matt look at two examples with Friday the 13th Part 6, Jason Lives from 1986 and Planet Terror, from 2007.
In this weeks episode, we delve into the captivating story of Scott Scurlock, known as the 'Hollywood Bandit.' We discuss Scurlock's dramatic life, including his early foray into the drug trade while still in college, and how he would later pull off 18 daring bank heists in a 4 year span, amassing over 2 million dollars before a final dramatic robbery led to his demise. . https://www.horrorhousetruecrime.com/ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/hhpod Insta: @horrorhouse_pod . There are few figures of the 'Wild West' that carry as much lore and legend as Jesse Woodson James. A former Confederate guerrilla turned outlaw, Jesse was portrayed as an outlaw hero, who only stole from the rich to give to the poor. But, this would really only be a myth, and Jesse James was not the hero he was portrayed to be, but rather a cold blooded criminal and murderer. . https://www.horrorhousetruecrime.com/ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/hhpod Insta: @horrorhouse_pod . This week, we're talking comic book news and covering FOUR comics. Our topics include: The Thunderbolts Asterix, How lucky Marvel is to have casted Florence Pugh when they did, Bleeding Cools "Big Vague Article" claiming massive industry news is coming soon, a Joker graphic novel coming out featuring stories from around the globe, DC Elseworld reprints inbound, & X-Men books popping up in value due to X-Men 97 (cartoon) hype. For our comics, Feral is a cat based comic from the team who brought you the indie hit Stray Dogs, Morning Star is shaping up to be an eerie family thriller out on Mad Cave, Bad Girls 1 is kind of misleading as a first issue (You should view it as a Local Man Annual), and Eric Powell's Goon returns for a new four part mini-series called "Them That Don't Stay Dead".
Some people murder for money. Some murder for sport. But in the case of Joanna Dennehy, she murdered three people and attempted to kill two more because she wanted the fame that goes along with the most infamous of killers, and she found killing 'fun'. But, what turned Dennehy into one of the most infamous killers the UK has ever seen? And why did she find taking human life so entertaining? . https://www.horrorhousetruecrime.com https://www.buymeacoffee.com/hhpod Insta: @horrorhouse_pod .
