In this week's episode, Celeste Rains-Turk reintroduces Tamara Haddad, a previous guest from the beginning of her podcast who has since retired from the IFBB division. While she may be retired from competing, Tamara is still well-known for her excellent posing coaching and active in supporting other competitors. To Begin, Tamara opens up to Celeste about her last show, the Arnold Classic Australia, in 2017. She admits to post-show months of rebounding, feeling depressed, and unmotivated. Tamara explains how her biggest struggle was learning how to balance fitness as a lifestyle instead of a competition. She states it took approximately 9 months to get back into shape and how the slow and steady approach gave her the lifestyle shape she always dreamed of having. Tamara is thankful to have had the chance to compete at The Arnold and Olympia and uses her experiences to coach other competitors to these elite stages. Tamara explains how the hardest part about overcoming post-competing blues is the mental changes and lifestyle adaptations. Tamara tells Celeste how she used to believe you couldn’t take rest days, and now realizes that taking rest days allows for muscles to heal, bones to repair, and mind recovery. Tamara no longer has food guilt and chooses to eat three fuller meals instead of five portion-controlled meals. Tamara and Celeste discuss the heavy and often disregarded topic of addiction in the bodybuilding sport. Tamara admits she was addicted to competing, Adderall, Xanax, and sex which reared its ugly head after retiring. Tamara decided to cleanse her body, mind, and soul and admits to having a predisposition to extreme addictive characteristics. She started her recovery by doing a 90-day commitment, sun healing, and focusing on spiritual growth. While Tamara was afraid of her true self without the title of IFBB pro champion, she worked with God to release those stigmas. Tamara happily expresses she is now three months clean of prescription substances! Celeste and Tamara open up about the breakup from her fiancé and how she was struggled with intimacy with partners since. In addition to healing herself, she admits to Celeste how she avoided masturbation to build up her “spiritual soul” She states since her 90 day commitment cleanse, she is now able to have a sexual relationship with a partner and raise her vibrations/energy. Tamara states how online competitions is “the future of bodybuilding”. She praises the division for transforming to an online stage and is pleasantly surprised how successful the first one was in July. In the future, she is hoping the Top 10 gets more prize money to help boost audience participation and reimburse competitors for their hard work. Finally, Tamara gives viewers advice to competitors who feel addicted to the identity of the sport. Tamara’s honesty and open conversations provide an episode you do not want to miss! Grab your Bikini Diarie's Honorary Tee to support the podcast https://naiymafit.com/shop/ Use code: bikinidiaries for 20%off For the first time in Bikini Diaries, we get to hear from someone living on the other side of the planet. What excitement! Now, think about these two scenarios: You want to do something and you have widely available opportunities - all you have to do is put in the work. On the other hand, you want to do something but you have limited opportunities. While bikini competition may be popular in some parts of the world with diverse platforms where you can accumulate your points, this is not the case for every athlete. For some contenders, it is an extreme struggle to garner enough point due to limited shows in their home country. This makes it even more difficult for them to achieve the very goal that most bikini girls, if not all, want to achieve, which is making it to the Olympia. On the occasion you fall in the first category, you are very lucky and you should not leave any opportunity unturned to achieve your goals. If not, this should not deter you from achieving your goals because as always, I got you. Jade McKee is a true example that hard work pays. Jade McKee is an IFBB professional, a Posing Coach and a Physiotherapist. Jade kicked off her fitness journey in 2011 and competed in her first-ever bikini competition in 2012. Reaping the benefits of her hard work, Jade won overall Women's Bikini Fitness title at the Arnold Classic Australia in 2015. For the fitness enthusiast, this was her 17th show in six successive seasons in three years. Jade has competed in international shows such as the heavily contested Arnold Classic Europe where she took the fifth spot in her division. In the meantime, her plan is taking a one year break from the sport. Today, in this episode, Jade shares with us her many attempts to stepping on stage after achieving her pro card and why it took her almost two years to do her pro debut. She will also share with us how she battled depression and the method she took to overcome this. Furthermore, we will also discuss her experiences of working with the well-known coach, Kim Oddo, and how the tactics she learned from him differed from using a registered dietitian. So much content we have in store to explore today. So without further ado, let's get into it. Takeaways Live life with no regrets Build your own enthusiasm Don't just set goals, work toward achieving them Don't give up on your dreams Always remember why you started in the first place If you really want to do it, it is possible Surround yourself with a supportive team It takes time, but just keep working Be comfortable with how you look Do the best you can do and keep growing the best you can Don't put too much pressure on yourself Don't get knocked down when you get feedback from the judges that you might not feel is right Keep working, keep showing up Important questions [00:06:05] How many years have you been competing?
