We discuss the explosion of NPC and IFBB Pro cards, whether becoming a pro bodybuilder means the same thing it once did, and how these changes may be affecting the future of competitive bodybuilding. In bodybuilding, the stage rewards comparison. But real success? That goes far beyond trophies, placings, or social media highlights.
In this episode, our hosts dive into what it truly means to earn a pro card and whether the pursuit of the title is really worth it. Evan, an IFBB Pro, shares his firsthand perspective as an athlete, while Paul and Lexie offer their observations from working closely with competitors throughout the journey. Together, they discuss the realities of chasing the dream, what can happen once the goal is achieved, and the mindset shifts that often come along with it. This episode offers plenty of thought-provoking conversation and valuable insight.
Flex Athlete and (new) IFBB Pro John Harsudas talks with the boys about the day it all happened, his mindset on the trek to the Pro Card, and what's next to come. They also cover questions like, pros and cons of entering packed VS quiet shows. if judges should withhold pro cards from winners, if there's value in limiting growth to stay under a weight cap, and much more. In this week's episode of Bikinis After Babies, we welcome Brooklyn Goodsell, an IFBB Fit Model Pro, wife, mother and online coach. Brooklyn's story is one that will truly resonate with so many women — especially mothers who have walked through the physical and emotional challenges that come after childbirth. Brooklyn battled postpartum depression after the birth of her son 6 years ago— a mental health struggle that SO many women silently battle, yet so few openly talk about. Brooklyn turned her deepest struggle into her greatest strength, using that pain as fuel for her transformation. Through relentless dedication, she rebuilt her body and mind, stepping on stage in the bikini division and eventually fit model this past year and earning her IFBB pro card at the 2025 Olympia Amateur after 10 years competing.Brooklyn shares how she navigated getting back on stage after having her son and working through the setbacks and obstacles that she faced along the way as well as making the switch to fit model in 2025 after a disappointing finish in her final bikini competition. Brooklyn talks about the mental fortitude required to keep showing up as she battled for her pro card this season, eventually taking home that title and accomplishing her goal of becoming an IFBB pro!! Brooklyn's story serves as a beacon of hope for women facing similar challenges, emphasizing that persistence and self-belief can lead to achieving one's goals. We hope that you enjoyed this episode and if so, we would LOVE it if you would rate, subscribe, and leave us reviews on how this podcast has helped you

In this week's episode of Bikini's After Babies, we are joined by IFBB Fit Model Pro Meaghan Taylor. Meaghan earned her pro card at NPC North Americans this past August winning her Fit Model 45+ class and taking home the 45+ overall to clinch her spot in the pro league!!Meaghan is a wife, a mother of 3, an acute care nurse practitioner and a former marathon runner! Meaghan turned her passion for running into a passion for weight lifting after her third pregnancy when things just didn't seem to “go back” to the way they were pre-baby. She competed in her first bikini competition in 2017 and wasted no time hitting the national stage. Meaghan shares her journey of competing back to back summers on the national circuit, coming close to her IFBB Bikini pro card numerous times. This year, with the introduction of Fit Model, Meaghan decided to throw her hat in the ring and see how she would do after a disappointing placing at Masters Nationals. Despite her reluctance due to the unknown, Meaghan took the stage and brought home her pro card, proving to herself, her family and most importantly her children that persistence pays off!!!!! In this episode, we dive deep into some of the misconceptions of the fit model division and Meaghan compares and contrasts the two, sharing all of her insight into what she has learned in this new chapter of her bodybuilding journey! Meaghan is also a vegetarian athlete who trains exclusively at home in her home gym, proving that success in bodybuilding is not a one size fits all approach!! You won't want to miss this jam packed, inspiring episode!! Send us a textGuest's Fitness JourneyInspired by Ashley Kaltwasser's videos after two years in the gym.Started as a beginner with no athletic background, gained 15 lbs after marriage.Discovered bikini competitions while stationed in Japan with the military, with no social media influence at the time.First Competition ExperienceBegan competing in Germany; lacked stage readiness and had an unfit coach.Struggled with posing and mindset—initially indifferent about placing but later became emotionally invested.Learned it's normal to lose in the first show and not to expect immediate success.Competition History (7 Shows Since 2022)2022: Two shows, lacked proper preparation and results.2023: Competed in Germany, switched to a strict coach 7 weeks out, followed an intense vegetarian egg-white-based diet, and placed 3rd in Texas. Improved posing significantly.2024: Two shows after a 12-week cut, placed 4th in both, including the competitive Republic of Texas show.Lessons Learned & GoalsKey takeaway: Stay consistent with diet and training, no cheating if you want results.Big goal: Earn a Pro Card, grow during the offseason, and continue competing.Key Changes & Support SystemBest improvement: Followed the plan diligently, hired expert posing coaches (Lauren Dannenmiller or Bec from Posing School).Suit color: Aquamarine, perfectly complemented her skin tone.Transitioned careers from photography to vet tech.Training & NutritionCardio peaked at 2 hours/day.Follows a meal plan without focusing on calorie count for better mental adherence.MindsetFocus on enjoying the stage experience rather than obsessing over placing.Accepts the subjectivity of the sport; success requires patience and persistence.Cautions against gambling with shows or coaches—find a reliable support system.Closing MessageEmbrace the journey, celebrate progress, and remain disciplined—it's a marathon, not a sprint.Follow IG: https://www.instagram Welcome to Cupcakes & Protein Shakes, the podcast that gives you the tools and inspiration you need to achieve your fitness and wellness goals.
