I've been fortunate enough to stem from what I would say is the best Coaching tree in the world, in the field of strength, conditioning and nutrition. Here's my tree in no particular order: Louie Simmons - Founder of Westside Barbell, the strongest gym in the world Jay Butler - 20 year strength Coach in D1 and NFL, named D1 strength Coach of the year John Meadows - Bodybuilding guru, top Coach for IFBB pros Scott Abel - If ever there was a PhD in bodybuilding, it would be Scott. He was my first ever Coach Charles Poliquin - Legend in the field, worked with thousands of professional athletes as well as Olympians In today's episode, I cover one key SECRET that I learned from each of these great Coaches and mentors of mine. This episode is short, but there's gold in here if you listen. Be Unconventional, Kyle aka Panda Man P.S. - My new Ripped Dads book is coming out on Halloween. In this week's episode of Bikini's After Babies, we are joined by IFBB Fit Model Pro Meaghan Taylor. Meaghan earned her pro card at NPC North Americans this past August winning her Fit Model 45+ class and taking home the 45+ overall to clinch her spot in the pro league!!Meaghan is a wife, a mother of 3, an acute care nurse practitioner and a former marathon runner! Meaghan turned her passion for running into a passion for weight lifting after her third pregnancy when things just didn't seem to “go back” to the way they were pre-baby. She competed in her first bikini competition in 2017 and wasted no time hitting the national stage. Meaghan shares her journey of competing back to back summers on the national circuit, coming close to her IFBB Bikini pro card numerous times. This year, with the introduction of Fit Model, Meaghan decided to throw her hat in the ring and see how she would do after a disappointing placing at Masters Nationals. Despite her reluctance due to the unknown, Meaghan took the stage and brought home her pro card, proving to herself, her family and most importantly her children that persistence pays off!!!!! In this episode, we dive deep into some of the misconceptions of the fit model division and Meaghan compares and contrasts the two, sharing all of her insight into what she has learned in this new chapter of her bodybuilding journey! Meaghan is also a vegetarian athlete who trains exclusively at home in her home gym, proving that success in bodybuilding is not a one size fits all approach!! A new study is making waves in the bodybuilding community that hints that IFBB professional bodybuilding carries a higher risk of death compared to amateur bodybuilders. Almost 20,000 bodybuilders were followed for an average of 8 years. Results: 1 in every 167 bodybuilders had died and of those 46 deaths were related to sudden cardiac arrest. Their hearts stopped working suddenly, without warning. Among Mr. Olympia competitors, it was 1 out of every 20. What's the cause and are these results to be believed? Here's what you need to know. In today's episode, I chat with IFBB Pro Zoey St. John, a rising star and natural athlete who made her mark in the NPC before earning her Pro card. Zoey took the overall titles at the 2024 Natural Ohio and 2024 Northcoast Championships, and went on to win the Overall at the 2025 Pittsburgh to earn her spot in the IFBB. Introduced to bodybuilding by her father, who competed in the 90s, she shares how the sport has shaped her physically, mentally, and emotionally. Welcome back to another episode! This week's episode of Bikinis After Babies is full of updates!! Gillian is back from Denver Colorado after competing in her first IFBB Bikini Pro show, the Mile High Pro, and Mandy has also returned from Colorado where she underwent a very successful egg retrieval procedure! Gillian reflects on her experience at her first pro show and how it differed from prior show experiences as an NPC amateur. She details some of the travel challenges, food prep hacks while away from home, show day details, judge feedback and the emotional toll of competition. Mandy shares the updates in her IVF journey and the challenges she has experienced both physically and mentally! We talk about the vast difference in our lives this year versus last year but how the complexities that exist in both IVF and bodybuilding are challenging and the highs and lows of both are quite comparable- we are so lucky to have each other and our amazingly supportive audience who supports us through all phases of our lives! We also touch on the impact of the pressure and expectation in the sport of bodybuilding and how this can affect both mental health and the backstage dynamic can be intense! While its common to make long lasting connections at shows and a sense of camaraderie exists among athletes, the pressures and expectations that come with competing at higher levels can cause a tense backstage environment. We share some strategies for dealing with this and overall it's important to enjoy competition day- you've worked hard for it…go out there and have FUN!!We hope that you enjoyed this episode, and if so, we would LOVE it if you would rate, subscribe, and leave us reviews on how this podcast has helped you
