Landing a job in the game industry is often much more than completing a formal degree and sending around CVs. For the most part of its entire existence, the game industry has lacked formal education, such as university degrees, that would prepare the work force directly to the needs of the industry. Instead finding one's way to games has always been more or less about pursuing individual passion and creating one's own path. Acknowledging this legacy, Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (Jamk) and Expa Game Business Cooperative are working closely together to make networking and various work life lessons an integral part of the Jamk's international game oriented Business Information Technology education program.
