HORRIBLE Customer Service | KT Confidential EP 145

On this podcast, episode 145, Adrian and Ariel talk about their customer service experiences with different companies. As Adrian puts it "A true test of a company is how they respond to problems." Here at the KT Team, we pride ourselves on resolving our client's issues. What makes customer service so crucial? It might mean the difference between a successful IPO and simply keeping the lights turned on. Excellent customer service can lead to increased marketing and sales opportunities. As a result, ensuring your customers' contentment is critical to your company's continued success. Customer happiness is even more critical for small enterprises, which have limited time and resources. According to the US Small Business Administration, 68 percent of consumers depart because they are dissatisfied with the service they have received. That is why providing prompt and helpful customer service is vital to customer retention. Customers that are happy are more inclined to tell their friends, family, and coworkers about it. A positive brand experience is likely to be shared by 77 percent of customers. If you have a fantastic experience with a brand, you'll most likely tell your friends about it over dinner later that night. It's understandable; you want your loved ones to support a company you believe in. All of that and more on KT Confidential - Real Estate Podcast. **************************** Feeling tight on money? They kicked off their careers in 2011 and quickly became a top-performing team in the country, ranking 17th of approximately 200 for Century 21 in 2017; as a team of just the two of them compared to much larger teams. They decided that they needed to take their team from being real estate agents in Milton to the rest of the GTA and beyond by expanding and servicing more areas. The team has since grown to have an administrative arm, media department and successful sales team operating a smooth running and successful business. For this episode, we travel, metaphorically, to a town in the Swiss Alps that’s for the first time in 50 years experiencing some peace and quiet in January. This week was the World Economic Forum’s “Davos Agenda,” a conference filled with the usual roster of high-powered speakers but conducted entirely virtually, over Zoom, instead of in Davos. So, as Sheila took time out from helping run that agenda, we invited her colleague Adrian Monck, a long-time WEF managing director, to reflect on the forum’s past and future and how something as anti-establishment as cryptocurrency and blockchain is being integrated into its work. It might come as a shock to the rebellious strain that’s prominent in the crypto community, but its world and that of the WEF have some important similarities. Both must grapple with the core problem of governance in a decentralized environment, with the difficulty of solving problems that serve the interests of the whole when there’s no single party in charge. Both of them grapple with the problem of consensus. As Adrian explains, the WEF tries to resolve this by using its unparalleled convening power. It brings together disparate decision-makers from governments, businesses and civil society so they can find common ground on how to address the world’s many urgent needs. At times, that convening exercise has involved inviting radical newcomers, such as the internet tech community, into the tent. In this wide-ranging discussion, which partly delves into Sheila’s groundbreaking work introducing blockchain ideas to the WEF, we dive into the current challenge for this evolving process: how to bring the crypto disruptors inside.Image credit: Jack Ward/Unsplash modified by CoinDesk

As Adrian explains, Jackfruit is a whole food, plant-based solution that offers an inherently meaty texture. Unlike many meat-alternative products, which are highly processed and require all the additional resources that involves, jackfruit is a natural, whole food option. It is perfect for replacing meat to create delicious meals. Adrian introduces us to The Jackfruit Company who are building ethical and sustainable jackfruit supply chains to introduce this miracle crop to the world.

In this episode, I chat to Adrian Byrt, Relationship Consultant & Events at Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC). This is Victoria’s peak leadership organisation talking all things 'Visitors, Values and Victoria Tourism Industry Council'. First of all, in mid-2016 I had an opportunity to join the VTIC team to manage the Victorian state program. It is called ATAP which is the acronym for Australian Tourism Accreditation Program. We love those acronyms! As a result, I had the opportunity to work in close collaboration with tourism professionals that I have loved and admired for many years. Consequently, this experience was also a great insight into the inner workings of the visitor economy. Therefore it was a new experience at corporate level life and a greater appreciation for corporate governance. Much as I love small business this is something you are not exposed to working in smaller organisations and the experience was invaluable. Furthermore, I worked with a passionate team. As Adrian rightly points out in our chat together, 'they deliver a mountain of work' for their members and wider visitor economy. So, this episode is a great insight into Adrian's journey in tourism. In addition, he shares some solid advice and gold nuggets that new and seasoned experience makers will benefit from what Adrian has generously shared.

Code Switch's Adrian Florido has been covering the new sanctuary movement for us. For this episode, he spoke to key players to understand why hundreds of churches are ready to start a public fight with the current administration to prevent deportations of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally. He also looks at why the movement has to wrestle with important questions: Who controls the story and the message? How much say does an individual or family have in how a sanctuary church leverages their story? Adrian also has a candid talk with Jeanette Vizguerra, who is living inside a Colorado church, as she fights a legal deportation battle. It could be years before she is able to step outside the church. As Adrian reports, the decisions, intentions and relationships complicate the work of sanctuary churches.

Have you ever actually worked out what your hourly rate is? Series: Selling With Confidence. Cohost: Adrian Fadini from Trained to Sell Selling With Confidence Overview. Sales is NOT a dirty word! This is part three of the Selling With Confidence series, named Selling To The Right Customers, with Adrian Fadini from Trained to Sell. As a former plumber himself, Adrian has a very unique approach to sales. Adrian founded and sold a Sydney based maintenance plumbing company, named Plumber To The Rescue and since he left that company, he has been able to focus on his true passion of sales. To hear more about Adrian's story, go and check out episode TSS059. In this series, I have asked Adrian to enlighten us with some of his knowledge and teachings relating to sales within the trades. I hear a lot of people tell me they don't like selling, or they don't know how to sell correctly, however every trade based organisation on the planet is in the business of sales, so being 'good at it', or 'not liking it' is of little relevance. We all need to get over our fear of selling. As Adrian says, "selling is about providing a solution to a problem". This series of podcasts are coming from a man that has certainly been in the trenches as a tradesman. Adrian managed to achieve in his plumbing business, what most business owners only dream of one day being able to do. Building a business that can be acquired. Episode 3, Selling To The Right Customers In the last podcast, we spoke about finding the right customers and in this podcast, we dive into how to sell to the right customers. Adrian went down that path himself back when he was running 'Plumber To The Rescue' and he confirms the turning point for his business was when he was able to re-position himself, so that he targeted a different audience. "It's okay to turn away work", Adrian says. Understanding who you want to be serving is a valuable revelation as it allows you to not only position yourself a certain way, it also allows you to focus on serving that market with your full attention. You don't need to be everything to everyone. Often by doing so, you'll end up being nothing to anyone. Sit down and work out who it is you want to be working for and then form a strategy around making that happen. if you don't know what it is you want however, then it's nearly impossible to work towards it. Episode 2, Finding The Right Customers I'll admit that it took me a good couple of years to find my ideal customer. When we start out in business, we don't always have the luxury of turning away work, so we tend to take whatever comes our way. As our business matures however, we get a better feel for the type of work that we want to be doing and also the type of customers that we want to be working with. Finding the right customer is more of a journey, than a destination. Things change, we change, business changes and as a result, so do the variable that influence us. In this podcast, Adrian talks about the factors that we need to consider when we're trying to find the right customers. For you it might mean finding more of the customers similar to the ones you have, or it could mean looking for a completely different customer avatar. Either way, it's a worthy exercise, so enjoy. Episode 1, Knowing Your Hourly Rate What are you worth? No I mean, what are you actually worth? Have you ever actually sat down and worked out what you hourly rate needs to be in order for you to make money? It's really simple to start a business and think that by charging less than your competitors, you're cleverly outsmarting the rest of the market, however the reality is far more confronting. The majority of business today do not succeed due to the fact that they are not charging the right amounts of money. It might feel like they do, however once they dive in and look at the numbers, at the end of the day their often losing money. Understanding your true overheads is paramount in the success of any business. If you're out there charging $80/hr, are you taking into consideration things like: Office expenses Tools Vehicle costs Staff Insurances Phone and internet Marketing Travel time, etc. In this awesome podcast, Adrian breaks down the hourly rate barrier and pitches it perfectly towards tradies and contractors. Coming from that background himself, he knows how to make it very relatable and applicable. Enjoy episode one and leave us some comments if you like it.
