Overnight, we've got a 20 percent chance of showers with temperatures holding steady around 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Think of it like a light defensive drizzle coming through with east winds at 10 to 13 miles per hour.Saturday's looking like a wet one, folks! We've got showers likely between 11 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Talk about a weather blitz! Temperatures will drop to around 46 degrees by noon, with east winds around 16 miles per hour. Each year, the United States has about 1,200 tornadoes. Many of them happen in tornado alley, a very broad swath of the U.S. that shifts seasonally. This area gets at least ten times more tornadoes than the rest of the world. Science writer Sushmita Pathak says that huge difference can be chalked up to one word: geography.
