The humility of God Hey family, this Sunday our visiting speaker, Brad Franklin, will continue our series called The Humility of God. We'll look especially at Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and learn how we can actually live out the same humility that characterized Jesus' own life. Does that seem impossible to you? If you want to get a jump on the conversation, read Matthew 5:1-12. We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Please invite a friend. Easter is coming up and this is one of the best times of year to invite people into our church family. Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well. --Edwin

Rev. Brad Franklin brings a message of repentance. Watch this episode on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/GjWkLKMLvak Sermon Notes: Context: The prophecy of Jeremiah in today's reading was spoken to the people of Israel while they were in exile. The people had not remained faithful to the covenant made at Sinai. The old covenant will be written in the people's hearts. This section of Jeremiah is often referred to as The Promises of Restoration. The tone of Jeremiah 31: 31-34 is eschatological- drawing on understandings of judgment, fulfilment and end times. Example- "The days are surely coming" (vs. 31) Step in the New- A new Covenant A new chapter in life A new tomorrow A new God-opportunity

He will not leave you nor forsake you.” I will protect you—2 Thessalonians 3:3 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. I will always love you—1 John 4:9-10 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. I will provide for you—Matthew 6:31-33 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. I will give you peace—John 14:27 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. I will answer you—John 15:7 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. I will be your strength—Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. I will guide you—Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. I will fight for you—Exodus 14:14 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” I will keep my word—Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? The promises may be delayed but never denied.

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking. Revelation 4:3 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Revelation 10:1 10 I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire.

Rev. Brad Franklin talks about our worldview. Watch this episode on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/6U7-aixPVaUSermon Notes: Apply the 3 P's Prioritize-Is this a salvation issue? Is this an essential of the faith? How is this important in the Kingdom of God? Prospective-Look up scriptures on that topic. We always want the word of God to define our beliefs about any issue and not read into scriptures to make it say what we want.Pray-Always!
Rev. Brad Franklin talks about our worldview. Watch this episode on our YouTube channel:https://youtu.be/3pSva8swVJo Sermon Notes: Essentials that make up a Biblical Worldview: God is the creator of the world and rules this universe (Genesis 1:1) God's word as summed up in (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God and he lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again from the grave (1 John 4:9-10) The inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the advocate, is key to understanding the bible (1 Peter 1:12). John Wesley is noted for saying that “We need the same spirit to understand the scripture which enabled the holy men of old to write it.” Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions (Ezekiel 18:30-31) The devil seeks to defeat God's plan for man (1 Peter 5:8) Salvation is obtained solely by individual faith in Christ's work on the cross and cannot be earned. (Ephesians 2: 8-9) Learn the truth (Proverbs 15:14) Discern Falsehoods (1 John 4:1) Turn from the World to the Word of God (Romans 12:2) Living a Biblical Worldview simply means that you and I need to see the world in light of God's word not God's word in light of the world.

Rev. Brad Franklin talks about spiritual disciplines and why they are important. Watch this episode on our YouTube channel:https://youtu.be/OIKOGVK0CTc Sermon Notes: Steward in Greek-Oikonomos Examples of faithful stewards in the Bible The idea of stewardship is prevalent in the Bible. Here are six faithful stewards in the Bible.Noah was called to steward the animals and people that God wanted to save from the Great Flood. Abraham was a steward of the promise to create a great nation out of a wandering people, a nation that later became Israel. Moses faithfully stewarded the children of Israel, serving as their guide from Egyptian bondage, and throughout the forty years they wandered in the wilderness. Ezra served as a steward to the people of Jerusalem after they had returned from their 70-year Babylonian captivity. He taught them the law of God and ensured that they kept His principles. The disciples served as faithful stewards teaching the Word of God and spreading the gospel throughout the world they had access to. It's because of their faithfulness that you and I know about the gospel. The characteristics of a good stewardA good steward is trustworthy. 1 Corinthians 4:2 A good steward is faithful regardless of the size of the job she's been given. Luke 16:10 A good steward remembers that ultimately we work for God and everything belongs to Him. Colossians 3:23 “What should rise is not the Christian's standard of living, but his standard of giving.”

And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. The devil said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.' And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.”'” Luke 4:1-4 ESV The Early Church Fasted before Appointing Leaders and Elders, and When Enduring Trials “Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.” Acts 13:1-3 ESV
