In this sobering and soul-searching message, Pastor Karl dives deep into Matthew 5:17–48, where Jesus declares that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it—and then raises the bar of righteousness far beyond anything the scribes and Pharisees ever imagined.Through six piercing examples—anger that murders the heart, lust that commits adultery in the mind, casual divorce, manipulative oaths, retaliation, and hatred disguised as justice—Jesus exposes the truth we all try to avoid: outward obedience is never enough. God judges the heart. Every single one of us stands guilty before His perfect standard.Yet the bad news is meant to drive us to the best news. Pastor Karl powerfully unpacks how Jesus' command in verse 48—“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”—is not a cruel impossible demand, but the very reason the Son of God came. We cannot achieve the righteousness God requires, so God freely gives it to us through faith in Christ. Jesus took our unrighteousness and imputes His perfect righteousness to all who repent and trust Him.A hard-hitting, heart-exposing sermon that leaves no room for self-righteousness, but ends with the liberating joy of the gospel: guilty sinners can be clothed in the very righteousness of God and stand before Him as if we had never sinned. An episode from THE BIBLE Baptist Church, a Bible believing, Bible preaching church in DeLand, Florida. What THE BIBLE Baptist Church (TBBC) Believes:“A church is not a social organization or a club. It is a gathering of men and women who have put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. These people meet together to worship the Lord, to praise Him, to encourage one another to live lives pleasing to the Savior and to be instructed in the truths of the Holy Bible. It is also a place from which these believers go forth, individually and in groups, to spread the gospel of Christ Jesus to men and women the world over. The extent to which the blessing of the Lord abides upon a church and the effectiveness of a church in the aforementioned areas depends upon its understanding of and obedience to the words of God. There are certainly clearly stated truths found in scripture to which all believers must steadfastly adhere. A collection of individuals, each living in accord with their opinions or religious notions, can accomplish little for Christ. A gathering of men and women who have a like-minded faith in a foundational set of Biblical truths can do great things for the Lord.Below are those truths upon which we have built THE BIBLE Baptist Church.Should you have other questions please feel free to ask. Our people and leaders are available and more than happy to let you know what we do and why. It is our hope and prayer that the Lord will direct you to become a vital part of the gospel work which He has given us to do.”You may write to THE BIBLE Baptist Church at:872 Glenwood Rd.DeLand, FL 32720Have A Blessed Day, THE BBLE Baptist Church The KJV Bible Preaching Churches Podcast is directly supported by Doss Metrics LLC | Ministry Services based out of Cleveland Texas. 1 Corinthians 10:14-22The Lord's Supper is more than just a memorial meal that remembers Christ's death. It is a means of grace that nourishes and grows our faith. But what does that mean and what does it actually look like? Does this turn the Lord's Supper into a never ending search for some spiritual experience? How does it nourish and grow our faith?

As the student questions series continues, I'm talking through ideas for conversation inspired from a text we use in Core Theology class at Concordia University-Irvine–Called to Believe by Steven Mueller. In this episode we continue with chapter 12, which discusses the means of grace. Some thought prompts for discussion: Neither closed nor open communion are consistent with the will of God or His good message. Is there an alternative? No human being has the authority to forgive sins Leavened vs. unleavened bread Fire vs. water--how do we think about Christianity? Giver vs. gifts
As the student questions series continues, I'm talking through ideas for conversation inspired from a text we use in Core Theology class at Concordia University-Irvine–Called to Believe by Steven Mueller. In this episode we continue with chapter 12, which discusses the means of grace. Some thought prompts for discussion: I've heard it said, "We baptize babies because they can't believe." What would be a helpful response to this? The phrase "born again" does not occur in the Bible. Is this a surprise? The Bible teaches "believer baptism". What does that mean? "You can't be saved unless you are baptized." What are we to do with this? What about the argument that it's not possible for Jesus to give us His body and blood to eat and drink?

In this episode we turn to chapter 12, which discusses the means of grace. What are the means of grace? And how do we respond to the claim that the sacraments are only symbolic?
Although Abraham had a personal relationship with God, it was also a missional relationship with God. He and God partnered to begin the overturning of a curse which held humanity captive. And this partnership was lived out through worship.
How should we respond to the hardships of God's discipline? I. Help the weary and wounded, vv12-13. II. Pursue harmony and holiness, v14. III. Don't miss grace or grow bitter, v15. IV. Flee immorality and idolatry, vv16-17.
How do Word and Sacrament bring comfort to the doubting heart? In this final installment of our series on assurance, Dr. Cornelis Venema explores how God's appointed means of grace provide concrete reassurance amid life's uncertainties. Dr. Venema unpacks how gospel-centered preaching—proclaiming what Christ has done rather than what we must do—serves as the foundation for genuine assurance. He particularly emphasizes the often-neglected role of the sacraments, showing how Baptism and the Lord's Supper are not empty rituals but visible seals of God's promises meant to strengthen our wavering faith. Whether you struggle with legalistic tendencies, feel trapped on the "anxious bench," or simply desire deeper confidence in God's love, Dr. Venema helps us see that assurance comes not through extraordinary experiences but through ordinary means God has graciously provided.
