On April 11, 2002, a massacre occurred on the streets of Caracas, Venezuela, as rebelling officers and members of the country's Chamber of Commerce attempted a coup against the democratically elected president Hugo Chavez. The coup lasted just two days. The people were not having it. Chavez supporters descended from the hillsides of the poorest communities across Caracas and amassed outside of Miraflores, the presidential palace. They refused to recognize the de facto government. On April 13, Chavez's presidential guard expelled the coup leaders and returned Chavez to power. Pressure from both the people and loyal military forces led to the collapse of the coup government. The people and the military united together to defend their democratically elected leader. The Forming of the Revolution was Televised! The Opposition Gets in Formation at SOTU This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum offer some counter programming to Trump’s “State of the Union” address. On the same days as the speech, Angela Rye along with Joy Reid and others gathered an incredible lineup of Black leaders for a 24 hour livestream, dubbing it The State of the People. Rather than responding to the propaganda, this prolific gathering offered an alternative path forward, choosing to see this moment as an opportunity, not just a setback. Get inspired and energized, watch the full stream on NLP’s YouTube channel and at stateofthepeople.media There was some DRAMA during Trump’s SOTU though. Rep. Al Green was escorted out after he brandished his cane and shouted at Trump, and a cohort of Democrats walked out on their own, led mainly by Black Women of the progressive and Black caucases’. We spoke with representatives on their way out, including Maxwell Frost, Ayanna Pressley, Jasmine Crockett, Maxine Waters, and more. Finally, it looks like the Target boycott had a little bit of an effect. According to Similarweb, Target web traffic was down 1.0% to 4.7 million on Feb. 28 compared to the previous Friday's 4.8 million and traffic on the Target app was down 10.9% to 3.5 million users compared to 3.9 million the previous Friday. The U.S. legal system had been trying for a long time... then one day, they were like, "what if people could experience this as a kind of news-entertainment hybrid?" In the days of radio, it was a case of ignorance vs. evolution centered on a man named Scopes. In the days of television, 1979 specifically, a charming narcissist serial killer defended himself poorly and fronted an air of superiority over the nation. Most of us listening to this show went to a school where we were taught American history. There was a plethora of white supremacy included with what sometimes felt like an EMPHASIS on the successful enslavement of African people. But now as an adult, I had to wonder.. Why did they want us to think that our ancestors DOCILELY bent the knee to the enslaver? Why didn't they want us to know what REALLY happened?? So JOIN US as we discuss the revolution that wasn't televised.. nor memorialized. JOIN US as we discuss the ones that chose to fight.RIP to the victims

This week, we're breaking down Super Bowl LIX—but let's be real, the biggest topic wasn't the game. Kendrick Lamar's halftime show had all the right elements on paper: deep messages, artistic visuals, and a major stage. But did it actually deliver? Or was it too abstract for a Super Bowl audience that just wanted to be entertained? Then, we shift to a lawsuit making headlines—Detroit rapper Dank DeMoss is suing Lyft, claiming a driver denied her a ride because of her weight. It's sparked conversations about discrimination, personal responsibility, and whether ride-share companies should be held accountable for driver decisions. And while Black celebrities have been stacking awards, breaking records, and dominating pop culture, the everyday reality for most Black Americans remains the same—or worse. Are these wins really for the culture, or are they just a distraction from the real struggles people are facing? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

To finish this series of bad ideas, David tries to persuade Gary Gerstle of the futility of televised leadership debates. From Nixon vs Kennedy to Harris vs Trump, do the voters really learn anything from these supposed exchanges of ideas? Are they ever much more than a competition to avoid gaffes? And what did British politics gain when it introduced prime ministerial election debates (apart from a brief attack of Cleggmania)? What an amazing weekend! The British people have spoken as one and said they're had enough of Starmer and his corrupt lying Government. 720 Thousand people agreed with my tweet where I stated that, "I usually think petitions are as much use as a chocolate fireguard but this one feels different." They've lied to get into power. However, unlike the guy who wrote the petition I don't want another election. I want a peoples revolution where we are listened to by those who want to control us. Social media has allowed us to grab the power back from the Elites. They want to rule us but they can only rule with our consent and it's time that they understood that and this is just the beginning of their education! Get involved. Don't be a passive viewer. Robotics and drones are the new "low tech" answer to the First World's exquisite military platform that are over priced and have the same provenance of battleships planet-wide in January 1942. The electronic emissions environment in future conflicts will be a two-way street that will put any active acquisition sensors and attached effectors in the hazards if they emit and remain in one place. Autonomous targeting will become more and more relevant as the speed of munitions increases and the salvo competition costs are driven down. Hypervelocity munitions are here to stay. The life of the light infantryman will change significantly since for the first time in human history, the cost of hunting individual soldiers and small groups of soldiers in an effective fashion has reached a cost in concert with technology [I will treat this with more detail in a future episode on the end of the legacy infantryman]. The Russian Strike Reconnaissance Complex has come of age and the Russians have one of the most effective fires synchronization modalities on Earth. The system is now battle proven in the first near-peer and peer conflict of the 21st century. Fires synchronization is the effective coordination of sensors and effectors in near-real time or real time in a hostile non-permissive combat environment to bring the metal on target.
