We tip off the bonus show this week by talking about Kobe’s old locker from Staples Center going up for auction, as it could go for upwards of $1 million. Rob lets us know that Kobe and Shaq actually had TWO lockers because the lockers were small, and Rob says it was Portland that started the trend of bigger fancy lockers and recalls Denver had the fanciest locker room in his day. Plus Rob weighs in on Landon Miller – the son of OSU alumni Braxton Miller – getting offered a scholarship from FAU at 11 years old, and says the extent of his early recruitment was a bus trip to Kentucky for a small school called Cumberland College. The Suns and Celtics will actually have luxury tax bills in 25-26 that are higher than their actually team salary owed, and Rob feels like Boston can swing it but the Suns really can’t. And we are all in shock about the voodoo of Nick Castellanos hitting a home run during every major world event and wonder if this is worse than the Madden curse. And the Audio of the Week comes to us from an apartment resident who hilariously caught a couple having sex in the shared apartment pool!

Would he have a real shot at becoming the Buckeyes' first Heisman winner inn 18 years? On this Kings of Columbus, Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis use the revelation that Ryan Day dropped on Tuesday -- that sophomore safety Downs could get a few snaps at running back -- to launch into a full OSU Heisman discussion.• Why haven't the Buckeyes won a Heisman since Troy Smith in 2006 and how does their drought compare historically? The guys look at the 17 Heisman winners since Smith and how many Buckeyes finished in the Top 10 in the voting.• Can a defensive player really win it? Bill investigates the seven defensive players to finish in the Top 5 of the voting since Charles Woodson won in 1997 and how Downs compares to them.• What of the could-have-been OSU Heisman cases? Doug checks the preseason Heisman odds on Buckeyes from Beanie Wells to Terrelle Pryor to Braxton Miller to C.J. Stroud as the guys discuss what happened in their Heisman races.• Finally, it's a list of the 10 best OSU Heisman candidates since 2006 -- from Justin Fields to Chase Young to Ezekiel Elliott -- as Doug and Bill decide how the ultimate Downs season would fit on that list. This is a major OSU Heisman dive -- and a discussion of the possible Heisman magic around Downs -- so thanks as always for joining Kings of Columbus on The Podcast.Want to talk even more Ohio State football with the guys? If you haven't noticed, I have/had a lot of bosses in this life. In episode 23 of the podcast, we were joined by Eric Galko, the Owner of and Scouting Director at Optimum Scouting. As so many aspire to do, Eric grew a team of writers into a full-blown scouting service that provides an asset to several pro teams and All-Star game companies. The Optimum Scouting model provides a great template for aspiring members at multiple layers of the football industry. Whether you desire a scouting, writing or business position, you will gain a wealth of insight from Galko's appearance. Highlights from this episode include: ?- How a background in finance and law influenced Eric to take more interest in the business side of football. - Why Eric enjoys some of the "off internet" portions of the job, including working with agents and thinking from a team perspective. - The importance of character in the evaluation process, but why it is complicated and his experience with Connor Cook's parents this season. - Eric notes that scouts are paying attention to interviews, why they are becoming important for Optimum Scouting and story on talking to Braxton Miller this draft season. - Taking an interest in not only the players we cover as human beings, but also why Eric loves helping grow the following of lesser known analysts on Twitter by hiring them at Optimum Scouting.
