Coming into the week, we didn't quite know what to expect from the Buckeyes after a dominant performance against a really bad Akron team. However, it turns out a healthy C.J. Stroud is pretty darn good, as Ohio State beat up on Rutgers 52-13 — and it could have been a heck of a lot worse if Ryan Day didn't show mercy to former OSU coordinator Greg Schiano by emptying the bench. Stroud should play this weekend given the fact that he and the coaches are openly talking about his shoulder injury, and they need to have backups prepared to play if an emergency arrives. Also, Ryan Day said the right things in his press conference on Tuesday, but the Holy Land boys think that whether or not the coaching staff can come together around a single defensive game plan will determine whether or not they are able to make the needed adjustments to turn the season around. Ohio State fell 35-28 to the Ducks on Saturday afternoon, and shortly thereafter Gene and Josh got together to fire off some #takes. The sentiment is the same across all of Buckeye Nation — the defense simply wasn't good enough, and the coaching staff on that side of the ball is largely to blame. Some are down on CJ Stroud, but the Holy Land boys aren't ready to give up on him just yet. While there were some familiar issues on the defense, given the injuries and the bizarre rotation, there were plenty of things on that side of the ball to be encouraged by. The offense struggled in the second quarter, but the unit looked strong the rest of the game, and for his struggles on seemingly easy passes, C.J. Stroud put up pretty impressive numbers in his starting debut, Chris Olave continued to show why he's the No. 1 wide receiver in the country, and Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson proved that they are legit home run hitters at running back. The hosts are new, but the sarcasm hasn't changed a bit. Join Gene Ross and Josh Dooley all year long as they break down everything going on in Buckeye Nation on Land-Grant Holy Land's flagship podcast. On today's episode, Gene and Josh get into the Supreme Court's 9-0 ruling before diving into Ohio State recruiting as the month of June winds down. They discuss whether or not the OSU paparazzi showing up at the airport helped or hurt J.T. Tuimoloau's recruitment, what Palaie Gaoteote brings to Ohio State's new two-linebacker set, and they wrap up the rest this past recruiting weekend. They also break down what type of team Ohio State mens' basketball will be if E.J. Liddell and Duane Washington Jr. come back for another season in Columbus. Moving from current (or "current") OSU players to former OSU players, Gene and josh get into the recently announced TBT bracket and how much fun it is to be able to watch the familiar faces of Carmen's Crew back on the court.
