If you lived in North Jersey in the late 1980s, you would have come across the band The Selves. The band, started by Mike Reilly on vocals and guitar, eventually grew with Paul Fisher - on guitar, Steve Raimo - on drums, and Mike Santoro - on bass, with John Raso as their manager.Hoboken, New Brunswick, Haledon, New York, and a few trips across the country - they played hundreds of shows over almost ten years. Here, The Selves are together for the first time in six years and the first time putting their band's history in one long line. Please note - this podcast is a long one, but it's one from the heart. - Doug
This week, DJ explains helpful ways to support a local band. Also on today's show: changes over the past nine years, wondering what kinda asshole talks for an hour, the joys of a passion project, sporting a beard for November, the demand to deliver the goods, tabulating Boxgiving, Dr. Evil's new Number Two, with further ado, the loss of the Brighton Bar and the drive to rally together, appreciating the work of journalists, changing addiction behaviors, to box or not to box horns, investing yourself in the lyrics you write and MORE! This ain't your mom's lunch box. #onthebox Be social with DJ and Revel 9: https://linktr.ee/revel9 https://www.revel9.com Music: Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/y4pjyokr Apple: https://tinyurl.com/yy6od4mz Physical: https://revel9.com/store Social: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/revel9band FB: https://www.facebook.com/revel9 IG: https://www.instagram.com/revel9band TW: https://www.twitter.com/revel9 #youtuber #revel9 #hardrocklunchbox #thetoptwenty #todaysrant #99wnrr #streamingradio #radiohost #advice #culture #lifestyle #episode100 #episode100 #supportlocalbands #passionproject #beard #noshavenovember #boxgiving #drevil #numbertwo #ado #brightonbar #longbranch #surftaco #rally #supportlocalbusiness #journalism #safeinjectionsites #addiction #horns #lyrics #invest
Luke Brown came into our local scene at an odd time , post covid our main mic at the Brighton Bar in long Branch had been a spot for a good couple years and now we've been at our new Monday mic at the Nip and Tuck bar still in Long Branch New Jersey which we share with a renaissance of poets , we get into his start in comedy and he showcases his personality super well in the introductory phase of the podcast. We became fast friends when he mentioned being a fan of Daniel Tosh and we instantly bonded over liking offense and well written jokes, falling into the rabbit hole of stand up comedy.

Legendary Comedian, Dan Farley, joins the Highway Diary podcast to do some stand-up at the Brighton Bar. We talk about a terrible date he was on. Nazi's in Argentina, and the time he made a sex-tape.
CUBA GOODING JR SAID WHAT AT A NIGHT CLUB? JUDGE JOE BROWN'S BEEFING WITH YOUNG THUG!? WHAT IS UP WITH IMPRACTICAL JOKERS' STAR JOHNNY HOLLYWOOD?!? All questions are answered and discussed on this week's episode. Brighton Bar bartender, roast enthusiast and stand up comic Ziggy Bryson joins the lads for a riff heavy discussion. For about the first hour, the guys get into their worst horror movies they've ever seen. The following discussion includes Cuba Gooding JR being a party animal, Judge Joe Brown on Vlad TV, Mac Lethal, Watsky, John Hollywood's wonderful youtube channel and a little bit more. Also, Dan has a bit of an announcement to make about a full blown show in the future (when the world isn't burning).

Brighton Bar regular and juvenile delinquent Dylan Trimboli joins Dan and Liam on this METAL AS HELL episode of Foul House Mates (which was totally not intended). Discussions include the band Tool, best chicken wing spots in Jersey, Dweck's top 50 metal bands list, stand up comedy slowly coming back to the tri-state area, Bam Margera, terrible album singles, Dylan not writing much during quarantine and a couple extra topics...oh and Dan's obsession with Richard Dweck continues throughout this episode.
Brighton Bar stand up regular and Kearny Commission associate Gary Mclain joins us this week for an in depth discussion on the Roast of Richard Dweck...again. However, that's not all there is on this sick episode right here! Discussion includes Chaz Seattle, Ben Williams the joke thief, the worst top 50 movie list of all time, Tom Silver being old, uncomfortable open mic performances, Liam's terrible Sesame Street bit, Dweck's comedy credits (or lack there of), Union scam mics, Air Wolf and much much more.
Join me and one of the self-proclaimed silliest dudes I know, comedian Mike Cava, on a ridiculous laugh-filled adventure. Together Mike and I nerd out on such topics as his legendary comedy idols, the deliciousness that is cereal milk, the monotony of Hollywood, how grotesquely vile Ren & Stimpy was, running pig races at a local farm, how baller my apartment is & pineapples on pizza (controversy warning). Follow Mike Cava on Instagram @cavacash See him live Monday nights at Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ @ 9pm
After a week off, the Mai Tai Happy Hour boys are back with a full (non-spoiler) review of the new season of Luke Cage and why you might want to wait to see it.
