Women's Leadership, Women's Career Development, Business Executive Coaching & Podcast by Sabrina Braham MA PPC

EXECUTIVE SUMMARYIn 2026's 'forever layoff' era, women leaders who master continuous improvement leadership outperform peers, reduce their layoff risk, and accelerate promotions. Olaf Boettger's 27-year Kaizen framework — courage, humility, discipline — turns daily small improvements into extraordinary career results.Key stat: Toyota workers are 2x more productive than competitors using this same system.? QUICK TAKEAWAYS•       Continuous improvement leadership doubles your career productivity vs. peers who stop learning•       The 3 capabilities every woman leader needs: courage to name problems, humility to keep learning, discipline to stay consistent•       Kaizen's daily 15-minute team meeting is directly applicable to your own career self-management•       GE's turnaround under Larry Culp proves CI works in any industry — finance, tech, healthcare, or your own career•       In 2026's 'forever layoff' climate, CI skills signal indispensable strategic value to any organizationIf you're a woman leader in 2026, the job market has changed dramatically — and not in your favor. Glassdoor's Worklife Trends report calls it the 'forever layoff': small, rolling cuts that never make headlines but keep talented executives in a constant state of anxiety. Meanwhile, AI is reshaping roles at every level, and the competition for standout positions has never been fiercer. As an executive coach with over 30 years of experience (MA, MFT, PCC) and host of the Women's Leadership Success Podcast — ranked in the top 1.5% globally with over 750,000 downloads — I've interviewed more than 144 of the world's top leadership experts. When I heard Olaf Boettger's approach to continuous improvement leadership, I immediately knew this was the missing framework most women leaders had never considered.Olaf spent 27 years at Procter & Gamble and Danaher — two of the most operationally excellent companies on earth — mastering the Japanese Kaizen philosophy. What he discovered translates directly to career acceleration: the same system that doubled Toyota's worker productivity and powered GE's biggest turnaround in American history can supercharge your leadership brand and make you the candidate no one can afford to pass over. The 2026 Career Reality: Why 'Working Hard' Is No Longer Enough The data is sobering for women leaders right now. According to Glassdoor's 2025 Workplace Trends report, small layoffs — under 50 people — now represent 51% of all job cuts, up from just 38% in 2015. These 'forever layoffs' create cultures of anxiety where talented women question their value daily. At the same time, female manager engagement dropped seven percentage points in 2025 alone — the steepest decline of any group, according to Gallup research. Women leaders are being asked to do more with less, carrying teams through AI disruption and RTO mandates, while their own career advancement stalls. The traditional answer — work harder, be more visible, volunteer for every high-profile project — simply isn't scaling. In a market where 45% of employers rate the job outlook as 'fair' at best, you need a completely different strategy. You need continuous improvement leadership. ? Ready to transform your career trajectory?  Download our FREE Leadership Branding Blueprint Accelerator and discover:•       A proven system to document your impact and accelerate promotions•       How to build a leadership brand that makes you the obvious choice•       A measurable framework for expanding your organizational influence•       Strategic positioning for high-visibility, career-defining initiatives•       The same approach Sabrina uses with Fortune 500 executives to 3x their promotion speed? GET YOUR FREE LEADERSHIP BRANDING BLUEPRINT ACCELERATOR What Is Continuous Improvement Leadership? The Kaizen Framework Explained Continuous improvement — known in Japanese as Kaizen, meaning 'change for the better' — originated at Toyota nearly 90 years ago. After World War II, with limited resources and a need to compete globally, Toyota developed a system to extract maximum quality and efficiency from every process. That system, now called the Toyota Production System, became the foundation of what we know as Lean, Six Sigma, and the Danaher Business System. For women leaders, continuous improvement leadership means applying these same principles to your career, your team, and your organization. It is not a one-time initiative or a January resolution. It is a daily practice — a permanent operating system. The Three Foundation PrinciplesOlaf distills continuous improvement leadership into three core principles:Kaizen — The belief that there is always a better way. This is not about being self-critical; it is about being growth-oriented. Every interaction, presentation, and leadership decision is an opportunity to iterate and improve.Go to Gemba — Go to the real place. Stop relying on slide decks and secondhand reports. As a leader, this means visiting your stakeholders, understanding what your team actually experiences day-to-day, and staying close to the work that creates value.Customer focus — Always anchor to what your 'customer' values. In a career context, your customers are your executive stakeholders, your team, and the business outcomes you're hired to deliver. Everything you do should be filtered through: does this add value for them? The Three Capabilities That Determine SuccessAccording to Olaf, your mindset determines everything. Leaders who succeed with continuous improvement possess three non-negotiable capabilities:CapabilityWhat It Looks Like in PracticeWhy Women Leaders Need It NowCOURAGEHonestly naming when your performance or your team's is 'red' — even when the culture rewards positivity over truth. In 2026's performance-pressured environment, leaders who surface problems first are seen as strategic — not weak.HUMILITYStaying open to learning regardless of your experience level. As Olaf says: the best leaders he's known, including P&G's CEO A.G. Lafley, were the most humble.Imposter syndrome tempts women to prove they already know everything. Humility is the counterintuitive superpower.DISCIPLINEShowing up for improvement consistently — not just in January. Committing to the decade, not the quarter.Career advancement compounds. The women who stand out in 2026 are those who have been quietly improving for years. The Business Case: What Continuous Improvement Leadership Actually Delivers For skeptics — and Olaf acknowledges that many leaders initially resist this approach — the numbers make a compelling argument. Toyota, the originator of this system, generates roughly twice the revenue per employee compared to its nearest competitors. Danaher, where Olaf spent the bulk of his career, has sustained approximately 15–16% compound annual growth for 40 consecutive years. The most visible example is GE's transformation under Larry Culp — the former Danaher CEO who took over when GE was in deep financial trouble. Using continuous improvement as the operating backbone, Culp and his teams executed what many consider one of the greatest corporate turnarounds in American business history, eventually splitting GE into three highly successful independent companies. On a practical level, Olaf shared a specific case study from a Danaher acquisition: a company delivering orders on time just 50% of the time. Using CI methodologies, that number rose to 95%. For context, if Amazon delivered your packages on time half the time, you'd stop using Amazon. A 45-percentage-point improvement is not incremental — it's transformational. TRY THIS NOW (10 Minutes)Apply Olaf's Red/Green method to your career right now: Identify one goal you have for your career this quarter (promotion, salary increase, high-visibility project).Set a specific target. Write your current actual. Color code it: are you green (on track) or red (below target)? If red — write one sentence explaining why. Then write one action you will take this week to close the gap. That's continuous improvement leadership in action. Do this every Monday.  How to Apply Continuous Improvement Leadership to Your Career in 2026 The beauty of Kaizen is that it scales from a Toyota factory floor to your personal career strategy. Here's how to translate Olaf's framework into your daily leadership practice:The 15-Minute Daily Leadership HuddleAt every Danaher facility, teams hold a 15-minute standing meeting every morning. They review five metrics — safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity — and ask: are we red or green? If red, why? Who does what by when? For your career, your five metrics might be: stakeholder relationships, project delivery, skill development, visibility, and team performance. A daily or weekly 10-minute self-check asking those same questions creates the discipline of continuous improvement at the individual level.Visual Management for Your CareerOlaf emphasizes making performance visible. In organizations, this means color-coded boards. For your career, this translates to maintaining a simple achievement tracker — a running document of your wins, metrics, and impact — that you review weekly. This directly feeds your Leadership Branding Blueprint and becomes the evidence base for promotion conversations. The Growth Mindset + Kaizen ConnectionOlaf's PhD research connected him deeply to Carol Dweck's work on fixed vs. growth mindsets. Dweck's research demonstrates that individuals who believe abilities can be developed through dedication consistently outperform those who believe talent is fixed. Continuous improvement is the operational expression of growth mindset — it gives you the system that turns that belief into measurable career results. Your 7-Step Continuous Improvement Career Action Plan Step 1 (10 min): Define your career target.

How can we motivate children to do well at school and home?Engendering motivation in children can be divided into two key areas: intrinsic motivators, i.e. the motivation that comes from within a pupil, such as having a sense of success when completing a task, and extrinsic motivation, that which is developed by external factors, like praise and stickers. In this episode, Isabel and David are joined by an old friend, co-founder of the pod, Ross Borthwick, to consider the question of motivation. In this discussion about education and the best way to inspire children, they drift perilously close to discovering the meaning of life!

Across the country, proficiency is sliding and absenteeism is climbing, yet there is a practical path that moves the needle. In this episode of Change Starts Here, host Dustin Odham makes a case for student ownership as the missing engine behind academic improvement, engagement, and long term readiness. Dustin connects national context to daily classroom reality, then shows what ownership actually looks like, students tracking goals, reflecting on data, leading discussions, and taking the mic in conferences with families. He explains why even small shifts can spark big belief, and why strategies do not stick without a culture that invites students to lead their own learning. If you are a district leader, principal, or teacher who wants higher engagement and better results, let your students run the classroom, and see how they take off.Host: Dustin OdhamTimestamps: (00:00 - 00:24) Open and setup. This is a reshare of my interview with Jess Leondiou, originally featured on Make Your Mind podcast.I am grateful to Jess for graciously allowing me to repost our conversation from earlier this year.About Make Your Mind PodcastHow do our minds really work? How different are we from one another? What is the science behind our interactions, and how do we fit into the larger collective of consciousness? Make Your Mind explores these profound questions with curiosity and dedication to expanding our understanding of ourselves and the world. Jess brings together experts from various fields - those who study the science of the mind, experts in self-inquiry, and thought leaders with social and cultural insights - for conversations that unpack these evolving topics. Our ConversationIn her beautiful introduction, Jess reflects on how diagnosis impacts our sense of self. She explores the complex territory between finding relief and validation in labels, while also noticing how they can shift our self-perception. As research shows (Dweck), what we believe about ourselves profoundly shapes our behavior, and the language we use becomes central to how we operate.Thank you again, Jess, for this meaningful conversation and for the care you bring to exploring the breadth of human experience!!Originally featured on Make Your Mind podcast : https://creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/makeyourmind/episodes/Emotional-Sensitivity--Intensity-For-the-Neurodivergent-and-Gifted-Adult--with-Imi-Lo-e33ak1nPlease do check out her wonderful work as well! Archley's: https://www.archleys.com/pages/about-us?srsltid=AfmBOoquQqTW2HRBvOofa--49rkIqDCTLQU6qfcOXnxtuCG8rOmj9k0BEggshell Therapy and Coaching: eggshelltherapy.com About Imi Lo: www.imiloimilo.comInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/eggshelltherapy_imilo/ Newsletters: https://eepurl.com/bykHRzDisclaimers: https://www.eggshelltherapy.com/disclaimers Trigger Warning: This episode may cover sensitive topics including but not limited to suicide, abuse, violence, severe mental illnesses, relationship challenges, sex, drugs, alcohol addiction, psychedelics, and the use of plant medicines. Listen to those three questions again - Can I Succeed? Do I Belong? Am I Loved? I'm tempted to feel those questions address the root issue of every human on earth. As I continue to research personal identity and how we as a culture seem to be more fragile and threatened than ever, I feel these questions are primary. So I had a conversation with Dr Gregory Walton. Greg is the co-director of the Dweck-Walton Labs. Dweck as in Carol Dweck, the legend of mindset. Greg is also a professor of psychology at Stanford. Much of Greg's research investigates psychological processes that contribute to major social problems. His research is supported by many foundations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As weighty as all this sounds, Greg's quest is to discover simple psychological shifts that build trust, belonging, and confidence. He's culminated his findings in a new book, titled Ordinary Magic: The Science of How We Can Achieve Big Change with Small Acts. So can addressing these huge questions be so simple? What I came to as we talked, was, yes, the answers can be simple, because they cut to the root cause issues of ourselves. But. I don't call them easy. Not at all. At the top of the show I pull this quote out from Greg, “An hour-long surgery can change your life forever. Is there any reason a precise psychological exercise can't do the same?” But going under the knife is a big decision. So is choosing to believe differently than you have. In 1665, Sabbetai Zevi, a self-proclaimed Messiah with a mass following throughout the Ottoman Empire and Europe, announced that the redemption of the world was at hand. As Jews everywhere rejected the traditional laws of Judaism in favor of new norms established by Sabbetai Zevi, and abandoned reason for the ecstasy of messianic enthusiasm, one man watched in horror. Yaacob Dweck's new book Dissident Rabbi: The Life of Jacob Sasportas (Princeton University Press, 2019) tells the story of Jacob Sasportas, the Sephardic rabbi who, alone among Jewish leadership, challenged Sabbetai Zevi's improbable claims and warned his fellow Jews that their Messiah was not the answer to their prayers. The story of a lone voice against the crowd, the story of a lonely man of faith who insisted on reason in the face of mass passion, Dissident Rabbi is the revelatory account of a spiritual leader who dared to articulate the value of rabbinic doubt in the face of messianic certainty. It is a revealing examination of how Sasportas' life and legacy were rediscovered and appropriated by later generations of Jewish thinkers. Exploring Growth: Key Insights from 'Mindset' by Carol S. Dweck

Chapter 1:Summary of Mindset"Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" is a book by psychologist Carol S. Dweck, published in 2006. It explores the concept of mindset, which Dweck defines as the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. The book introduces two contrasting types of mindsets: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset.1. Fixed Mindset: In a fixed mindset, individuals believe their abilities, intelligence, and talents are just fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that's that, which can create an urgency to prove oneself over and over. Individuals with a fixed mindset are more likely to avoid challenges, give up easily, see effort as fruitless, ignore useful negative feedback, and feel threatened by the success of others.2. Growth Mindset: Conversely, in a growth mindset, individuals understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching, and persistence. They believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Individuals with a growth mindset are more likely to embrace challenges, persist through obstacles, see effort as a path to mastery, learn from criticism, and find lessons and inspiration in the success of others.Throughout the book, Dweck provides evidence from her research to show how adopting a growth mindset can lead to personal and professional success. She illustrates her points with examples from education, business, sports, and relationships to show how the mindset can deeply influence our behavior and our outcomes.Dweck also provides practical advice for fostering a growth mindset, including understanding and controlling our reactions to challenges and setbacks, being mindful of praise and criticism, interpreting them in a growth mindset framework, and choosing environments that prioritize growth and learning.Overall, the book emphasizes that the mindset we adopt profoundly affects the way we lead our lives, suggesting that by changing our mindset, we can gain more control over our success and fulfillment.Chapter 2:The Theme of Mindset"Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol S. Dweck is a non-fiction book that explores how the mindset we adopt can significantly influence various aspects of our personal and professional lives. Unlike a novel or story, this work focuses on psychological concepts and research rather than plot points or character development. Instead, it provides crucial insights into two primary mindsets: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Below are key ideas and themes from the book:1. Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset:- Fixed Mindset: People with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities, intelligence, and talents are static traits which cannot change significantly. They tend to desire to appear smart always, therefore might avoid challenges, give up easily, ignore useful feedback, and feel threatened by the success of others.- Growth Mindset: In contrast, individuals with a growth mindset believe that they can enhance their abilities and intelligence with effort and dedication. They tend to embrace challenges, persist through obstacles, learn from criticism, and find inspiration in others' successes.2. Effects in Different Areas of Life: Dweck discusses how these mindsets influence various domains including education, sports, business, and relationships. For instance,- Education: A student with a growth mindset might approach challenging subjects with determination, whereas one with a fixed mindset might avoid subjects where they don't initially excel.- Work: In professional settings, employees with growth mindsets often innovate and push the boundaries of their abilities, while those with fixed mindsets might stick to what they know best to avoid the risk of...

Dr. Murphy, who is a Professor at Indiana University and conducts research at Stanford University, shared insights into the concepts of fixed mindset and growth mindset. We deep dived into her extensive research on how these mindsets impact motivation, performance, and relationships at work and home. She conducted research alongside legendary psychologist Dr. Carol Dweck, who created the original studies around fixed vs. growth mindset. If you've ever read about fixed vs. growth mindset in the past, you've undoubtedly heard of Carol Dweck, who is legendary in the space. Dr. Dweck mentored Dr. Murphy at Stanford, the university from which Dr. Murphy received her Ph.D. Dr. Murphy's insights can help you cultivate a growth mindset to overcome challenges and achieve your goals. If you want to improve your performance — at work, at home, at the gym, as a world traveler, as an investor, or in any other domain — understanding the research behind mindset is critical. Enjoy! Coaching for Millennials: Career | Life | LinkedIn | Coaching Millennials in Discovering Their Life's Purpose & Achieve Succe

Welcome back to another powerful episode, everyone! Today, we're diving deep into a transformative concept that can dramatically reshape your life – the interwoven nature of your mindset and the incredible potential of manifestation. If you're ready to take control of your thoughts, beliefs, and create the reality you deserve, you're in the right place. Let's get started! Mindset: What It Is and How It Works Definition of Mindset: Your mindset is an established set of beliefs and attitudes that shape how you see the world. Think of it like a pair of glasses – the lenses you use determine how situations and opportunities appear. Mindset Matters: Your mindset impacts everything you do. It influences your motivation, resilience, the way you handle challenges, and even how you perceive yourself. If you want to change outcomes, shift your mindset first. Growth vs. Fixed Mindset: Research made popular by Dr. Carol Dweck suggests we often fall into one of two categories: Fixed mindset: Belief that talent and ability are set, leading to avoidance of challenges and a sense of stagnation. Growth mindset: Belief that you can develop and expand abilities with practice and dedication, leading to embracing obstacles and a love of learning. Developing Your Mindset: Facts and Action Fact #1 – It Takes Work: Our mindsets are forged over time through experiences and messages we internalize. They're not set in stone. Changing them requires conscious effort. Fact #2 – Neuroplasticity: This is the amazing ability of your brain to reorganize itself. With repetition and focus, you literally rewire your brain for a new mindset. Develop It – How? Challenge limiting beliefs: When you hear that inner critic ("I'm not good enough," etc.) examine the evidence. Are those thoughts really true? Reframe negativity: Turn "I can't" into "I can't YET." Focus on growth, not limitations. Empowering vocabulary: Choose words that reflect resilience, possibility, and ownership. Mindset's Connection to Manifestation Manifestation 101: Manifestation means bringing your desires into reality, aligning your thoughts, energy, and actions for specific outcomes. It taps into the power of focused intention. Energy is Key: Your mindset determines your vibrational frequency. High vibes (joy, gratitude) attract positive experiences; low vibes (doubt, fear) manifest more of the same. Your Beliefs Create Your Reality: If you subconsciously believe you're unworthy of love, for example, amazing partners won't just appear. Your mindset sets the stage for what you manifest. Embracing Manifestations' Power Why It Matters: Because you are a co-creator of your life, not just a passive observer. Manifestation empowers you, making you active in designing your ideal future. Busting a Myth: Manifestation is not magic. It IS about focused intention and work, but life isn't a vending machine. Sometimes, it takes unexpected twists on the way to your goal. Manifestation: Call to Action Clarity is King (or Queen): Get crystal-clear on what you want, not just what you DON'T want. Visualize & Feel: Imagine your desire as if it's already real. Engage the emotions you'll feel when you have it. Inspired Action: Don't just sit around waiting. Take aligned steps towards your goals – big and small! Show Notes Dr. Dweck's research about the power of mindset: https://www.mindsetworks.com/science/ What I am reading: "Your Queer Career" Dr. Steven R. Yacovelli Positive Affirmation "My mind is powerful. I choose thoughts that uplift, inspire, and align with my highest goals. I am a magnet for all that is good."   Thanks for joining me!
