When you're in prison, there's not much to do. Some people read; some learn a trade; and one guy made tens of thousands of dollars! Then, we revisit the Cecil and a case we mentioned previously. It's tragic, and it's unsolved. But it's also full of fascinating details! Bonus: Diana *might* end up on next week's episode, and we chat about the cutest animal you've never heard of!
Close your eyes and picture the craziest crime story? Do you picture the "Crime for Dummies" version? Everything cliche and sterotypical? Like someone sat down and asked themselves "what would a criminal do" and then did just that? (no one would do that. That's Crazy). Or is it more like a crime story that might have been made up by a couple of high-as-balls 12-year-olds asked to write a crime story for their creative writing class?
No, we didn't reuse last week's episode. It's just that we actually found ANOTHER couple stories with things like Australia, eggplant, pigeons... Happy Thanksgiving! Don't forget to save your loved one some turkey!
Undeclared eggplant, vitamin bottles of eggs, tortoises in pants and cockatiels in bottles, impossible murders, and all kinds of sh***y facts! This is a weird one! Smuggling Case: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/australiaandthepacific/australia/4445669/Man-caught-smuggling-pigeons-in-his-trousers.html https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/feb/03/pigeon-trousers-customs-australia-dubai Tortoises: https://nypost.com/2016/04/12/man-who-tried-smuggling-51-turtles-in-his-pants-gets-5-years-in-prison/
A wife goes missing - for decades. Who is the most obvious suspect? Could it be the man who never really reported her missing? (CALL. YOUR. PEOPLE!) A husband is murdered, and his body desecrated in a terribly upsetting way. Who should be questioned first?
This month we're replaying some favorites and where better to start than with the first time we ever met Diana!? "I swear I haven't murdered Jordan and taken her body to the middle of the ocean and chopped her into small, edible pieces for all manner of sea li- You know what? That's a lot of detail. No, this week, I have replaced Jordan (who wanted a massage instead of a snowstorm) with your special thank-you-for-being-patient-with-a-late-episode surprise: DIANA (who is apparently cool with snow, and scheduled her massage for later in the week)! Diana puts Jordan and me to shame with a thesis, a library book, and typed, color-coded notes, as well as an awesome story of murder, kidnapping, bank robbery, and surprisingly-good music! Then we learn about ectrodactyly, the circus, and a murderous family!"
Alysa continues the series of episodes focusing on answering listener questions about friendship because often when we need help, we ask the question and then say, “Asking for a Friend.” In this episode, student, Jordan, joins Alysa to answer questions related to labeling friendships, what to do when you feel excluded by friends, and how straight and gay friends can successfully talk about their relationships together. The tragic story of how, during the years between the late 1870s and early 1940s, the states of the American South used the criminal courts to effectively re-establish slavery for hundreds of thousands of black people, and poor whites -- through forced work on privately-owned plantations, mines and factories -- withstanding the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, and the prohibition added to the U.S. Constitution in 1864. You probably noticed no episode came out this week. The reason why is absolutely gutting, but we thought you should know. Diana and her family are going through a truly horrible and hard time. I know all of our thoughts and love are with them. A great way to show support for Diana and her boys is by donating to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Crime Crazy will be back next week with a special guest. In the meantime, #callyourpeople
Crime Cozy returns! Whether it's a lover crossed or a group of people who just randomly chooses you to kill, murder is scary shit. But... is it really a big risk? Find out. And also listen to a couple totally tragic murder tales, because it wouldn't be Crime Crazy without those! And stay tuned for a great discussion of llama shirts.
We really should do a Top Ten ways we really enjoy taking with each other but there are always scheduling issues, audio problems {this episode Eryn sounds like a robot from Classic Doctor Who}, and lets not forget the times I just flat out forgot we were suppose to record. Heck, Eryn was even nearby today and we couldn't find a way of meeting for the first time. {I had a Insta photo planned to say- Look we have actually found a way to schedule a Shortlisted face to face but no new episode} All that being said as we celebrate Tin Pod Radio this week and head into our first convention tabling at Melbourne Toy & Comic Con I want to say thank you to Eryn for putting up with all the issues and dealing with me on a short of semi and maybe not so much sceduled time frame :) Shortlisted, the podcast where the hosts take a Top Ten list off the internet, because there are a few, and talk about it in a timed out amount of space. They just set a clock, and maybe not always at the right time, and talk for an hour, and then shut up no matter if they've made it through the list or not. Welcome to October! It's the time of year for fall leaves, pumpkin spice everything (if you're into that...ICK!) and seriously gory, scary true crime podcasts. But, you know what, every true crime podcast goes that route. So, we've decided to mix things up a little this year. For the month of October, instead of going creepy, we're going cozy! Seriously scary crime stories with super cozy statistics about safety. In our first story, we learn some new vocabulary and what people taste like. Then Diana turns the episode serious with a seriously unhappy ending (but really comforting numbers!) This week, we also want to support some great causes! Jacob Wetterling Foundation has a proven history of helping kids and families. VisionEnd all forms of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation through training, education, advocacy, prevention and awareness, providing care and treatment for children, families, and adult survivors. MissionWe work to end all forms of child maltreatment through education, training and prevention while advocating for and serving children, adult survivors and communities. PEACE OUTside Campus is a non-profit organization dedicated to the memory ofLindsey M. Bonistall. Our mission is to promote peaceful and safe living environments in college communities. Our goal is to empower students and their families to be proactive in safeguarding themselves against crime. To mirror Lindsey's peaceful spirit, our goal is not to create a culture of fear; but rather, to build a sense of empowerment, strength and security. PEACE OUTside Campus offers programs to fulfill the growing demand for safety issues within college communities. And check out This Is My Oldest Story! In the year 2017 a lost podcast was... Start over. In 2017 a podcast episode was lost. Bits were pieced together to make what you are about to listen to.The Powers That Be tried to keep you from hearing this {Actually bad audio equipment and lack of ability on my part} keep this from your ear for all the years {months} since it was recorded. Now you only have to listen to a mild echo and a tiny little bit of background noise to be a part of history. Tonight the lost Crime Crazy Interview episode comes to Tin Pod Radio. This being lost forever would have been a crime. A crazy crime. ..... Hey, did you know I ordered new mics and stuffs. 2018 should be fun. Enough anxeity stalling. Crime Crazy is my favorite crime podcast. Top Five I need to listen as soon as possible when a new episode is released. You would think Eryn and Jordan have been podcasting for years by how good this show is. A 5 star show, a 5 star team. Eryn and Brian talk about the first year of Shortlsited, podcasting in general, and there are clips from some bits cut from shows. Two of the most prolific serial killers in history meet on this episode. Okay, well. They don’t actually meet. That would be horrible! But they are both on this episode (although we’ve toned down the blood, and Jordan is feeling much, much happier about it!) Also, plans for the future of Crime Crazy including a sneak peak at an upcoming episode and a short break for the holidays.

Just by looking at the total length of this months show you can see our team finally hit the goal and finished a list. They had a party. There was plenty of weird food, drinks, people, and creatures. Speaking of weird listen here to Brian and Eryn talking about Ten Weird but really more than weird just usual foods than the normal they encounter and have encountered in their lives. We just set a clock, talk for an hour, and then shut up no matter if we've made it through the list or not. We're not racing against time, we're shortlisting our big mouths. This month's Top Ten list is: 10 Secret Space Mission Conspiracies, found on listverse.com Your hosts in these are Eryn Pluim and Brian C. Williams. Conspiracy Theories have always been around. Rumors, lies, propaganda, all things to usher in the powerful and control the weak. But what we consider a conspiracy theory in a modern world is more towards someone having to find answers not there, or maybe hidden within falsehoods and conjecture to help them through their day to day lives. Are conspiracy theories dangerous, are they any different than believing in a religion or a comic book character, and do they even exist anymore in a information age of misinformation? Question we could ask today but probably wont.
