Ever feel like life is too busy for a garden? Believe me, I get it. This week I am sharing the audio from a 2 day live event I just wrapped up called "The Busy Woman's Guide To Gardening." In this workshop I share how busy women, just like you, and growing overproducing gardens in the space they have with the time they've got. And they are loving it!! You can do it too! This workshop was so inspiring, I just had to share it with you!! Here is what we chat about: ✨ How most women end up in what I call the "garden circus" and what that looks like in real life. (And how to get out of it.) ✨ What growing in the "garden symphony" looks like as opposed to the circus and why you really want to do this instead. ✨ How to transform from a frustrated, disappointed, and unfulfilled gardener into a confident gardener that works in her garden on her time and keeps her harvest baskets full. This episode is garden gold!! I hope that you love it. If you do, get the full 2 days at www.releaseyourinnerwildchild.com/grow. My guest Sharon Hughes is not only an award-winning author but also a confidence and self-worth expert, coach, and speaker. Sharon was not always confident and filled with self-worth though. She shares with us how she grew up with a lot of abuse. Then, when she was 16 years old, she went to a party where she was given a drink with drugs, unbeknownst to her. She ended up being physically assaulted in a garage. Eventually, when she was 17, her father kicked her out of the house. Sharon was able to pick herself up and started her own business that became internationally known for home décor. Her book is titled The Girl in the Garage: 3 Steps to Letting Go of Your Past. But fear not because we're in for an exhilarating ride of insights and empowerment. Listen, I'm not just your host. I want you to think of me as your clarity cheerleader here to help you embrace the wonderful power of clarity.Make it your own. Before I dive into this episode, I also want to give you a personal invitation to my women's retreat. You unlocked the retreat September 14th through the 17th. It's in a couple of weeks. I have a couple of spots left, but here's the key. [00:02:00] The whole weekend is about mastering clarity and confidence. The essential keys, check it out on the website. The link will be in the comments. All right, let's kick things off by diving right into the dazzling dance between hindsight and foresight. Picture this, the past is our personal time machine. Choked full of lessons from our victories and our, oops, it da. But guess what?Real clarity boosts forth when we step up from being backseat drivers to active navigators. Get ready to join me in the art of looking back, not to cringe, but to smile knowingly. We're digging into how past experiences are like breadcrumbs guiding us toward understanding patterns, picking up on triggers, and becoming our very own Sherlock Holmes of behavior. And the best part, this newfound wisdom becomes our compass. Not just for today, but for all of those tomorrows [00:03:00] waiting to be unwrapped. Okay? Emotion, ocean adventure. Listen, ladies. Sometimes life is a wild ride through the emotional ocean. And as women, we're practically emotional acrobats, but sometimes we forget to do our flips and our twists, right? We have to give our emotions a front-row seat. Suppressed emotions will end up years in therapy if you haven't already been or on someone else's couch or just hanging out with the wine bottle on a Tuesday night. My thought behind this is simply this, is that we want to give ourselves permission to feel whether we're surfing on waves of joy or wading through puddles of what on earth is happening. It's about letting it out. Stop holding everything in. It's journaling. It's meditating. It's laughing over a chai tea with your girlfriends or a glass of wine with your partner. It's all about decoding [00:04:00] emotions and becoming the decision-making divas that we were meant to be. How do we do that? How do we decipher from that? You are the one who is in control of your emotions. So do me a favor. Give yourself permission to feel. Feel it. I don't care what it is. Just feel it now. Are there appropriate times? Yes. The answer is always yes. There are appropriate times, but it's not like you can't decompartmentalize. Being able to bring that back and open up that box and boom, guess what? It's still gonna be there. The reason it's still gonna be there is because you haven't dealt with it yet. So whatever it is that you need to deal with, whatever it is that you've been, shoving down, not being able to address its time. Give yourself permission to pull out that emotion and deal with it.Let's talk about setting boundaries for empowerment. Some of us don't realize, but clarity and self-worth are intertwined much like a very delicate dance. As we strive to fulfill expectations and meet the obligations of others, [00:05:00] we often find ourselves compromising our own needs and values, the consequences, the consequences, confusion, and a clouded sense of true desires. We have to learn the strength in saying no when required, and in setting those essential boundaries. And by doing so, we empower ourselves to prioritize our dreams without the weight of guilt. Remember, an empowered version of yourself translates to a future with clarity. We're now gonna address defining your personal values because a life without the bedrock of personal values can be a daunting journey. We're gonna dedicate the time to define what truly holds significance in our lives, whether it's our family, our career, personal growth, or even community engagement. I. We have to remember that the alignment of our choices with these values actually nurtures authenticity and furnishes us [00:06:00] with a compass in the future. And as we navigate with our core beliefs, as our guide, clarity naturally blossoms illuminating the path our hearts resonate with. Okay, ladies, what about our inner g p s? Ding ding, dinging. It's time to fire up your inner g p s. That's right. The a k a. Intuition, trusting your inner G p s often referred to as that gut feeling, right? And if you could see me, I'm doing air quotes, un-air quotes, gut feeling. Think of it as your quirky friend who's always there waving pompoms of guidance. Sometimes it's just a little. Feeling inside that we get that was really a yellow flag. Do I go with it? Do I not go with it? If you have to ask yourself or if you're asking advice from someone else, usually you already have that intuition.Usually, you already have that little thing tugging at you going. Something's not a [00:07:00] right. Something is interfering by embracing our inner compass, that gut feeling, that intuition, that g p s, whatever you wanna call it, your intuition, right? Sometimes when we embrace that, we are going down the right path, sometimes we just ignore it.Highly recommend that we start paying attention to what our intuition is saying. Our unleashing of our own intuition is actually a superpower. We're the only ones that can actually feel it. It's not Hey, did you feel the earthquake? No. That's in your tummy. That's your thoughts. That's in your body, that's in your experience. It's your intuition. But when we are in touch with it, it really can help us with our quest for clarity. Now let's talk about crafting a vision for the future. See, clarity stretches beyond the confines of the present. It extends its grasp into the realm of the future. We yearn for [00:08:00] understanding that setting achievable goals that resonate with our own values and aspirations. We can then paint a vivid picture of the life that we desire, and with a magnifying glass on the finer details, we break into visions into actionable steps. And for that little extra touch of magic, we explore the creation of vision boards, tangible reminders of our dreams, guiding us daily. If you want clarity in your future, I highly recommend a vision board.I love vision boards. It's literally like my ninth year doing it this coming January. I always do in every January. They inspire me. I just feel like I'm a big believer in outta sight, outta mind. So if you want to see your future, Paint your future on a canvas. Start popping up a vision board. Google a vision board.Do all the things that you need to do. Pinterest has beautiful examples of vision boards. Have a vision board party. Invite girlfriends [00:09:00] over and paint your picture. I have clients and friends and associates that have been doing vision boards for a very long time. I used to host. Big, huge vision board parties and it was just a lot of fun.But what's interesting, it's not just that night of magic and creating your vision board, but it's also listening to the magic come tuition. Like literally happening homeowners and families having children and singles having weddings, all the things, it's just so beautiful. So I'm a big believer in a vision board, but also it can really give you an opportunity to see clarity and literally visually see your future love vision boards. I also wanna give you a reminder of embracing change and adaptability. We have to remember that life's road is ever-changing a dynamic voyage. It is. So we wanna embrace the notion that cultivating clarity does not demand having all the [00:10:00] answers instantaneously. It just doesn't. Instead, it's about fostering the adaptability to welcome change. As circumstances shift, we remain open to reevaluating our goals and our aspirations. Remember, flexibility does not signify a lack of clarity. It's truly a testament to our commitment to growth and evolution as we gather new insights. And experiences along the way. Hang on. To embrace change and accept adaptability. I feel like surrounding yourself with support is a huge path to clarity. I feel surrounding myself with support is a huge one for me. A network of friends, mentors, or like-minded individuals really is a part of the journey, right? It's a part of the voyage. And when we explore the significance of nurturing a supportive circle, it just means that our conversations are leveled up. Our seeking guidance [00:11:00] is completely level at a higher level than we've ever experienced sharing experiences and learning and growing from the association around us.I recently did a blog about self-confidence and the circle of association. Do you hang out with women who support your goals and your ideas, or are you hanging out with women who are continually putting you down and poo-pooing your ideas? You never know when the idea is going to be the idea that's gonna fulfill you.See, an idea is not always about making billions of dollars or millions of dollars. How about an idea just for fulfillment? I'm just asking what your circle looks like if you don't have the circle of friends support and mentors seek. Reach, start to grow, start to get out of your comfort zone, and seek those people because those are the people that really give you an opportunity to get real clear in [00:12:00] life.I love it. One of the other things you're gonna do is you're gonna experience people that come in and people that go out of your life, and they do that for a reason, whether it's, again, a negative, toxic friend or associate, or a neighbor or a coworker. It feels amazing when that's been removed from your life.Sometimes those are the people that hold us down. So they muddle our picture, they muddle our vision. We can't see through, we can't see clearly because of that association. So just do yourself a favor. Be mindful. Go down your list of friends of support, and if there are ones that are muddy waters and you know who they are, listen, we are no fools. We know who they are. Those are the ones. Sometimes you're like, okay, insert I roll Nicole. 'cause you're over here going what if they're related to me? What if they are my boss? What if they are my spouse? And at that time, you're gonna have to take a look at when can I remove myself from this association [00:13:00] to gain a supportive association. You have to ask yourself that. Those are the core eight questions you can ask. And I'm not saying abandon ship, I'm not saying, part ways. I'm saying there can be times, pockets of hours, pockets of time in your life, in your week, in your month, that you would be able to remove yourself from that relationship or that friend or family member or partner. To go and gain some support from women and amazing mentors and association that's going to uplift you and then allow you to be in a vision of clarity. I love this for you. Okay. What I wanna do now is give you some tips and encouragement for embracing clarity. Okay. So number one is embrace self-compassion.The path to clarity isn't linear. Setbacks can happen and they more likely will, but be as kind to yourself as you would be to a cherished friend. [00:14:00] Number two, learn from mistakes. Each misstep is a stepping stone, a lesson that shapes your growth. Number three, small steps, big impact. Progress isn't only in leaps, so we wanna celebrate the power of consistent small actions.Trust me when I say that. Cultivate curiosity is number four. We wanna approach life with an open heart and an open mind. New experiences and different perspectives can lead to hidden passions and insights. Number five, mourning rituals. Start your day with intention. Trust me. Whether it's meditation, journaling, or affirmations, morning rituals will set the tone for positivity and centeredness.Number six, let's celebrate that progress. Who doesn't love a good party? Every step towards clarity, regardless of the size, is worth the [00:15:00] celebrating. Number seven, limit comparison. Remember that your journey is unique. Focus on your path, not external benchmarks. Number eight, practice mindfulness. We wanna be present in the moment, and that leads to a deeper understanding of ourself of you, a deeper understanding of you.Gratitude journaling. Focusing on gratitude can amplify overall clarity, what you appreciate, what you enjoy. Always remember, a gratitude attitude will get you farther than anything you've ever experienced before. And the very last one is to stay open to evolution because growth may reshape your goals, and that's perfectly okay.Take those tips and encouragement for embracing clarity and watch your vision like de cloud. [00:16:00] The muddy waters start to come clearer and clearer. Remember, you are strong and resilient. This journey towards clarity is a testament to your commitment to personal growth. And as we transform hindsight into foresight, let's embrace the lessons without allowing them to bind us.This journey unveils not just the path to clarity, but the essence of who we truly are. We're gonna embrace it. And within uncertainty lies the key to growth and discovery. And of course, as we come to a close to this episode, I want you to stand tall Women of strength, women of courage as your guide, lean in, reach out for those ones that support you and your goals. It feels so amazing to be fulfilled and when you have the clarity and when you can see clearly and when you have that your decisions in life are met with purpose. New York Fashion Week is one of the most significant events in the world for designers to showcase their collections and set new trends. As cannabis legalization spreads, designers are rethinking what hemp can do for clothing, especially regarding sustainability. Some designers are using their New York shows to make political and social commentary on the state of cannabis legalization. For NYFW spring 2020, Project Runway superstar Korto Momolu connected with the Colorado-based organization Women Grow to create a collection of 26 pieces that would help destigmatize cannabis and hemp. From athleisure to eveningwear, Korto showcased eco-friendly and sustainable fabrics like hemp, cork, and linen, all through pieces designed to spark a conversation on the growing acceptance of cannabis. In this episode, host Brit Smith talks to Korto about fashion's role in cannabis culture and hemp's role in the sustainable fashion movement. They discuss how the stigma of hemp and cannabis influenced Korto's designs, how she worked with the hemp fabric to make it appear soft and fashionable, and how choosing natural fibers can fuel the growing eco-friendly fashion movement.Follow us on social media @DifferentLeaf and find host Brit Smith @BritTheBritishGet your copy of the spring cultural issue of Different Leaf the magazine at DifferentLeaf.com and find your nearest in-person retailer at DifferentLeaf.com/on-the-newsstand

Alice Vincent is a multi-platform storyteller based in London, and examining with gusto and curiosity the intricacies of words and language, of what it is to be human, to be a woman, and to be always in service to the wonders – large and small, grief-laden and joy-spangled - of everyday life. The author of several previous books, including her nature memoir - Rootbound, Rewilding a Life, Alice goes by the name Noughticulture online. For our final episode in this year's five-part series of Cultivating Place in honor of Women's History Month, I caught up with Alice just a few short weeks ago to talk in-depth about her newest work: Why Women Grow, Stories of Soil, Sisterhood, and Survival. It is a moving, indeed verdant, tapestry of Alice's own story as a woman "going to ground" to grow herself, intertwined with that stories of other women gardening across Great Britain and beyond and what that has meant to their own lives and to our collective understanding of both gardens and women. Since we spoke, Alice has added one more title to her life list: mother. Enjoy! Cultivating Place now has a donate button! We thank you so much for listening over the years and we hope you'll support Cultivating Place. We can't thank you enough for making it possible for this young program to grow even more of these types of conversations. The show is available as a podcast on SoundCloud, iTunes, Google Podcast, and Stitcher. To read more and for many more photos please visit www.cultivatingplace.com.

Joyce has been a fan of Jane West for many years and is very excited to share Jane's story with you. Jane West has evolved from a canna-friendly event planner to a canna brand, and has faced many of the challenges of the cannabis industry including job loss, public scrutiny and a raid that upended her professional and personal life.In 2013 Jane was hosting cannabis-friendly parties designed to normalize consumption in Colorado, but her events were so popular and cannabis so new that in 2014 a SWAT team shut down her 4/20 brunch event. That changed the trajectory of her canna story. Soon after she helped found a women empowerment group - Women Grow - and held the group's first networking meeting. In 2016 she created a first of its kind company making glassware and accessories for flower lovers like her and so many others. On today's show Joyce shows off her Jane West collection pieces, and Jane shares her canna-business saga and how it feels to be a canna mom of teenagers. If you're a business looking to connect with TCMS audience, please reach out to us because we still have 2023 sponsorship opportunities available.Topics Discussed(1:50) Governor Maura Healey(2:14) Zev Shapiro(2:25) Emerge MA(2:45) Cannabis Election Day Wins in Missouri and Maryland(3:30) Six! “I think one of the things that I've learned over time is that, you know, people associate legalization with freedom with like, ‘Oh my god, we get to do this and we get to do that.'
