Vandaag te gast is Dave H A Blank (1953) uit Enschede, Mr Nano, universiteitshoogleraar, voorheen wetenschappelijk directeur van het toonaangevende Nanolab en wereldwijd bekend in zijn vakgebied. Wanneer je op zijn site kijkt, die van de Universiteit Twente, en je verdiept in zijn titels en geschreven artikelen (meer dan 300 wetenschappelijke publicaties), duizelt het je. Logisch, dit is de wereld van high tech, vergevorderde wetenschap waar je het tijdens de dagelijkse chitchat niet zo vaak over hebt. Of… misschien toch wel? Want nanotechnologie bemoeit zich ook met onze gezondheid, met tandpasta, de voedselindustrie, zonnebrand en mobieltjes zo dun dat je ze kunt oprollen! Dave Blank uit Enschede is officieel: Wetenschappelijk Ambassadeur van de Universiteit Twente. Het kan niet anders dan dat dit een superman is die hooguit een paar uur per dag slaapt en supersnel denkt, leest, onthoudt, verbindt. Vorig jaar werd Dave Blank Adviseur Oderzoek van het College van Bestuur van Saxion. Hij gaat het toegepast onderzoek verder ontwikkelen dat is ondergebracht in de nieuwe Saxion Research and Graduate School.Kortgezegd: het is de bedoeling dat bedrijven, instellingen en overheden in onze regio nog meer gebruik maken van de onderzoekkracht van beide topinstellingen. Waarbij Dave Blank zijn kennis, ervaring en een groot netwerk meebrengt. "Zodat Oost Nederland echt een verschil gaat maken”.
