Break 1: 07.14.22 KIA MOG STORY 1: Firefighter Injured As Early Morning House Fire Displaces Family Of 11 In Lawrenceville A Lawrenceville home caught fire early Wednesday after a lightning strike, displacing a family of 11 and injuring a firefighter. Fire crews arrived at 2:08 a.m. to find flames in the attic. While battling the blaze, the roof collapsed, injuring a firefighter who was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries. The family safely evacuated after spotting the fire, and the Red Cross is assisting them. Firefighters controlled the blaze by 2:30 a.m., using multiple units to prevent further damage. Officials stress the importance of fire escape plans and offer community education resources for safety. STORY 2: Gwinnett police launch summer public safety initiative The Gwinnett County Police Department launched a summer safety initiative on May 20 to boost officer visibility, reduce crime, and enhance community engagement. Key efforts include increased patrols in high-traffic areas like malls and parks, daily crime suppression operations, and visible cruise lights on patrol cars. A major focus is community engagement through weekly Chief’s Walks, where residents can meet police leaders, share feedback, and build trust. The initiative aims to ensure a safe, proactive summer while fostering stronger relationships between officers and the community. STORY 3: Gwinnett celebrates grand re-opening of homeless services center and shelter Gwinnett County celebrated the reopening of an expanded homeless outreach center in Norcross, operated by the Latin American Association (LAA) and HTS. Originally opened in 2021 but closed due to flood damage, the center now offers comprehensive services, including a youth drop-in center, a shelter for young mothers, food, clothing, and hygiene facilities. Staff, many with lived homelessness experience, provide case management, housing navigation, and life skills training. The center aims to address rising homelessness, especially among working families and youth, with a focus on stabilizing lives. Critics argue the freeze won't prevent increases tied to fuel and hurricane recovery costs, which the PSC will address next year. Kemp dismissed claims of political timing, emphasizing the freeze's role in attracting businesses. A public hearing is set for June 26, with a vote on July 1. STORY 5: Philadelphia Winn Chapter DAR awards Good Citizens and American History Essay Contest Winners Nine Gwinnett County high school students were honored by the Philadelphia Winn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for their citizenship and writing skills. The DAR Good Citizen Award recognized seniors for dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism, while the American History Essay Contest awarded students for essays on historical topics judged for accuracy, originality, and grammar. En Syrie, après 54 ans d'une dictature qui appliquait une censure implacable aux médias et éliminait toute voix critique, une nouvelle ère s'ouvre pour les journalistes en Syrie. L'agence de presse et les chaînes officielles, qui ne servaient qu'à diffuser la propagande du régime, ont été renversées et de nombreux reporters exilés se réinstallent progressivement en Syrie. Ahmed al-Charaa, le nouveau maître de Damas, a promis de faire respecter la liberté d'expression. Si certains veulent y croire et investissent dans la création d'un nouveau paysage médiatique pour la Syrie, d'autres restent méfiants. Travailler et émettre depuis Damas, en plein cœur de la Syrie. Une scène encore impensable il y a quelques semaines pour Mohamed Al Dughaim, producteur de la chaîne Syria TV, un des médias d'opposition les plus suivis en Syrie, dont le siège est à Istanbul en Turquie. « Nous sommes actuellement dans l'hôtel Sheraton, à Damas, et nous avons transformé une partie des chambres de l'hôtel en studio temporaire pour Syria TV, indique-t-il. Nous sommes arrivés à Damas progressivement avec les forces rebelles au fil des offensives militaires, d'abord Alep, puis Hama, puis Homs, et enfin Damas. C'est la première fois que l'on parle de Damas en étant à Damas. C'est un très beau sentiment pour tous les syriens et pour tous les journalistes. »Financée par le Qatar, Syria TV compte 250 employés répartis entre la Syrie et la Turquie. Sur la terrasse de l'hôtel, un plateau télé a été érigé. La chaîne diffuse des informations en direct 3 à 4 h par jour depuis Damas. L'avenir des médias en Syrie est bien meilleur qu'à l'époque de Bachar al-Assad. »Après 54 ans de dictature durant lesquels aucune critique du pouvoir n'était tolérée, la nouvelle administration dirigée par Hayat Tahrir Sham (HTS) – l'un des groupes rebelles qui a repris Damas – a annoncé début janvier s'engager en faveur de la liberté d'expression, avec quelques limites. « Dans la nouvelle Syrie, nous garantissons la liberté de la presse, mais il existe des lignes rouges sur certaines questions, comme la diffusion de la haine au sein de la société, ou tout ce qui touche à des sujets susceptibles d'attiser les tensions sectaires. Ne pas préserver la cohésion sociale est aussi une ligne rouge », explique Ali Al Rifai, directeur des relations publiques au ministère de l'Information. Le ministère a aussi annoncé que les journalistes ayant collaboré avec le régime devront rendre des comptes. Dans les cafés de la capitale, de nombreux Syriens se retrouvent pour débattre à haute voix de l'avenir du pays. Une scène, elle aussi, inimaginable il y a peu. « Nous sommes heureux d'avoir cette nouvelle liberté d'expression. J'ai beaucoup confiance dans la société syrienne qui est aujourd'hui très éveillée. Rien ne passe inaperçu. Il y a une pression populaire contre toute décision qui serait inappropriée », raconte Colette Bahna, écrivaine et activiste pour les droits des femmes, qui savoure cette liberté retrouvée. Pour de nombreux syriens, la prudence reste de mise. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Horrific Muslim persecution of Christians in Sub-Saharan Africa The Gatestone Institute's International Policy Center has released its report on the persecution of Christians in Africa.   The report claims that the West is ignoring the carnage playing out in Sub-Sahara Africa, and that Muslim “Jihadists are murdering, raping, torturing, kidnapping, enslaving, and, in some instances, burning people alive — across Africa, and now in Syria.” The newly-installed Syrian government and the al-Qaeda-affiliated HTS terrorists, are still conducting door-to-door purges, massacring religious minorities in cruel, sadistic ways. Reliable reports indicate they have massacred 7,000 Christians and Alawites, a sect of Islam. And the death toll is still rising. Jihad is spreading in at least twelve African nations. Muslim jihadists beheaded 70 Christians in the Congo in February. Church leaders are targeted, abducted, tortured, and murdered. Christian villages have been burned down. Plus, pastors, priests and lay Christians have been abducted by the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces. More than 16.2 million Christians in Sub-Saharan Africa have been driven from their homes by jihadist violence and conflict. Women and girls are abducted, forced into "marriage," forced to convert to Islam, raped, and subjected to forced labor. Some are forced to act as suicide bombers or human shields at the hands of jihadis. Boko Haram and the Islamic State West African Province regularly attack, abduct, and murder Christians in Cameroon located in Central Africa. Churches have been set on fire and church leaders and seminary students kidnapped. Plus, the report claims that no Christian is safe in Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa.  Hundreds of churches there have been closed. The Muslim-run nation of Libya, in North Africa on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, countenances widespread slavery, forced labor, and human trafficking. Sharia law is strictly upheld. For a Muslim to convert to Christianity is a crime punishable by death. Any Libyan woman suspected of associating with Christians faces house arrest, sexual assault, forced marriage, or even death. Nigeria remains the worst example of Jihadist murder and mayhem. Tens of thousands of Christians have been murdered and thousands of women and girls have been abducted and subjected to sexual violence. But, do keep in mind what Jesus said in Matthew 16:18. He declared, “On this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” British Christian nurse in trouble for referring to confused man as man More outrageousness from the United Kingdom. A nurse has lost her job with the National Health Service because she was caught referring to a pedophile transgender person as a “Mister.” Nurse Jennifer Melle, age 40, was fired from her job in Carshalton, Surrey, after having to endure the patient hurling racial slurs at her. She added, “I am devastated to have been suspended. … Despite being the one placed at risk, I am the one being punished. The message I have received is clear: I am expected to tolerate racism, deny biological reality, and suppress my deeply-held Christian beliefs." Appearing on Free Speech Nation, she shared her Biblical convictions. MELLE: “I thank Jesus for giving me the courageous spirit, standing on the Word of God. According to the Word of God, Genesis 1:27 said, ‘God created a male and female.' I just stood by it. I said, ‘Well, I'm a Christian woman, and I love the Lord, and I know beyond male and female is an abomination to the Lord. And I can't do that.'” Represented by the Christian Legal Centre, Andrea Williams, its chief executive, criticized the National Health Service for allegedly focusing on trans ideology instead of protecting its staff from racial and physical abuse. U.S.-China tariff war heats up The tit-for-tat tariff war with China is heating up.   On Friday, China announced a 34% tariff on U.S. imports as an answer to President Trump's 34% reciprocal tariff. Yesterday, the U.S. president announced an additional tariff of 50% effective tomorrow, unless China backs down, reports CBS News. Aboard Air Force One on Sunday night, President Trump did not pull any punches. TRUMP: “When you look at the trade deficit that we have with certain countries, way over a billion [dollars] per country. With China, it's a trillion dollars. And we have to solve our trade deficit with China. We have a trillion dollar trade deficit with China. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year we lose with China. And unless we solve that problem, I'm not going to make a deal. “Now, I'm willing to deal with China, but they have to solve their surplus. We have a tremendous deficit problem with China. They have a surplus of at least a trillion dollars a year. And I want that solved. No other President has taken it on.” New Yorkers need “good moral character” before carrying handgun The U.S. Supreme Court let stand a New York law that requires residents to demonstrate “good moral character” before they are permitted to carry a handgun. The law requires applicants to have “the essential character, temperament and judgement necessary to be entrusted with a weapon and to use it only in a manner that does not endanger oneself or others.” Stocks, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq down U.S. stocks are down over the last week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 4,000 points, 11% down for the year.   And the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was down by about 2,000 points, settling around 15,570 points on Monday evening. The Nasdaq is down 19% on the year, about where it was in November 2021.  Court awards 7,000 sexual abuse victims $4 billion in Los Angeles While the state-controlled foster care system is supposed to protect children, the unaccountable system, made up of sinful men and women, has become the predator. Last week, the courts awarded a record $4 billion against the Los Angeles County's juvenile detention and foster care system. The settlement was the largest of this kind, distributed to 7,000 plaintiffs — victims of unspeakable sexual abuse. L.A. officials have issued concerns that the fine might bankrupt the county.  The rise of America's “assassination culture” The Network of Contagion Research Institute and Rutgers University's Social Perception Lab have issued a report concerned with a rising “assassination culture” in the United States.  Especially troubling is the view that 31% of respondents stated it would be at least somewhat justifiable to murder Elon Musk.  And 38% said it would be at least somewhat justifiable to murder President Donald Trump. Among those who identify left of center, 48% to 55% would justify these assassinations. 22 million watched House of David finale And finally, the producers of the Amazon-released program, House of David, announced over the weekend, that the season finale had achieved #1 on Prime. WatchWonderProject took to Instagram with a message: “All glory to God!” Thus far, the program has brought in 22 million viewers. Of Amazon's new releases in 2025, House of David has taken the top position, holding its own in the top 10 for 38 days. Producer and writer for House of David, Jon Erwin, previously produced Christian films like October Baby, I Can Only Imagine, and American Underdog. The studio has announced a forthcoming Season 2. In Acts 13, Paul and Barnabas embarked on their first missionary journey after the Holy Spirit revealed He had set them apart for such a work. When they arrived in Paphos, they encountered a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar-Jesus. Bar-Jesus appears to have provided counsel to the Roman proconsul, Sergius Paulus. In a nation scarred by years of civil war, the rapid collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024 marked a pivotal turning point. The Islamist terrorist group, HTS - once linked to Al-Qaeda - led a swift eleven-day offensive that toppled the government seizing key cities, including Damascus.However, this power shift unleashed a wave of sectarian violence with reports indicating that over 1,000 people have been killed in recent clashes, predominantly from the Alawite minority. Christian communities, too, face heightened threats under the new liberated Syria, with incidents of violence and kidnapping causing widespread fear.As HTS consolidates its control, the nation teeters on the brink with international observers expressing deep concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis and the uncertain future of Syria. Independent journalist Collin Mayfield was in Lebanon with Hezbollah when he learned of the Assad regime's collapse. Collin grabbed his gear and crossed into Syria just as HTS seized control.Mr. Mayfield witnessed and recorded Syria during these initial chaotic days. He visited the Damascus Public Hospital and saw corpses with evidence of severe torture, presumably recovered from Sednaya Prison. He encountered survivors from Sednaya Prison at the Ibn Sina Psychiatric Hospital who were severely traumatized. And of course, he visited Sednaya Prison, notoriously known as the “human slaughterhouse,” where he encountered evidence of extensive torture, extreme abuse, and female birth control pills. After 13 years of civil war, a transitional government is now in charge in Syria, led by interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa, the leader of the Islamist rebel group – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham or HTS. Syria is home to many different religious and ethnic groups and some fear that more conservative members of HTS could influence government policy. Nor is the fighting over. Forces linked to the new government have been battling Assad loyalists in in the port cities of Latakia and Tartous, where dozens of people are reported to have been killed. In our conversations, two women discuss new freedoms but also share fears about safety and women's rights. We bring together three tour guides to share what the country has to offer visitors. We also hear from two refugees, who have returned to the country to reunite with their families.

FACTIONAL VIOLENCE ESCALATES IN SYRIA.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Europe: Rearmament campaigns have intensified over the past few days among most Western-oriented nations. Germany has announced plans to double their defense budget, raising their defense cost to roughly €100 billion per year. This is in addition to a €500 billion investment in their infrastructure. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the implementation of a nationwide training program to prepare all adult males in the country for war.AC: As this announcement was rather surprising, many questions remain on what PM Tusk is planning to implement. At the moment this doesn't appear to be a traditional military draft or general mobilization, but a mandatory training plan/curriculum that all adult males of Polish nationality will be required to complete. Tusk also announced that he plans to more than double the size of the standing Polish military, from 200,000 to 500,000.Syria: Following the fall of the Assad regime a few weeks ago, the establishment of a new regime by HTS has resulted in the situation deteriorating further. Groups of HTS militants have descended into engaging in random violence, often times with no clear end goal other than the murder of their perceived enemies.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In Syria, the situation remains fairly complicated. However, right now the extreme levels of violence can mostly be summed up as the new HTS regime eradicating their enemies or anyone that challenges their rule. Some anti-HTS social media accounts have indicated that the Alawite community is being ethnically cleansed from Syria, with much evidence supporting the mass execution of primarily Alawite communities. However, as usual in the Middle East, much investigative effort will be required to verify the details as claimed on social media. What is abundantly clear, however, is that many people are being systemically murdered en masse by the HTS regime in Syria, mostly in the form of mob violence which is becoming increasingly more organized and deliberate.Other points of consideration are the steadily-increasing border incursions from neighboring nations. As a reminder, both Israel and Turkey openly invaded Syria during the collapse of the Assad regime (taking advantage of the chaos of the HTS advance). Though details are impossible to verify with any veracity, some data (from Israeli sources) suggest that the IDF has consolidated a substantial border expansion into Syria, which in some cases may be dozens of miles. Likewise, in the north the Turkish incursion continues. However, far less information is available to determine exactly how much of Syria that Turkey has carved out for themselves (This is also complicated by Turkey's long history of creating a buffer zone in the north, which was somewhat agreed upon when Assad was in power) However, in response to both incursions, HTS has done nothing at all. This is probably out of fear of poking the bear too much. Assad fled, rebels took over, and Syria changed overnight. Intelligence analyst Ryan McBeth maps out who won, who lost, and what's next on Out of the Loop! Welcome to what we're calling our "Out of the Loop" episodes, where we dig a little deeper into fascinating current events that may only register as a blip on the media's news cycle and have conversations with the people who find themselves immersed in them. On This Episode of Out of the Loop: After over a decade of civil war, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fled to Moscow when his regime collapsed following a rapid 10-day offensive at the end of 2024. The collapse was accelerated by Hezbollah withdrawing forces to fight Israel, leaving Assad's already weak army severely undermanned. The new controlling force in Syria is HTS (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham), led by Hamed al-Golani. While HTS was formerly affiliated with Al-Qaeda, they have since distanced themselves and are showing potentially moderate tendencies, focusing on restoring basic services rather than implementing strict religious law. Turkey emerged as a major winner in this scenario, having strategically supported various rebel groups that helped bring down Assad's regime. Meanwhile, Russia and Iran are significant losers - Russia lost important Mediterranean naval access, and Iran lost a crucial supply route to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Syrian civil war involved over 70 different factions, but they could be broadly categorized into three main anti-Assad groups: Islamist groups (like HTS), Kurdish groups (supported by the US), and moderate opposition groups. This complex web of alliances and conflicts made the situation particularly difficult to resolve. Despite the country's painful history, Syria has immense potential for rebuilding and renewal. The country was historically known for its rich culture, welcoming people, incredible food, and archaeological treasures. The current focus on restoring basic services and apparent willingness of different factions to cooperate suggests that with proper support and governance, Syria could begin healing and rebuilding its vibrant society.
