"Die Hard"-Abklatsche gibt es in jeder Budgetklasse und in jedem denkbaren Szenario: Nach "Stirb Langsam"-Variationen in einem Kriegsschiff, einem Passagierflugzeug, Eishockeystadion, Chemiefabrik, Nuklearwaffenbunker und vielen anderen Schauplätzen mehr war es nur eine Frage der Zeit für einen "Stirb Langsam"-Verschnitt in einer Schule. "Boy Soldiers" spann diese Idee zu Beginn der 90er weiter, doch erst B-Movie-Veteran Jim Wynorski setzte das Konzept 1996 mit "Demolition High" konsequent um, mit dem ehemaligen Teenie-Star Corey Haim in der Hauptrolle. Dankenswerterweise wurde uns ein Jahr später auch noch eine Fortsetzung im akademischen Umfeld beschert, so dass wir die Vorlage für das klassische Nachtprogramm-Double Feature geradezu auf dem Tablett serviert bekamen. A high school under siege by domestic terrorists with possession of a nuclear warhead? That's the plot of Demolition High. Think Die Hard but with teens.
