Being an 80s kid means much more for Chris Lott than just being a geriatric millennial. Chris embraced car and truck culture early and developed a love for what some credit as the greatest Ford truck years, 1980 - 1986, the bullnose era. Chris and his father spend copious amounts of time together hunting, restoring and curating an epic collection of Ford trucks and Fox Body Mustangs, with some Dodge Ram Chargers, Jeep SJs and IH Scouts thrown in for good measure. Each truck is rarer than the next with an amazing story of how it ended up in the collection. On this episode, Chris and Chris discuss their shared passion for 80s classic 4x4s, the stories behind a few of the rare trucks in Chris' collection and his adventure hunting and saving two rare IH Scouts from a junkyard with their common friend and IH Collector, Eric Tessmer (@bareknuckleboneyard).Follow the podcast on Instagram and Facebook @classic4x4_trucks, check out our website at classic4x4.com and reach out if we can help you sell your classic, custom and modified truck or 4x4. When Eric Tessmer isn't on the road touring with his band, he is planning epic trips to buy and tinkering on early International Harvester light and medium duty trucks. As a Wisconsin native, growing up in the International Harvester homeland, Tessmer developed his love affair with music and classic trucks through a kind of familial osmosis. Both his grandmother and father played guitar and his father and uncle always drove International Harvesters and Dodge Power Wagons. Tessmer moved to Texas straight out of high school and he quickly garnered a formidable reputation there for his fierce fretwork, explosive live performances and his collection of 1937 to 1961 International Harvester 4x4s. In addition to his career as a successful musician, Eric chronicles his epic adventures, on Instagram @bareknucklebinder, saving early IHs from destruction after decades of neglect, getting them running and road tripping them thousands of miles back to Texas. On this episode, Eric and Chris discuss his early years growing up on a farm in Wisconsin to becoming a legendary Austin, Texas based musician. They also discuss his early IH collection and his last two wild trips from California to Texas in rescued rare early IHs that had been sitting since the late 90s. Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Nané over Zoom video! Nané is a high-energy six-piece outfit from Austin, TX who caught the attention of Brittany Howard in June 2020 with their “Blue Velvet” music video. Howard selected them as one of her five picks for this year’s NPR Tiny Desk Contest, commenting on the groove while giving major props to lead singer Daniel Sahad who she applauded for his “no holds barred” performance.Sahad hails from the Dominican Republic. His grandparents are respectively Black, White, Latino and Arab (Lebanese). An offspring of globalism, Daniel comes from a lineage of courageous individuals who broke barriers to pursue their dreams. Called Nané as a term of endearment by his family in the Dominican Republic, Sahad determined the band’s name with a communal approach in mind – when you call him Nané, you’re family too.Nané (the band) came together in 2016 at The University of Texas at Austin where Daniel and guitarist, Ian Green, would drink and play cover songs for their friends. The pair quickly realized their potential to write original music together. The boys added bass player Scott McIntyre to the lineup and began writing their debut album while performing with Dayglow drummer, Brady Knippa, and Black Pumas keyboardist, JaRon Marshall. Nané rose quickly on the Austin music scene, playing a series of sold-out shows in front of the shimmering curtains of Stay Gold. In their first year as a band, Nané has headlined for crowds of over 1,000 people, as well as opened shows for Black Pumas, Bob Schneider, Eric Tessmer and Sir Woman. They also spent time in the studio recording their debut record with Grammy-award winning drummer, John Speice IV, on production and Adrian Quesada of the Black Pumas engineering and mixing. Their debut album was released on November 13, 2020!We want to hear from you! Few people epitomize the Austin music scene like Eric. In a city of famous guitar players, he has made a name for himself as a heavyweight, and he has a unique perspective into the truest identity of a city with worldwide appeal. I'm so glad we were able to cover so much ground, and now please enjoy my talk with Eric Tessmer.

Named Eric James, by his guitar playing father, in honor of two greats; Eric for Clapton and James for Jimi James Hendrix or born James Marshall Hendrix! Eric moved to Austin when he turned 19, almost 20 years ago. And he plays a vintage 1959 Fender Strat that shows it's age. I first saw him play a SXSW kick off party and then more regularly each year at the Arlyn Studios SXSW Homecoming Party. He recently opened for Slash at Stubb's, when Slash came through town with Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators. Back in June, he played a Waterloo in-store appearance for his new album "Good So Bad". Here is that title cut off of the new album: Good So Bad... I've seen him do some blistering numbers of Jimi Hendrix songs, here is one he did live, "Little Wing" a la the style of Stevie Ray Vaughan. That was "See You Tonight". And if you want to see him tonight, he will be playing at the Nutty Brown Amphitheater near my house in Cedar Valley, along with Monte Montgomery. So get out there and support live local music. In this special Wednesday broadcast of Dudes n Beer host Christopher Jordan is joined in studio by Steven Bishop, Julie Connally and special guest the amazing Eric Tessmer. Born and raised outside of the small town of Richland Center, Wisconsin, Tessmer began playing at a young age, inspired by his father and grandmother. In 2000, he moved to Austin at the age of 19 to play gigs with numerous musicians and bands, earning local credibility as he honed his craft of riffing with speed, power and control. He later formed his own power trio, the Eric Tessmer Band, in 2003. Through a battered '59 Fender Stratocaster producing vintage-correct tones, Eric kickstarts the engine left idling by guitar players of the past. Join us as we explore what it takes to make it from the Austin music scene, to success on the national stage and beyond. How did Eric get his start in the music industry and how has he crafted such a unique sound that has been heard the World over? What inspires this talented artist to write his music and what can we expect next from this amazing talent from the Austin scene?
