I'm the one who bolted it together and got it working at Kramer,” Smith revealed, recalling his hands-on role in shaping one of rock's most iconic guitars. Although a signature PRS model for Eddie never materialized, Smith did craft a custom guitar for him years later. The collaboration nearly happened—an “almost” that has since become part of guitar legend. “I did make one for him… He was a sweetheart. He was so nice to me,” Smith said. “It just wasn't meant to be.” We dive into a recent Guitar Interactive Magazine interview where Paul Reed Smith claims he built the Kramer 5150 pickup and the guitar itself!

"Midnight At The Valencia" Before all this rock and roll stuff, Tom Hollister was a highly touted Rugby player from Wales. I'll let him tell you how his career as an athlete was derailed as a young man in Canada, but let me just say this: when he got back to Wales, he channeled all that athletic energy into another sport entirely: the making of music. In 2010, of all the emerging buzzbands, Cardinal Black was one of the buzziest. Guns N' Roses' longtime manager Alan Niven was overseeing the band's activity and let's just say this: it was active. They were invited by Steve Winwood to record at his studio, they played a killer set at Sonisphere and they flew to the U.S. to record an album. But things didn't go as planned and the band hit pause on a career that was about to kick into overdrive. I'll let Tom tell you about that dark time as well, but, and I don't think this is a spoiler, the dark times are over and Cardinal Black 2.0 are in fighting shape and adding brilliant achievements to their resume' with each passing day. They've hit #1 on the iTunes Rock Singles Chart, they've played sold-out headline shows in all over the world, supported Myles Kennedy, The Struts and Peter Frampton thanks to a personal invitation from the man himself, and played Joe Bonamassa's Keeping The Blues Alive rock cruise. The band's new long player Midnight At The Valencia is a smooth blend of simmering soul, bluesy ballads and shimmering, rootsy genius. Hollister's stirring vocals are drenched with heart and with the brilliant guitar playing of Chris Buck weaving throughout the band's compositions, Midnight At The Valencia is one of those records that evades the timeline. When you put it on it could be 1971 or 1993 or now. Or all of it. I love this record and I love this band and Tom is a humble, thoughtful and kind soul. www.thecardinalblack.com (http://www.thecardinalblack.com) www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com (http://www.stereoembersmagazine.com) www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers The Podcast BLUESKY + IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com (mailto:editor@stereoembersmagazine.com)

Myles Kennedy Interview | The Brett Allan Show | The Art of Letting Go Alterbridge and Slash As a prolific songwriter, powerhouse vocalist, and skilled guitar player, Myles Kennedy tunes into the rhythm of his surroundings and goes with the flow. Fronting Alter Bridge, his soaring vocals, open-hearted lyrics, and airtight riffs have fueled the group's global impact as a critically acclaimed, arena-filling force of nature over two decades-plus. On the microphone for Slash and The Conspirators, his towering range and magnetic stage presence has consistently stunned audiences since 2010. Becoming a celebrated collaborator, he's the rare presence just as comfortable on a track with Disturbed, Halestorm, and Sevendust as he is with Gov't Mule and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels. It's why he's generated over 1 billion cumulative streams, earned gold and platinum certifications worldwide, uplifted countless fans, and KERRANG! christened him “one of rock's finest vocalists.” It's also why he's carved out his own lane. With two solo efforts under his belt and sold-out headline tours in the rearview, a sense of keenly honed intuition guides his third full-length LP, The Art of Letting Go [Napalm Records]. “I've been going through a massive Bruce Lee kick, no pun intended,” he smiles. “His quote, ‘Be water, my friend', always stuck with me. On a grander scale, it represents the record. It's an exercise in removing prior restrictions and shattering the parameters I set up for myself as a solo artist. This is a rock record. In the past, I thought rock might be a little too close to the other projects. Instead, I just let go and embraced my essence as a singer, guitar player, and writer. This is who I am. This is my DNA. Instead of being apologetic and shying away from it, I'm letting go and being myself.” Connect with us on our website for more amazing conversations! www.brettallanshow.com Have you got some feedback? "Orgy of the Damned" by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators showcases the band's signature hard rock sound with an invigorating mix of classic rock influences. From the opening track, listeners are greeted with Slash's iconic guitar riffs that are both powerful and melodic, setting the tone for an album that balances heavy hitting instrumentals with captivating vocals. The album explores a variety of themes with the lyrical content ranging from introspection to wild escapades, echoing the band's dynamic energy. Myles Kennedy's vocal performance is particularly noteworthy, as he delivers a blend of raw emotion and soaring melodies that perfectly complement Slash's guitar work. The chemistry between the two continues to shine, further solidifying their partnership as one of rock's most exciting duos. Standout tracks include the title track "Orgy of the Damned," which features a catchy chorus and a driving rhythm that captures the essence of the band's rebellious spirit. Other highlights include "The River," which showcases a more contemplative side, blending haunting lyrics with a compelling melody. Production value is high, with crisp sound engineering that allows each instrument to shine, ensuring that Slash's guitar solos take center stage without overshadowing the other members. The album as a whole feels cohesive yet varied, allowing listeners to experience both the heavier and more melodic sides of the band. Overall, "Orgy of the Damned" is a strong addition to Slash's extensive discography, fulfilling the expectations of hard rock enthusiasts while appealing to new listeners. It feels both fresh and familiar, reinforcing Slash's status as one of the guitar legends of our time. Fans of rock music will likely find this album a thrilling ride from start to finish.
