Tread Perilously's werewolf-themed horror month continues with an episode of Once Upon a Time called "Red Handed." As Emma contends with the possibility that David caused Kathryn's disappearance, Ruby and Granny have a fight -- and Ruby quits the dinner. She's taken in by Mary Margaret and Emma, with the latter giving her a job at the sheriff's office. Will her superb tracking skills help them find David, who's gone missing the forest, and Kathryn? Meanwhile, in Fairytale Land, Snow encounters Red, who yearns to leave her village despite constant wolf attacks and her grandmother's insistence she remain at home. Will Snow learn the truth before another hunting party engages with the wolf? Justin admits this is his favorite episode of Once -- although he and Erik dissect why the show stopped working the way it did in its second season. Erik is surprised to see the script is credited to Jane Espenson. Justin tries to place Once in the context of television at the time of its debut. Comic books end up being modern fairy tales in a very real way.  In The Company of Wolves references are spotted. Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Meghan Ory all prove to be MVPs. The pair recommit to their anti-Wolverine rhetoric and Justin fails to recall Peter and the Wolf with any great detail.

“For some time now, Christianity has been on the decline. According to a September 2022 Pew study, people identifying as Christian have decreased from 90% of the U.S. population in 1972 to 64% in 2020. But it's not just researchers who are talking about this. As of Dec. 6, 2020, the hashtag “#exchristian” had 696.7 million cumulative views on TikTok and was assigned to more than 68,600 posts on Instagram. When looking specifically at evangelicalism, the numbers nearly double. The hashtag “#exvangelical” was viewed 1.1 billion times on TikTok and was assigned to 105,000 posts on Instagram. The behavior of Christians Beyond the issue of LGBTQ inclusion, Stanley did get one thing right: Many people object to the behavior of Christians, and that's not something new. When writing a letter to C.S. Lewis about potentially converting to Christianity, author Sheldon Vanauken wrestled with this exact thing in his book A Severe Mercy: The best argument for Christianity is Christians: their joy, their certainty, their completeness. But the strongest argument against Christianity is also Christians — when they are somber and joyless, when they are self-righteous and smug in complacent consecration, when they are narrow and repressive, then Christianity dies a thousand deaths. Apparently, some things never change — the behavior of Christians is a massive stumbling block for people coming to the religion and walking away. However, instead of dying a thousand deaths, Christianity is dying millions.” I don't believe in automatic forgiveness when it comes to heavy traumas. Forgiveness should be optional, not a requirement. Some people live healthy lives with forgiveness and some people live healthy lives without forgiveness. Religion doesn't encourage healthy channeling of emotions. Religion says there are negative emotions (which is a myth.) Religion encourages La-La Land, Fairytale Land, toxic positivity, spiritualizing, spiritual bypassing, gaslighting, sex-obsession, Fantasy Land, peaches and cream, sugar and rainbows, sugar and spice and everything nice, Kumbuya, can we get along and sing a song (let's be friends), Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy, doing the bare minimum, laziness, cruelty, stupidity, and every negative character trait. A lot of churches are fearful of losing the 501 (c) status so they avoid justice issues. Some churches are glad that The IRS allows them to endorse politicians and political parties to their congregations even though they know that they are not supposed to do according to the IRS. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

It may be one of Connecticut's best-kept secrets. There's a land area in rural eastern CT (and south-central MA) that's half the size of Grand Canyon National Park, still 85% undeveloped and where you can't hear anything resembling civilization. It features huge expanses of open space hiking, clean rivers, historic villages and bald eagle nests. This paradise land shows up on nighttime East Coast satellite photos as the only dark spot between D.C. and Boston. It's the National Heritage Corridor called The Last Green Valley (TLGV), that features huge expanses of open space hiking, clean water, historic villages and bald eagle nests. The history of collaboration and partnership between 35 communities, land trusts, preservationists and other organizations is told by TLGV's Assistant Director Fran Kefalas and Chief Ranger Bill Reid.

This story reminds me of a particular serial killer from our land. He was truly horrific and terrorized an entire state for years. He was the type of person who took his time and learned everything he could about his victims before he made his final move. He would go into their homes beforehand and take trinkets as prizes for his unspeakable acts.  Resources for this weeks episode: The Wolf and Seven Young Kids a Brothers Grimm Fairytale https://americanliterature.com/author/the-brothers-grimm/fairy-tale/the-wolf-and-the-seven-little-kids https://www.biography.com/news/michelle-mcnamara-golden-state-killer Music from Epidemic Music: Salvation Is Coming - Eoin Mantell Unease - Craft Case Nemesis - Alec Slayne Plague - ATISOUND Win Win - 91 Nova Fractions - Gabriel Parker

Join me this week as we dig deeper into the Big Bad Wolf and why I believe he is a serial killer. In the crime safety security.com site it says: “Serial killers look perfectly normal and may be above average in intelligence. You may very well have met one and found him charming or, if nothing else, forgettable. You may know a killer and never realize it – because he doesn't seem the least bit like a monster. They blend in with the rest of us without arousing the slightest suspicion.” If you have any information about the Big Bad Wolf please leave us a tip at (661) 544-8226. Some one knows something. I found an article called 5 Myths About Serial Killers and Why Do They Persist and it reads I quote: “The majority of serial killers are not reclusive social misfits who live alone, despite pervasive depictions of them as such in the news and entertainment media. Real-life serial killers are not the isolated monsters of fiction and, frequently, they do not appear to be strange or stand out from the public in any meaningful way.” Upon reading this I began to wonder. Did Zeke, the Big Bad Wolf truly travel alone as I first stated? Or was he truly a lone wolf? Find out by listening to this weeks episode. This season I”m trying something different. You might not know this but I am a murderino, you know a true crime junkie. That’s right my friends on my free time I listen to murder. So much so that when I was first bouncing around ideas to create a podcast I thought I would be doing a true crime podcast and who knows maybe one day I will. So this season I decided to take a stab at it but in my own way. This podcast is me reading you great stories which I love and I will continue to do so  here. Even during this investigation season. So keeping that in mind we are going to delve into the realm of Fairy Tale Land and get to know one of the meanest, sneakiest, baddest mother wolves around the infamous Big Bad Wolf. We are going to hear stories about his beginnings. Where he grew up, who were his influences, did he have friends, how did he become who he is known as today? The Big Bad Wolf is not a one trick pony like, he is at the narcissist level of  Ted Bundy. He has been “Gone in the dark like the Golden State Killer”. The Big Bad Wolf is a serial killer and I'm calling him out. Starting February 26th, join me every Friday for a few weeks as we explore the life of the Big Bad Wolf. Let’s go to FairyTale Land and do some investigating. Make sure you are subscribed on your pod player of choice and please stop by our Instagram page and say hieeeeee. I’ll be in your ears soon. From time to time on The Apple Seed we feature stories with which you're well familiar. However, the tellers we feature usually put their own unique spin on these classics. And today on the show you'll hear several of those stories from Rosie Cutrer, Donna Washington, and the Storycrafters. You'll also some musings from the great storyteller and musician, Andy Offutt Irwin, that will make you chuckle as well as make you think about some of the adventures you've had over the course of your life. We always hope the stories we share on the program spark memories for you that you can share with the people that you love.  On today's episode, enjoy the following:"Rumpelstiltskin" by Rosie Cutrer from Mr. Bun and Other Stories (11:40)You've heard his story, you know his name, but the antogonist of this well-known story from Rosie Cutrer wishes you didn't. Rosie Cutrer has been known to pull out a banjo from time to time and pair her delightful stories with energetic music. Here's just one of many such stories.  "Three Princes Riding" by Donna Washington from Angel's Laughter (14:50)Like so many great stories passed on over the years, stories can change dramatically with each telling. The wonderful teller, Donna Washington, shares here her version of a story called "Three Princes Riding", written by Nancy Schimmel. And the story begins with a unique problem: Nothing is happening in Fairytale Land. However, you'll discover as the story goes on that there's plenty happening.  "Secret Santa" by Andy Offutt-Irwin from Perpetual Calendar (11:41)This next story is a Cub Scout story called "Secret Santa". But it's not so much a Christmas story as it is a delightful tale that will bring back Cub Scout memories for you, if you have them. Here's Andy Offutt Irwin performing live at the International Storytelling Cetner in Jonesborough, TN.  "The Cinderella Rap" by The Storycrafters from Tales From Timp 2012 (6:34)Here's a story from the husband and wife storytelling duo, Barry Marshall and Jeri Burns, AKA "The Storycrafters". Their musical, rhythmic tellings of some of the classic tales with which you're familiar put a new spin on some of those tales and you get to hear them as if for the first time. This is a piece called "The Cinderella Rap" performed live at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival.  "The Light Went Away" by Andy Offutt-Irwin from Andy's Wild Amphibian Show (3:16)Earlier you heard a Cub Scout memory from Andy Offutt Irwin. And now to close things off, Andy's back with a lullaby called "The Light Went Away".

Yet that’s not quite the end, the savior’s vision still stands. It’s Emma v. Gideon for the sake of the lands. Will Emma fight this time? The answer is nope, because she’s determined the true power is hope. As good defeats evil the realms reappear and everyone gets a happy BEGINNING...is that clear? But wait?!? Who’s that girl?
