Reflection #1: Animal Rescue People are talented! Here are the guests I mention. Dr Sarah Boston http://thisispawprint.com/3 Pen Farthing http://thisispawprint.com/7 Greg Mahle http://thisispawprint.com/9 Aya Eintracht http://thisispawprint.com/10 2. If we inspire you to start your own podcast, go for it! If you are interested in starting your own podcast, let's talk. We answer questions on podcasting on a regular basis. You can podcast on anything! If you feel like there is something inside you that needs to be shared with the world, a podcast could be the right platform for you 3. Anything worthwhile requires commitment and dedication This goes without saying, not much of a revelation here. Whether it is animal rescue or anything else, you need to commit, dedicate, and sacrifice to make something great happen. Hopefully you have found something you believe in, or you feel is worth you time, or you might have some proficiency in. It doesn't simply happen, be prepared to work hard for it. No one said it would be easy. But as Aya Eintracht would say, “It is worth it.” We're shooting for at least 45 more episodes the rest of the year, we hope you join us on the journey!! Back when this podcast was nothing more than a daydream I came across an article about a man who had rescued thousands of dogs. By taking a nearly week-long trip that spans 4,200 miles, from Ohio, down into Texas, and then back up towards the northeastern states, this guy has racked up well over one million miles of rescue transportation. He makes the trip every other week, picking up dogs along dozens of stops in the deep south, many who were almost certainly facing death, and delivering them to the arms of eager forever families along the route back home. This is the story of Greg Mahle and how he first hit the pavement with Rescue Road Trips... listen in to get the whole story. To access links to resources and see some photos submitted by our storyteller, please visit myrescuerocks.net/21. Please help us spread our rescue stories by sharing this show with a friend, PAWlease, I’d really appreciate it! You can also help out by subscribing, and leaving a rating and review on either iTunes or Stitcher. Thanks so much for your support!

We talk to author Peter Zheutlin about his discovery of the complex world of animal rescue through the adoption of his dog Albie. He describes the process of meeting, following, and ultimately writing a book about Greg Mahle and other animal rescue heroes, as well as the ups and downs of a writer's life. Book Peter Zheutlin's New York Times and Amazon best-seller, Rescue Road: One Man, Thirty Thousand Dogs, and a Million Miles on the Last Hope Highway, records the journey of Greg Mahle, who drives a truck 26 times a year to save thousands of dogs. Greg Mahle of Rescue Road Trips shares his story of dedication to his family, including his wife Adella, and to thousands of dogs over the years. Approximately twenty-six times a year, or every other week, Greg and one hired driver take a seven-day journey from Ohio to Southern states like Texas and Louisiana to fill up a tractor trailer with up to seventy dogs. They then head to Northeastern states like Pennsylvania and Connecticut to deliver each dog to their respective permanent or "forever" homes. That's a 4,200 mile round-trip, every two weeks!
