There's nothing like a Word of Mouth recommendation! But now here's Lily. Hello there, Lily, and welcome to the show. It's great to have you with us. Lily Chu: Hi. Thanks for having me. Introducing Romcom author Lily Chu Lily Chu - 'hidden Jenny Wheeler: Look, the comeback, which is the book we're particularly talking about today, is your second romcom and it follows closely on the first, which was called the Stand-in, and that was really a tremendous success for a debut novel. Did you suffer that nerve thing of having a major success for your first book and feeling inadequate about getting grips with the second? How did that go for you? Lily Chu: I generally feel inadequate, so that wouldn't be a new feeling. Thank you for calling it success. I'm so happy people are enjoying The Stand-In. I hope they enjoy The Comeback just as much. But you know, it's interesting you should say that because I was actually writing a lot of The Comeback as I was editing The Stand-In, so it hadn't really hit because the way publishing's a weird world in the way that it does its timing.
A long-time friend of the SPA Girls Nalini Singh is here to talk about world-building, and if anyone knows how to do this–it's Nalini! Her contemporary romances include the Rock Kiss and Hard Play series, the latter of which revolves around a rugby-loving family in Auckland. 33 of Nalini's solo titles have hit the New York Times Bestseller list (most recently Archangel's Light, in November 2021). Her books have also hit the USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and Wall Street Journal Bestseller lists. She's received the Australian Romance Readers Award several times and won two Sir Julius Vogel awards. The first book in the Psy-Changeling series, Slave to Sensation, was named as one of the New York Public Library's 125 books from the last 125 years that inspire a lifelong love of reading. Born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand, Nalini was first published in 2003. Whelp this podcast was quite a ride. Heidi finished the entire review, then realized that this series follows the same hero and heroine (Elena and Raphael) over multiple books! So she added some additional commentary into the podcast for you (and it answered some of her questions too!)This series features a Guild Hunter - Elena, who hunts vampires, and Raphael an Archangel when he hires her for a job. Heidi discusses her initial impressions of this different and immersive world of Singh's, her thoughts on the romance, and what she thinks has to happen to have a satisfactory happy ever after.Support the show (https://paypal.me/romancebookreviewpod)

What a conversation with Nalini Singh! We have been so fortunate by the authors who have said yes to our new podcast and this was one of our craziest ones yet!In season 1 of the podcast, we somehow managed to review two books of Nalini's that weren't in her two most popular series! Rock Hard and Cherish Hard were both excellent contemporary romances (even though that is definitely not our main genre). We were so excited to talk to Nalini because Shani is a massive Psy Changelings & Guild Hunter Fan and Bridget crushed through the whole Guild Hunter series is like 2 weeks!
