Happy Friday, friends! Welcome back to another episode and being here with me. You're in for a special one today! I have the honor to engage in a connected, uplifting conversation with Jas who is an expat currently living and working in Germany. Hearty and wholesome are ways I find myself using to describe this conversation, as we jived about this shared yet unique experience of uprooting our lives and moving abroad to countries very different from the one we were brought up in, as we shared stories of interesting occurrences and also exchange tips and advice on some steps we can take to better integrate and find joy in our new lives in new cities. April Floyd is a dream maker - of her own and the dreams of other. April began her years, the self - made, St. Louis born - and - bred writer, producer, and director began a steady path in production after springing as a blogger, and production associate promoting her hometown St. Louis at OnStL.com in 2013. With the love and support of her family and organizations like St. Louis Arc, School Resources, and Shriner's Hospital, Floyd was able to help her children thrive, teaching them to "continue to fight , no matter how hard things seem; because there is nothing left if you give up."That fight for her beautiful children lit a fire in Fliyd's belly and a passion that would turn into a mission - and a movement. Floyd credits the love and dedication of her husband. of nine years, Eddie Floyd, Jr., with encouraging her to rekindle her early dream to write; all the while, he worked along with her to build on their goals of books and film. Fueled by April Floyd's first - hand experience of dismissive or indifferent attitudes, lack of resources, cruelty, and the abused children born with physical and mental challenges (17% of American population) far - too - often suffer, preventing them from living successful lives, she created the character, Unique. In A Unique World , A Unique Life and then, I am Unique film trailer, Floyd takes readers through the heart - wrenching realities of a little girl born with the entire deck stacked against her: a drug - addicted, prostitute mother, physical and mental challenges, poverty, dysfunction, cruelty, and tragedy. Throughout the emotional roller coaster ride, Floyd skillfully infuses goodness, possibilities, faith, the power of love, and ultimate triumph that is every human being's birthright. Goals for featured films & for "I Am Unique" to become a Netflix Original has already been set in motion. Together, using their own resources, April and Eddie FloydJr., built a company, FEG - Floyd Entertainment Group, LLC, which now includes their company, Floyd Books Publishing, LLC to produce their pitch trailers of "I AM UIQUE." April Floyd and her husband are Executive Directors of their foundation, UPSL (Unique People Special Lives) initiated from April's aspirations all things Unique. The collaborators have produce plays and mentored more than 250 proper in all things film production - related. Spearheaded by April Floyd and her husband, Eddie Floyd, Jr., the partners produced trailers with 1 minute, 3 minutes, and 45 - minutes for pitching and short of I Am Unique, to be shown in St. Louis and at film festivals across the country in 2020. Hundreds of St. Louis locals auditioned for roles in the movie, both in front of and behind the camera. April taught, loved, and nurtured more than 200 people from our area during the process of producing this short and trailer.
