Deborah shares her deeply personal journey through grief, beginning with the death of her mother in 2013 and then her sister in 2016. Both losses were profound and compounded by the pressure to “stay strong” for her children, which led Deborah to suppress her own emotions and carry the weight of unprocessed grief. Her turning point came after a colleague gently encouraged her to seek support, helping her realize that staying busy wasn't healing. That moment prompted her to explore resources, though she struggled to find a grief tool that actually helped—until she encountered the Grief Recovery Method. Deborah later became a certified specialist and began teaching the Helping Children with Loss course to educators, health professionals, clergy, and others who work with children. Through her experiences, Deborah recognized that unresolved grief in children is often overlooked—especially when it comes to losses like divorce, terminal illness in the family, or even the death of a pet. In response, she developed the Lessons in Loss journal series to give kids a safe outlet to process emotions. These include guides for specific events such as losing a parent, suicide, imprisonment of a loved one, and more. Each journal is paired with an adult support guide to equip parents, teachers, and caregivers with practical tools to engage with grieving children. The episode emphasizes the urgent need for adults to do their own grief work so they can model healthy emotional processing for children. As Cole notes, “We can't help kids grieve well if we haven't done it ourselves.” Both he and Deborah challenge leaders and parents to be courageous in facing their own pain—because dysregulated adults can't support dysregulated children. Deborah ends by encouraging listeners to reflect on what might be holding them back from healing and to take action. Welcome to Paranormal Spectrum, where we illuminate the enigmatic corners of the supernatural world. I'm your host, Barnaby Jones, and today we have a very special guest joining us:Five-time author Ron Yacovetti is living in his home state of New Jersey. However, he began investigating the paranormal during his 14 years as a resident of Los Angeles, California. This geographic diversity gave him the opportunity to investigate some of the most notable haunts on both coasts.He has a unique background as a stand-up comedian (aka satirist), a writer, and Paranormal Investigator. Ron's background with satire, along with this empirical experience, has shaped his philosophical view of the absurd and paranormal. He applies a keen sense of awareness when hypocrisy and a lack of continuity of thought which can oftentimes pervade the paranormal landscape. He is truly the cynic's, cynic.And while Ron enjoys all aspects of investigating the unknown, his affinity and area ofSpecificity in the afterlife research was almost instantly discovered in the area known as ITC: Instrumental Trans-Communication. Despite ITC having been an acronym synonymous with the Spirit Boxes or Ghost Boxes for years, in 2019 Ron resurrected the European methodology of ITC known as DRV: DIRECT RADIO VOICE. Prior to this taking place, no one in ITC was doing anything outside of the sweeping ghost box modality. Period. So, through the removal of any radio this methodology has evolved into “TDSe: The Digital Séance Experience” - producing anomalous vocals out of pure white noise.Over years of research into audio phenomena, Ron believes we need focus on more than the anomalous voices themselves, and instead, spend more time on the study of consciousness, as well as Philosophy. The anomalous voices alone are not enough to advance us in the battle for support regarding vocal high strangeness. ITC practitioners have been serving up fantastic voice phenomena recordings for decades and yet we are still arguing for the validity of these voices in 2025! Gone are the days where we can afford to say that these voices are beyond what science can address, whilst we immediately lean on science to validate them. Ron sees the path forward as one which alters how we present our findings as well as how they will be received by others.Building upon a foundation or metaphysics of Analytic Idealism, the concept of reality or nature as being fundamentally mental, we then allow for what we experience and deem supernatural to be quite natural without our continuing conflicts with science.
