Daily News Brief by TRT World

US and Israel discuss Gaza, hostages at White House Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced fresh hostage release negotiations for besieged Gaza in a White House meeting with US President Donald Trump. Trump, on the other hand, reiterated his controversial idea of ethnic cleansing and US takeover of Palestinian territory during the same meeting. While acknowledging ongoing efforts, Trump called securing all hostages ""a long process"" and suggested the Gaza war's end wasn't far off. He also predicted Israel's war would end “not in the too-distant future.” Separately, hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in New York City halted Grand Central Terminal, demanding an end to the ""genocide"" and US support for Israel. Trump threatens 50 percent tariff hike on Chinese imports President Trump has threatened a staggering 50 percent hike in tariffs on Chinese imports unless Beijing backs off its retaliatory plans, raising total US duties to a sky-high 104 percent. The move builds on previous levies tied to fentanyl trafficking and alleged trade abuses. Trump declared talks with China are off the table while negotiations with other nations will begin immediately. The US President's latest move is seen as throwing gasoline on the fire. Beijing is set to retaliate with matching tariffs and export controls on rare earths. Global markets have plunged since Trump announced his tariff policy. Report accuses 10 Brits of war crimes in Gaza A legal bombshell drops in London. About 240-page war crimes dossier has been submitted to London's Metropolitan Police, accusing 10 British nationals of involvement in atrocities in Gaza. Spearheaded by famed barrister Michael Mansfield KC, the report cites crimes against humanity and demands urgent prosecutions. Filed by UK and Palestinian legal groups, the report arrives amid Israel's intense bombardment and violence in Gaza. Pro-Israel groups, including UK Lawyers for Israel, dismiss it as a “publicity stunt,” while supporters call it a bold bid for global justice. US-Iran diplomatic discussions set to take place in Oman Diplomatic channels have opened as Iran announces indirect high-level talks with the US in Oman this Saturday. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the meeting, calling it a "test" for America. While US President Donald Trump suggested direct negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme, Araghchi dismissed the notion, stating that the ball is in America's court. Trump, continuing his threats of military action, emphasised that the talks are in Iran's best interests but warned of ""great danger"" if an agreement fails. Both sides are now preparing for pivotal discussions. Three dire wolf pups bring back an ancient predator to the wild In an almost secluded 8-kilometre-square preserve, three dire wolf pups — Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi — roam once more, marking the revival of an ancient predator. After 13,000 years, the biotech firm Colossal Biosciences has successfully resurrected these Ice Age creatures, blending science with fantasy. This is the first successful de-extinction. Using ancient DNA, the pups serve as a powerful symbol of de-extinction and conservation. With Indigenous collaboration, the project could also help in saving other endangered species, like the red wolf.

Project 2025: The Ominous Specter

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 21, 2025 6:59

As I delved into the intricacies of Project 2025, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer scope and ambition of this initiative. Spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank with deep ties to the Trump administration, Project 2025 is more than just a policy guide; it's a comprehensive blueprint for a radical restructuring of the federal government. At its core, Project 2025 is a 900-page manual titled "Mandate For Leadership," authored by former Trump administration officials and other conservative stalwarts. This document outlines a vision for the next Republican president to implement sweeping changes across nearly every aspect of American life. From the Department of Energy to the Environmental Protection Agency, and from the Department of Justice to the Department of Education, no federal agency is left untouched. One of the most striking aspects of Project 2025 is its focus on prioritizing fundamental research over practical applications. For instance, the Department of Energy would be reoriented to focus on basic research that the private sector wouldn't otherwise undertake, with many current programs aimed at energy technology development and climate change being eliminated. As the report suggests, many of these programs "act as subsidies to the private sector for government-favored resources"[2].The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is another target for significant overhaul. Project 2025 proposes that the EPA should not use "unrealistic" projections of climate change impacts, such as the RCP 8.5 emissions scenario, and that any science activity must have clear congressional authorization. This move is part of a broader effort to subject EPA research to closer oversight by political appointees, rather than scientists[2].The project's approach to science policy is not just about reorienting research priorities but also about tightening research security. It proposes restricting academic and technology exchanges with countries labeled as adversaries, primarily China. This measure is designed to prevent what the authors see as the misuse of American research for foreign gain[2].Beyond science policy, Project 2025 envisions a federal government where executive power is centralized and expanded. The plan advocates for the president to have direct control over the entire executive branch, eliminating the independence of agencies like the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Trade Commission. This is based on a controversial interpretation of the unitary executive theory, which aims to centralize greater control in the White House. As Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation, put it, "all federal employees should answer to the president"[3].The Department of Justice is particularly targeted for reform. Project 2025 views the DOJ as a "bloated bureaucracy" infatuated with a "radical liberal agenda" and suggests it must be thoroughly reformed and closely overseen by the White House. The plan includes combating what it terms "affirmative discrimination" or "anti-white racism," and prosecuting state and local governments, institutions of higher education, and private employers with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs[3].Other federal agencies are not spared either. The Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Education are proposed to be dismantled or abolished. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) would see its independence reduced, and its stem cell research defunded. The project also recommends merging the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Census Bureau, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics into a single organization aligned with conservative principles[3].Project 2025's policy proposals extend into the realm of social issues as well. It advocates for criminalizing pornography, removing legal protections against anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, and ending DEI programs. The plan also includes enacting laws supported by the Christian right, such as criminalizing the sending and receiving of abortion and birth control medications, and eliminating coverage of emergency contraception[3].The economic landscape would also undergo significant changes. Project 2025 proposes reducing taxes on corporations and capital gains, instituting a flat income tax on individuals, and cutting Medicare and Medicaid. It recommends abolishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and shrinking the role of the National Labor Relations Board, which protects employees' ability to organize and fight unfair labor practices[3].In the area of law enforcement, Project 2025 suggests authorizing the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service to enforce the law outside of the White House and its immediate surroundings, reflecting a broader concern about crime in the District of Columbia. The plan also promotes capital punishment for what it considers particularly heinous crimes, such as pedophilia[3].As I navigated through the dense policy recommendations, it became clear that Project 2025 is not just a set of ideas but a coherent vision for a conservative future. The project's architects, many of whom have direct ties to Trump's administration, see this as an opportunity to "institutionalize Trumpism," as Kevin Roberts has described it[1].Despite Trump's attempts to distance himself from the project, the connections are undeniable. A recent report found at least 140 people who worked on Project 2025 had previously worked in Trump's administration. The Heritage Foundation's involvement and the alignment of the project's goals with Trump's campaign promises further solidify these ties[1][4].The implications of Project 2025 are far-reaching and profound. If implemented, these policies could roll back civil rights protections, expose vulnerable populations to increased discrimination, and fundamentally alter the balance of power within the federal government. As one expert noted, the inconsistencies in the plan may be designed to appeal to certain industries or donors, highlighting the complex web of interests at play[3].As the 2024 election has come to a close and Trump has secured a second term, the stage is set for many of these proposals to become reality. With nearly two-thirds of Trump's executive actions in his second term already mirroring or partially mirroring proposals from Project 2025, it is clear that this initiative is more than just a blueprint—it is a roadmap for the future of American governance[3].Looking ahead, the next few months will be crucial as the new administration begins to implement these policies. The public's response, congressional pushback, and potential legal challenges will all play significant roles in shaping the final outcome. As Project 2025 continues to unfold, one thing is certain: the future of American governance hangs in the balance, and the decisions made now will have lasting impacts for generations to come.

As I delved into the intricacies of Project 2025, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease about the profound implications this initiative could have on the fabric of American governance. Spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank with deep ties to the Trump administration, Project 2025 is more than just a policy guide; it's a comprehensive blueprint for a radical restructuring of the federal government. At its core, Project 2025 is a four-pillared initiative: a detailed policy guide, a database of potential personnel for the next administration, a training program for these candidates, and a playbook for actions to be taken within the first 180 days in office. Led by former Trump administration officials Paul Dans and Spencer Chretien, this project has drawn significant attention for its sweeping proposals that align closely with Trump's past policies and current campaign promises[4].One of the most striking aspects of Project 2025 is its ambition to consolidate executive power. The project advocates for placing the entire executive branch under direct presidential control, eliminating the independence of agencies like the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This vision is rooted in the unitary executive theory, which aims to centralize greater control over the government in the White House. As Kevin Roberts, the Heritage Foundation President, put it, "all federal employees should answer to the president"[2].The proposed changes to federal agencies are far-reaching. Project 2025 suggests merging the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Census Bureau, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics into a single organization, aligning its mission with conservative principles. It recommends abolishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and shrinking the role of the National Labor Relations Board, which protects employees' ability to organize and fight unfair labor practices. The project also calls for the elimination of the Federal Trade Commission, a move that would significantly undermine antitrust enforcement[2].In the realm of education, Project 2025 envisions a significant reduction of the federal government's role. It proposes closing the Department of Education and giving states control over education funding and policy. The project advocates for public funds to be available as school vouchers, even for parents sending their children to private or religious schools, and suggests cutting funding for free school meals and ending the Head Start program. This shift is justified by the project's backers as a move to treat education as a private rather than a public good[2].The project's stance on environmental issues is equally contentious. It seeks to downsize the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), close the EPA's Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights, and reverse a 2009 EPA finding that carbon dioxide emissions are harmful to human health. This would prevent the federal government from regulating greenhouse gas emissions. The project also advocates for the expansion of fossil fuel use, including Arctic drilling, and opposes the transition to renewable energy by blocking the expansion of the national electrical grid[2].Project 2025's approach to law enforcement is marked by a critical view of the DOJ, which it describes as a "bloated bureaucracy" infatuated with a "radical liberal agenda." The project proposes reforming the DOJ to combat what it terms "affirmative discrimination" or "anti-white racism," and suggests that the Civil Rights Division should prosecute state and local governments, institutions of higher education, and private employers with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) or affirmative action programs. This stance is echoed by Gene Hamilton, a former Trump DOJ official, who argues that advancing the interests of certain segments of American society comes at the expense of others and violates federal law[2].The project's impact on social policies is also significant. It recommends instituting work requirements for people reliant on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and proposes legislation requiring higher pay for working on Sundays, based on the belief that "God ordained the Sabbath as a day of rest." Additionally, it suggests that OSHA should be more lenient on small businesses and that the overtime exception threshold should be kept low to avoid burdening businesses in rural areas[2].Critics of Project 2025 argue that it would destroy the system of checks and balances in the U.S. government, creating an "imperial presidency" with almost unlimited power to implement policies. The League of Conservation Voters has criticized the project as a giveaway to private industry, while Republican climate advocates have disagreed with its climate policy, highlighting the growing consensus among younger Republicans that human activity causes climate change[3][2].As I reflect on the scope and ambition of Project 2025, it becomes clear that this initiative is not just a set of policy proposals but a vision for a fundamentally different America. With its emphasis on centralizing executive power, dismantling federal agencies, and promoting conservative principles across various sectors, Project 2025 represents a seismic shift in how the federal government could operate.Looking ahead, the implementation of Project 2025's proposals will depend on the outcome of future elections and the political will of the next administration. As the 2024 elections approach, the debate around this project is likely to intensify. Whether Project 2025 will succeed in reshaping American governance remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: its impact, if realized, would be profound and far-reaching. As the American public navigates this complex landscape, it is crucial to engage in informed discussions about the future of democracy and the role of government in American life.

Welcome to Top of the Morning by Mint, your weekday newscast that brings you five major stories from the world of business. It's Thursday, January 23, 2025. This is Nelson John, let's get started. Geopolitics is reshaping global tech strategies, with the US's Stargate Project a prime example. Spearheaded by President Trump, this initiative involves a consortium including OpenAI, Oracle, SoftBank, and MGX committing $500 billion to develop AI data centres across the US. This move aims to bolster America's AI infrastructure, create 100,000 jobs, and enhance its competitive edge against China in AI technologies. China, despite trailing behind the U.S. in AI, continues its rapid advancement, highlighted by innovations such as DeepSeek's new open-source AI model. This model promises to deliver high-level AI functionalities at a fraction of the cost of current leading technologies, posing a direct challenge to America's dominance. India is also not far behind, and is aggressively expanding its AI infrastructure. New initiatives and investments, such as Microsoft's $3 billion expansion and major semiconductor projects, are set to significantly boost India's capabilities in AI and chip manufacturing, aiming to make it a pivotal player in the global tech landscape. So, will the Stargate Project help the US trump China? Leslie D'Monte explains. The division of real estate magnate Mangal Prabhat Lodha's empire aimed to prevent family conflict but has led to a legal battle between his sons Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha. Despite an initial settlement that divided the business, including a payout to Abhinandan, disagreements over the use of the Lodha name have surfaced. Abhishek's company, Macrotech Developers, has sued to stop Abhinandan's business from using the name, claiming it confuses customers and dilutes the brand. This dispute has become public, hampering Macrotech's stock and highlighting the complexities of family business transitions and brand management. Nehal Chaliawala and Varun Sood take a deep dive into the conflict in the Lodha family. UPI Circle, a feature on the BHIM app, allows a primary user to authorize a secondary user to handle transactions from their bank account. This setup is ideal for helping those who may struggle with digital payments, and offers both full and partial delegation options. In full delegation, secondary users can process transactions up to ₹15,000 per day without further approval. Partial delegation, however, requires the primary user's confirmation for each transaction, adding a layer of security. The service is available through the BHIM app, and is supported by major banks such as SBI, HDFC, and ICICI, but it's not yet live on the most popular UPI platforms such as PhonePe or Google Pay. The rapid expansion of quick commerce in India has led to a surge in demand for dark store workers, vital for operations of businesses such as Zomato's Blinkit and Swiggy's Instamart. These workers are essential for picking, packing, and loading goods quickly to meet the quick-delivery promises. With Zomato planning to double its dark stores and Zepto aiming for significant growth, the sector sees high churn rates and competition for workers, pushing companies to offer better salaries and incentives. Industry specialists note that dark store workers typically earn between ₹15,000-18,000 a month, with potential bonuses that could add another ₹6,000. However, attrition rates are around 12-15% a month – much higher than in other sectors. This high turnover means companies such as Zepto and Blinkit could see their entire workforce change over the course of a year, which drives up hiring costs, Mansi Verma reports. The upcoming Union Budget for FY26 may include financial support for green hydrogen initiatives targeting major polluting industries such as steel, cement and power. This move is being considered to speed up the adoption of green technologies, which has been slower than expected because of high costs. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has proposed incentives for adopting green hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization, and storage, recognizing that fiscal support is crucial to meet India's energy transition goals. Currently, under the ₹19,700 crore National Green Hydrogen Mission, the government provides ₹17,490 crore for green hydrogen and electrolyzer production under the SIGHT scheme, Rituraj Baruah reports. The goal is to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030, leveraging India's renewable energy capabilities to make it a significant player in the global market.

Welcome to Top of the Morning by Mint, your weekday newscast that brings you five major stories from the world of business. It's Thursday, January 9, 2025. This is Nelson John, let's get started. India's manufacturing sector is facing a slowdown, weighing heavily on economic growth. Manufacturing growth slipped to 2.2% in the second quarter of this fiscal year, a sharp decline from 7% in the first quarter. This slump dragged overall industry performance, pulling GDP growth down to 5.4%, compared to 8.1% in the same quarter last year. The primary driver of this slowdown is a significant drop in urban demand. City dwellers, burdened by stagnant wages and rising food prices, are cutting back on spending. While rural demand shows signs of recovery, it's insufficient to offset the urban slump. Adding to the woes, exports grew at a modest 2.8%, and the heavy monsoon season disrupted power generation and mining activity. The government remains hopeful, though, viewing the slowdown as temporary and expecting a rebound in power and mining post-monsoon. In today's Primer, N. Madhavan explains why a quick revival in consumer demand is crucial to reignite economic momentum. India faces a stark water crisis, with some regions grappling with floods while others endure severe droughts. To address this imbalance, the government is adopting a dual strategy—supplementing the traditional inter-state river-linking approach with localized intra-state projects. This aims to redistribute surplus water more effectively to arid regions. Currently, over 60% of India's districts are categorized as high-risk for climate-related disasters such as floods and droughts, according to Puja Das. In response, the central government is encouraging states to develop their own intra-state river-linking proposals. This initiative complements the ongoing Ken-Betwa Link Project, India's flagship inter-state river-linking venture. Noida-based Astrotalk has skillfully brought the ancient practice of astrology into the digital age, capitalizing on its deep-rooted influence in Indian daily life. The platform connects over 41,000 astrologers with more than 450,000 users. Astrotalk's financials reflect its success, with revenues soaring to ₹651 crore and profits reaching ₹100 crore in a single fiscal year. The company's growth has been fuelled by a $30 million venture capital injection, pushing its valuation to $300 million. However, challenges have also emerged. A recent shift in the platform's revenue-sharing model has sparked discontent among astrologers. While earnings were initially split equally, Astrotalk now retains a larger share of revenue from the initial minutes of consultations, reports Samiksha Goel. This change has left some astrologers feeling like they're operating in a call center, incentivized to prolong conversations to secure fair payouts. The pressure has strained relationships, with some astrologers walking away, frustrated by what they perceive as a shift from genuine astrological guidance to profit-driven dynamics. The Indian government is rolling out a strategy to transform the northern region into a manufacturing hub, aiming to boost economic growth and reduce regional disparities. Spearheaded by the Prime Minister's Office, the initiative focuses on driving significant infrastructure investment and implementing policies to promote regional manufacturing equity. At the heart of the plan is the ₹10,037 crore Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme (UNNATI—2024), a decade-long program designed to incentivize industries across North India. Key regions such as Kanpur, once hailed as the 'Manchester of the East,' and Jammu & Kashmir, known for its rich crafts and agricultural produce, are central to this effort. The initiative seeks to leverage the untapped potential of these regions to address the stark economic divide between northern and southern states—a disparity that has led states like Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu to question the fairness of federal financial allocations.Major players in Indian industry, including Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Enterprises, and the Tata Group, are refocusing on their core business areas. This strategic shift aims to sharpen their competitive edge, reduce debt, and enhance shareholder value. Devarajan Nambakam of Goldman Sachs told Priyamvada C. that high-interest rates and the potential to unlock value from mature investments are key drivers of this trend. He anticipates this focus on core strengths will persist well into 2025 as companies navigate a rapidly evolving economic landscape. For example, Adani Enterprises recently divested its stake in a joint FMCG venture, and Bharti Enterprises exited its food business. Such moves allow companies to redirect resources toward their primary operations, where they foresee the greatest growth and stability.

Project 2025 is an initiative that has gained attention due to its potential impact on women's careers, particularly in the context of the U.S. 2024 presidential election. Spearheaded by a coalition of conservative think tanks and political advocates, the project aims to implement sweeping changes across various government agencies, focusing on reducing regulations and altering federal workforce structures. Its proponents argue that these changes will streamline government operations and promote economic growth. However, critics of Project 2025, including legal professionals and gender rights advocates like those from The Mamattorney, express concerns about the implications for workplace rights, particularly for women. The project is seen as part of a larger political agenda associated with a potential second term for former President Donald Trump, often referred to as "Trump 2.0." This agenda is believed by detractors to prioritize deregulation at the expense of labor protections and could potentially reverse policies designed to support gender equality in the workplace. One of the key issues at stake is the protection of maternity leave, workplace discrimination policies, and gender parity initiatives. Advocates worry that Project 2025 could roll back advancements in these areas, which have been critical in supporting women's participation and progress in the workforce. There is a specific concern that the changes could create environments where gender biases are not adequately addressed, thereby hindering career advancement opportunities for women. The discussion surrounding Project 2025 highlights broader societal and political divides, often resulting in heightened gender tension especially during the election period. The project has become a focal point in debates about the future direction of U.S. policy and the role that gender equality should play within it. As the election approaches, these conversations continue to evolve, underscoring the importance of scrutinizing legislative and policy proposals that could reshape the workplace landscape.Ultimately, the impact of Project 2025 on women's careers remains a contentious issue. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the necessity of vigilance in protecting hard-won workplace rights. As policymakers, legal experts, and the public debate these potential changes, the outcome of the 2024 election could prove decisive in determining the direction of gender policy in the years to follow.

Chad kicks off the session by introducing himself and thanking the audience. He sets the stage for the conversation: how followers of Jesus can think critically and engage effectively with the world around them. He introduces a framework called the "cultural matrix," explaining how Christians approach culture along two axes: being "in the world" but "not of the world." Ragsdale describes different postures: accommodation (adjusting to culture) and hostility (opposing culture), noting both are still rooted within the world. He contrasts these with anti-culture (like the Amish, who isolate) and counter-culture (those who create alternative communities). These stances aren't wrong on their own but become problematic when they turn into rigid, inflexible approaches. Most people, Ragsdale says, fall somewhere between these extremes, combining approaches like quietism (accommodation + isolation), activism (counter-culture + hostility), and evangelism (counter-culture + accommodation). The key is flexibility—adapting to context while maintaining biblical balance, avoiding a one-size-fits-all mentality. Daniel McCoy then steps in, emphasizing the importance of creating a better culture as part of the Christian mission. He contrasts the destructive nature of the devil with God's creativity, which restores and unites. Creativity, McCoy explains, reflects God's work, combining virtues like courage and compassion to transcend the binary choices the world offers. He uses examples like parenting and church worship to show how Christians can integrate traditional and contemporary elements to build something more beautiful. During the Q&A, Ragsdale and McCoy address how these cultural postures relate to apologetics and the balance of grace and truth. Ragsdale emphasizes that apologetics should focus on addressing deeper hurts rather than simply winning arguments. He also stresses the need for fully integrating both grace and truth, sharing personal stories to illustrate how to live out these principles. They also touch on trends in evangelicalism, noting how younger Christians often lean towards activism. Ragsdale cautions against tribalism, urging ongoing self-examination and thoughtful engagement instead of falling into divisive either-or thinking. In closing, Ragsdale encourages the audience to keep asking questions, challenging their own views and others', and pursuing a more nuanced understanding of biblical truth. In summary, this episode offers practical wisdom for Christians on engaging culture thoughtfully and biblically, urging a balance of grace and truth, creativity, and a spirit of inquiry. Imagine a world where your scrum team operates the same way, holding each other accountable and mastering the game without a dedicated scrum master. You'll learn about Maarten's controversial stance: in startups and scale-ups with fewer organizational impediments, having a scrum master might be unnecessary overhead. Instead, Martin suggests that with a deep understanding of scrum, your team could self-manage effectively.I share my own team's bold experiment—replacing a traditional scrum master with a hybrid scrum master-developer. What's one piece of advice you can give us this Monday morning? Rehan: Hey, Michael, the best piece of advice I would give would be work less to make more money. Michael: Work less to make more money. Expand a little bit on that. What do you mean? Rehan: Yeah. So it's kind of, ironic when you actually play less dentist and play more the owner or the CEO of your company, you'd actually end up making more money. And a lot of people find that counterintuitive, but when you actually really dive deeper into that, it makes 100 percent sense. Michael: So for example, when you're doing your startup, you're opening up things like that, you kind of have to be on the clinical side, don't you? Rehan: Yeah. So you have to be on the clinical side, but in a startup example, someone has to be actually creating the systems that you do in your office.Figuring out your marketing campaigns, figuring out, Hey, if I want to do this amazing new patient experience. What does that look like from someone walking into the door to leaving the door? And that's not going to be your team, really, that's coming up with all of that because it's a startup.Like you have to, as an owner, create that. And so a lot of people make that mistake and they just jump right into dentistry. And that's good as a producer, but then you're not really playing the owner at that point. So you don't want to be your own associate. You want to be the CEO of your company. Michael: So that just Rehan: happens to do dentistry. Michael: Yeah. I like that. So then I know many practice owners, struggle with, streamlining their operational flow. So for you right now, what specific systems or processes have you implemented that have made the biggest impact do you measure their success?Rehan: there's a couple of ones that we've done, but one of the most important ones is what I call. Follow the patient. And that means from the moment the patient literally stops their car and walks in the building from that moment, all the way until they're leaving the door, really mapping that out.So when they're walking in, What are they looking at? So, Aka, what's on the front door? What's your signage look like when they open the door? What are they walk into? Do they just walk into a huge smelly dental office or is it nice aroma, a refreshment center on the side, etc. So, Really mapping out every single moment from that patient walking in to walking out has been a game changer for us.Michael: Okay. So follow the patient. Interesting. I like that a lot. And so then that operational flow that came from where, why did that come out to such specifics? Rehan: I think a long time ago and you might've heard of Scott Luna before. I took a course a long time ago when he was previously feeling with breakaway. He had a thing called the five senses, which was as a patient, what do you smell? What do you touch? What do you see? What do you feel? What do you hear? And all the five senses and just expanding that further. I took it on myself and just call it the follow the patient from walking into walking out.And when you started doing that, you really get to put yourself in the patient's shoes. AndIt allows you to find all the areas of improvement that you're not probably doing, but also really to focus on areas. So when a patient comes in, as a patient, I want someone to greet me and even tell me where the bathroom is or offer me some water, little things like that. Now that I'm mapping it out. Helps me provide the best experience, but then also allows me to create an operational flow for the team to be able to, do just that. Michael: So you created that system. And then how do you measure its success? How do you know? It's like, Hey guys, we're doing it.We're making it happen. And everything's going greater. Rehan: So there's something called NPS. Something score. I forget the word off the top of my head, but just random audits and then getting feedback from patients. So occasionally we'll get patient feedback and say, Hey, actually describethe flow.Hey, when you walked into walked out, what was the amazing things you saw? What was some areas of improvement? And then just asan owner. I like to just randomly walk in and not say anything, but every morning when I'm walking into the office, I'm pretending I'm a patient. So I get to kind of see that almost daily when I'm walking first thing in to see, their aroma?Am I seeing that, when they're greeting the patients? It's just really auditing it every single day and then allowing the patients to audit it at a frequency that you're comfortable with. Michael: Gotcha. Okay. That's interesting. So then when you're doing this training staff, and I know possibly the operational flow is like new patient calls, things like that.Right. And we know that's crucial. But how did you go about creating an effective, training program for a lot of these things? Especially like new patient calls or, yeah. The things like that, what key metrics do you track for that? Rehan: first is always just understanding the why behind it, meaning, hey, why do I even care about this? For example, a new patient call, why do I even care about how it goes? If the team's in alignment with why it's so important, then you get to actually, when they understand the why, talk about now how do we actually make it better or even improve it? Things that we then track is one, how's the quality of the call?So if you're using some sort of phone tracking vendoryou get to actually write that and you put a frequency on that where some former of leadership team or manager. Is listening to a call once a month, which is, you know, very, very easy to do, spot auditing calls where I have literally my family members call my office and just tell them, Hey, give me your feedback right after that. And I'll record that, date and time or they'll record it and then I'll be able to listen or have a leadership team member listen and say, Hey, here's X, Y, Z that they didn't do. And believe it or not, you can actually tell if a person is smiling through the phone. Just by their tone of voice. And so that's one of the things are great on is, Hey, is everyone smiling a few seconds right before they pick up the call? And then just, you know, there's certain parameters in the call that we look for. Like, Did you mention the patient's name? Which is the most beautiful word in the English language is what people say, patient's name.Did you repeat that name multiple times throughout the conversation? Did you offer. A scheduling opportunity. And then did you follow the two concepts of yes. Meaning instead of saying, when would you like to come in? Did you give them a, Hey, we have Monday at two and a Tuesday at four, meaning either way, it's a yes.So we're looking for certain key things that they're saying in that call, and if they're not allowing training opportunities to help get them there, members like that, Michael: I like that, man, real quick, how long have you been Rehan: I'm a COVID grad. It's a 2020. I have four offices and so I work clinically about half the week and then I focus on running the actual organization the other half the week.Michael: Wow. So since 2020. you graduated and then you opened up four offices. Rehan: Yeah, so 20, 20, I mean, a Covid grad, we got tipped off on our education, so I had to kind of learn a little bit on my own. But I was the very big, from dental school I was gung-ho on hey, I want to learn as much as I can about business because my goal was to be my own boss and have an empire really. And so just been really. Spearheaded toward that. And blessed to be able to hit the goals that I want and just continue to keep that path growing. Michael: Interesting, man. Okay. So then I have a question, like when you were doing these, I guess the operational flows and the systems, do you, cause I feel like a lot of the times, Rehan, we focus on.got to get new patients. I got to get patients just in general. Right. I opened up, it's just my family. I'm seeing right now. I got to get more. So we focus on like filling that up and then sometimes we create systems based on mistakes, right? That are we're seeing are based on flow. Is that what happened with you or no you, you created this infrastructure.First, Rehan: you have to really focus both at the same time, a lot of people will focus so much on that new patient acquisition, throw a bunch of dollars in marketing, et cetera. But then their phone call system sucks. So they're getting all this influx of calls, which they're not even tracking. And they're wondering, you know, why am I not getting patients? I'm spending crazy amount of dollars on marketing, but they never realized, Hey, maybe it's not the marketing dollars. It's the training that's lacking or the system flow that's not there. we kind of talk at the same time where, Hey, I'm going to pay a marketing company to do the marketing.but I'm also going to focus on my time on leading the company. And so when you tackle it from both ends you're tackling all the variables that are involved. that's super important. You can't just put all your marbles in one bag, so to speak. Michael: Okay. Gotcha. So you're kind of doing both at the same time. Now, how do you balance your time between producing as a dentist and playing the CEO role? Rehan: Yeah. So I think as a startup, you have the privilege of time. versus, you know, when you buy an office, let's say, or have already producing office, you don't have that as privilege because the startup, you have the time because you're not as busy, like you said, if you're just seeing predominantly family members or, one or two patients a day, utilize that time like crazy to create those systems, because that is the time to do it When you have that luxury of time after you've, you get busier now, you have to buy time. I'm a big fan of Dan Martell wrote the book, buy back your time. And what I do now is the reason I have an admin day is I purposely created time where I have to have time to actually focus on the company. So for people that struggle with that, you know, taking half a day, like an afternoon to where you're still produced a morning. And then the rest of the afternoon, you're not saying.Doctor patients. Maybe hygiene can still go without exams. So your flow is still going over the office, but now you're focused on What actually needs to happen doing half a day, once a week is not a hard thing to do, especially if you recognize the need for it.you have to be able to give the company time to be able to work on the company instead of in the company. That's a big mindset shift. Michael: Yeah. have you ever seen it where it was like, Hey man, I'm the only doctor and I just have one assistant, one office.Rehan: Right. At the end of the day is where I can likeeither have time for myself to focus on, But then you also have your family you have to think about and then you know all these other thingswhat advice would you have for a doctor like that where it's likehey money to friday And then I have to work my associate too because i'm not making enough yet So I think you just described the average dentist, Michael: right? Rehan: And that's the reason the average dentist, if you really survey people, they're really are unhappy because they're working on Monday through Friday. moonlighting at an associate on a Saturday. They're coming home now and actually working on their business and now they've taken away time from family, loved ones, friends, and that's where they become unhappy and experience burnout. So my big thing is. I don't think it's hard to get half a day. If you can't get half a day, then getting two to three hours during a workday, I'm a strong believer of don't bring work home because it never works out for the better for anyone. When you bring work home, you're already drained from the day.Your significant other is upset with you, et cetera. But if you choose like, Hey, if you work till five, three to five is my CEO time. Now you actually have two dedicated hours when you're still mentally in work mode. You're in scrubs or whatever you're in work mode. You're not chilling at home on a couch.Like you're actually still in work mode and you're able to dedicate to creating something for your company. So I always tell people, you know, start with something two hours a week. That's enough for that point until you get to the next level, which is half a day, and then finally the full day. every single owner that I know, they all have some form of admin time to work on the company instead of in the company. And it is a mindset shift. you have to value your time more than, money because you see the bigger picture at the end of it. Michael: So what specific tasks do you focus on during your dedicated CEO time? And how have you seen it drive your practice growth?Rehan: So for example, today during my CEO day I'm focusing on the operational component where, we're revamping all of our, operational flow. So that's the job descriptions. That's every system for every position, every system for every role, every system for. Every task that a team member has to do.So I'm revamping it creating it into video formats. So when new people come onto the company, it's not dependent on me running the show anymore. It's now they get to watch a video, get a handout and essentially creating this LMS, the learning management system. So people can actually be set up for success from day one.A lot of dentists rely on the manager that'll train them or they'll train them themselves and. It's kind of so dependent on a person rather than the system. And when the person quits you're stuck right there. You have to now go and train and you're, you get more burnt out from that.I'd rather create something, spend some time and then let the system do the teaching with a mentorship position created as well to help guide that teaching. Michael: Interesting. So right now you're creating that, right? Systems in your practice, because you have four.Yes. Rehan: So we have the systems already. What I'm doing is revamping them. So every once in a while we hit a level of growth where we have to go and revamp something. Previously, for example, we had systems on paper. I'm adding the video component to it. So just to give it a little bit more of a, more detail, more, takeaways, more tips, et cetera.Michael: Can you give me like clear signs when you hit a new level of growth? Rehan: For us it was when we hit four offices we had to hire Levels of leadership. For example, we have an operations manager. Now, some people would have a regional manager at that point. Now the regional manager or this person operations manager, they have to have certain things that they look for.And so I have to create certain things now for that whole position. You start creating an HR position now at that point. So you have to create new job descriptions that you didn't really have those issues at one office. So you may not need an HR person because the manager is the HR person in one office or the doctor is.Now when you grow, you start having to develop different positions because you're tackling that level of growth. Michael: Interesting. Interesting. Rehan, man, thank you so much. This has been awesome, and I appreciate your time, and if anyone has further questions, you can definitely find them on the Dental Marketer Society Facebook group, or where can they reach out to you directly?Rehan: They can always find me on Instagram, Dr. Rehan Shaheed, or my email which is drrehanshaheeddds at gmail. com, or just tag me in the Facebook group. I'm a part of your group, Michael. I think it's an awesome group where a lot of people get to learn a lot of different things and feedback. Michael: Nice.Awesome. I appreciate that. And that's all going to be in the show notes below. And Rehan, thank you so much for being with me on this Monday morning episode. Rehan: Yeah. Thank you for having me.

Project 2025 is an initiative that has gained attention for its potential role in shaping the policy framework of a possible second Trump administration. Spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, Project 2025 aims to establish a comprehensive blueprint for governance that aligns with the principles and goals of the conservative movement. The project has assembled a coalition of over 50 conservative organizations, working collaboratively to outline proposed policies and reforms. The project's name, Project 2025, reflects its forward-looking approach, indicating its strategy for influencing the presidential administration that could take office in January 2025. The focus is on crafting a cohesive and unified policy agenda that can be swiftly implemented with the transition of power. This process involves the preparation of detailed policy proposals, legal frameworks, and administrative guidelines across a wide array of governmental sectors.Central to Project 2025 is its emphasis on executive action. By developing approximately 300 executive orders ready to be signed, the project seeks to ensure that a conservative agenda can be enacted promptly and effectively at the onset of the administration. These executive orders span various policy areas, including immigration, education, healthcare, and energy, among others, reflecting the broad scope of the initiative. While Project 2025 is primarily associated with the Heritage Foundation, it also serves as a coordinating hub for numerous aligned organizations. This coalition-driven approach aims to pool resources, expertise, and strategic insights to maximize the political and practical impact of its agenda. The emphasis on executive orders highlights the project's focus on leveraging the capacities of the executive branch to achieve policy objectives swiftly, potentially bypassing the legislative gridlock that can occur in Congress. This strategy underscores the importance Project 2025 places on immediate and decisive action, should a supportive administration take office.Critics of Project 2025 have raised concerns about the implications of such a concerted effort to streamline policy implementation through executive means. They argue that this approach might limit debate and marginalize opposing viewpoints in the policy-making process. Advocates, on the other hand, emphasize the need for prompt, cohesive action to roll back policies from previous administrations and to advance a conservative vision for the country. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Project 2025 remains a significant point of interest for political analysts and stakeholders. Its potential influence on a Trump administration or any other Republican-led government in the future illustrates the strategic importance of detailed policy planning and the mobilization of ideological allies in shaping national governance.

On this episode, the first in Season 9, we get stuck into the vast and sprawling history of The Manhattan Project and the creation of the atomic bomb. The creation and utilisation of such an unbelievably powerful weapon changed the dynamics of power globally and the results are still being felt today. The Manhattan Project was a WWII initiative which brought together the most brilliant of minds to conceptualise and then develop a weapon formidable enough to compel the Axis powers to capitulate. Spearheaded by the now infamous J. Robert Oppenheimer and his macho military counterpart General Leslie Groves, the project mobilised an extensive team of globally reknowned physicists at a secret encampment in New Mexico called Los Alamos. There they collaborated on their own theories and advanced human knowledge leaps and bounds in such a short time; focussing primarily on the new school of their craft, quantum physics and then more practically the design and production of weapons-grade nuclear materials and a mean by which to blow them up! All this was being done amidst fears of Nazi Germany's parallel efforts, the Allied forces hastened to pioneer this groundbreaking technology and have it ready to fire before the lads got their shot off somewhere. Unfortunately for the more trigger happy of the US military elite, Germany's surrender before the bomb was battle-ready meant that the remaining Japanese Imperial forces faced the consequences, with Hiroshima and Nagasaki suffering atomic attacks in August 1945. These bombings, which abruptly ended the war after years of massive conventional bombardments, underscored the terrifying potency of nuclear arms and marked the apex of scientific ingenuity yielding the most destructive force known to humanity. The recent developments in the financial market in the United States suggest a daring stance. The US appears to be gradually undermining the very foundations that maintain the dollar as the world's reserve currency. Spearheaded by prominent figures such as former President Donald Trump and finance analyst Jack Smith, this shift in policy could indicate a substantial global financial statistic.Since the Bretton Woods conference in 1944, the dollar has held the position of the world's predominant reserve currency. It has served as a consistent measure of economic stability, allowing countries to protect their financial health during turbulent economic periods. However, recent decisions and market policies, piqued by major US figures, may destabilize the traditional financial supremacy of the US dollar worldwide. Donald Trump, known for his unconventional approaches to policy during his tenure as president, played a significant role in this radical shift. Under his administration, financial regulations experienced countless revisions, each tweaking the currency's international status. His economic strategies often hinted at a subtle depreciation of the dollar's global significance, stirring up conversations around financial sovereignty and monetary independence. In parallel, finance analyst Jack Smith has been continually vocal about the implications of this alteration in global finance. Smith, an authority on financial matters, has shed light on the necessity for a diversified global financial landscape. Elaborating on potential ripple effects, Smith implies that a shift away from dollar-dependency could yield more equitable economic growth for both developed and developing nations. However, it is worth noting that this provocative stance is not unchallenged. Financial experts worldwide express varying views on this issue. While some see it as a chance for financial emancipation, others express concerns over potential disruptions in global trade, finesse of economic sanctions, and secure global banking systems. It is without a doubt that the dollar's reign as the world's reserve currency could be under threat, largely attributed to a significant shift in policy by key figures such as Donald Trump and Jack Smith. As the world watches on, only time will tell the trajectory of this provocative turn in global economic practices. As the US dares the world to find a dollar alternative, it is encouraging nations to reassess their dependence on the US dollar as the global standard. The implications of this shift, though undeniably substantial and potentially disruptive, maybe what the world needs for a more balanced economic future. Undoubtedly, this is a window of opportunity towards revamping the global financial architecture for the better.

This Day in Legal History: Britain Outlaws the Slave TradeOn March 25, 1807, a pivotal moment in legal history occurred with the passage of a British bill that effectively abolished the transatlantic slave trade. This landmark legislation, known as the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act, marked a significant victory for the abolitionist movement, which had long campaigned against the inhumane practice of trafficking enslaved individuals. Spearheaded by figures such as William Wilberforce and Thomas Clarkson, the act reflected growing societal awareness of the moral and ethical implications of slavery. Despite resistance from vested interests and economic concerns, the abolitionist movement succeeded in securing the passage of this transformative law, which prohibited British subjects from participating in the buying or selling of enslaved people. The enactment of the Abolition Act not only set a precedent for international efforts to combat slavery but also fueled momentum for broader emancipation movements worldwide. However, it's crucial to note that while the act abolished the trade in slaves, it did not immediately abolish slavery itself within the British Empire. Nonetheless, this pivotal legislation laid the groundwork for subsequent legal reforms aimed at eradicating the institution of slavery altogether. The passage of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act stands as a testament to the power of legal action in advancing social justice and human rights, leaving an indelible mark on legal history and shaping the trajectory of abolitionist movements for generations to come. However it also reflects the half-measures and overall slow pace of change in expanding human rights that plagued the 19th century in a way that resonates to this day. Donald Trump faces a pressing deadline, with just hours remaining to cover a staggering $454 million civil fraud judgment, or risk the seizure of some of his prime properties in New York. The judgment, issued by Justice Arthur Engoron on February 16, accuses Trump of manipulating his net worth and property values to deceive lenders and insurers. Despite Trump's vocal denials and claims of innocence, the judgment poses a significant threat to his public image as a successful businessman, particularly as he seeks to secure the presidency once more. The looming financial challenges extend beyond this case, with Trump's campaign fundraising lagging behind his political rival's. The potential seizure targets iconic Trump properties such as Trump Tower and 40 Wall Street, as well as assets in Westchester County, including a golf course and a sprawling estate. Trump's legal team faces hurdles in securing a bond to cover the judgment, with 30 surety companies reportedly rejecting their requests. Meanwhile, Trump's financial woes are compounded by other legal battles, including criminal charges and defamation lawsuits. Despite recent developments, such as investor approval for a $5.7 billion deal involving his Truth Social platform, uncertainties remain regarding Trump's ability to meet his financial obligations. The civil fraud case, along with other legal challenges, continues to strain Trump's finances and raise questions about his future prospects.Trump has hours to cover $454 million judgment or risk property seizure | ReutersIf Congress compels ByteDance Ltd. to sell TikTok Inc. under threat of a US ban, the social media giant is likely to invoke First Amendment arguments, mirroring successful defenses in Montana. This potential lawsuit would confront free speech concerns against federal authority to restrict a foreign-owned platform used by over 150 million Americans. TikTok, armed with strong legal arguments, asserts its right to operate a speech-hosting platform, with users similarly contending that a ban infringes on their expression rights. A recent federal court ruling in Montana, blocking a state ban on TikTok, underscores the First Amendment challenges such legislation faces. Despite bipartisan support in the House, the bill mandating divestiture faces Senate uncertainty. While President Biden is inclined to sign, TikTok intends to exhaust legal options before considering divestiture. The debate highlights the clash between national security concerns and free speech rights, with lawmakers emphasizing China's potential data access and influence through TikTok. However, First Amendment experts argue that even legitimate national security concerns must withstand free speech scrutiny. Past legal precedents, including cases involving foreign ownership and speech restrictions, inform the ongoing debate over TikTok's fate.TikTok Free Speech Rights Offer a Bulwark Against a Forced SaleTerraform Labs and its founder, Do Kwon, are embroiled in a legal battle in Manhattan, facing charges from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for allegedly deceiving investors prior to the 2022 collapse of two cryptocurrencies. The SEC accuses them of misrepresenting the stability of TerraUSD and making unfounded claims about the use of Terraform's blockchain in a mobile payment app in Korea. Kwon, who is the brain behind TerraUSD and Luna, is under arrest in Montenegro, pending extradition to South Korea, following the $40 billion debacle caused when TerraUSD lost its peg to the dollar. The SEC's lawsuit further alleges that Kwon and Terraform Labs manipulated TerraUSD's price through third-party purchases to falsely showcase the algorithm's effectiveness. Despite these serious allegations, Kwon and his company refute any misconduct, claiming their statements have been misinterpreted by the SEC. A partial victory for the SEC came in December when Judge Jed Rakoff ruled in its favor, albeit dismissing some charges related to security-based swaps. The determination of damages against Terraform, which declared bankruptcy in January, remains pending, with the potential to exceed the company's current assets.Terraform Labs' civil fraud trial set to begin in New York | Reuters Get full access to Minimum Competence - Daily Legal News Podcast at www.minimumcomp.com/subscribe

The protagonist's surname might be Belmont. We put it to a vote and our listeners have spoken. For this episode, Tom and Chris investigate the new-to-gamepass metroidvania developed by ArtPlay and published by 505 Games. Spearheaded by Kogi Igarashi and assisted by a number of other Castlevania alumni, this title sits squarely in the realm of spiritual successor. You won't find Dracula or any Belmonts here, but the theme and mechanics are sure to remind you of that highly regarded franchise. With that nostalgia well in hand, will the game still be unique enough to stand on its own? Tom and Chris have embarked on their usual hour-long sojourn and have returned with their findings. Let's learn if they will see this one through to the end. What do you think? Let us know! Trump's GoFundMe Reaches $1 Million in Donations 6 Days After Launch

A remarkable outpouring of support has surged for former President Donald Trump through a GoFundMe campaign aimed at assisting him in the face of a hefty civil fraud fine nearing $1 million, merely six days after its inception. Spearheaded by Elena Cardone, the wife of esteemed real estate tycoon Grant Cardone, the initiative, titled "Stand with Trump; Fund the $355M Unjust Judgment," was prompted by Judge Arthur Engoron's ruling, which mandated Trump to pay approximately $355 million for alleged fraudulent activities. This legal setback, instigated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accuses Trump and top executives of The Trump Organization of inflating asset values to secure favorable deals from lenders and insurers. While the fundraiser's success is notable, critics like Scott Lucas, an international politics professor at University College Dublin, regard its impact as more symbolic than substantive. Lucas suggests that the $1 million raised is a mere fraction of the total penalty, which, including pre-judgment interest, exceeds $450 million. Moreover, this legal turmoil compounds the financial strain on Trump, considering the $83.3 million awarded to E. Jean Carroll in a separate case of sexual assault and defamation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This past weekend, DSA held their inaugural kickoff for their new nationwide campaign for Trans Rights & Bodily Autonomy. Spearheaded by the Trans Rights and Bodily Autonomy Campaign Commission, DSA will mobilize the organization's tens of thousands of members across 150+ chapters across the country, not only to combat the advances of the far-right and their systematic attempt at every level of government to remove trans people from public life & restrict access to abortion, but also to advance a positive vision of queer liberation that protects queer spaces, our rights as workers, students & educators, and as human beings. Tonight, we will hear from Genevieve, joining us from Ithaca, NY and one of the leaders of this organization-wide project, to break down all the pieces of this ambitious campaign, how DSA will rise to fight the far-right, and why the struggle for trans rights & bodily autonomy is a struggle for the whole working class.  Join DSA's Trans Rights & Bodily Autonomy Campaign Commission: https://airtable.com/appxkhakxWCUXVVqO/pag9jCfy3jpsn74do/form Support Tech Guild Workers organizing for trans rights at The New York Times:https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/nyt-respect-trans-workers

TCW Podcast Episode 203 - Alone In The Dark   Despite appearing outdated by today's standards, Alone in the Dark remains a highly influential game in the survival horror genre. Numerous franchises, including Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Eternal Darkness, either cite or incorporate tropes popularized by Alone in the Dark. Spearheaded by Frédérick Raynal, the game drew inspiration from Giallo films and Alfred Hitchcock's suspenseful works. It pioneered the use of 3D models in a pre-rendered environment with fixed camera angles, a technique later adopted as a staple on the first Sony PlayStation. Despite its significant success, Raynal departed Infogrames due to a lack of recognition, inadequate compensation, and the directive to create a new game with the same engine within a year. Subsequently, he founded his own company, Adeline Software.   Content Warning: The movies and genres referenced may not be suitable for some audiences.   Can You Hack Your Eyes to See Upside Down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Euwp4C6Wt8A Dawn of the Dead (1978) Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_EviQj5tvA The Amityville Horror: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwa120o7m7k No Film School - Giallo Firm: https://nofilmschool.com/giallo-film-genre-explained Horror Press - Horror 101 - Giallo: https://horrorpress.com/misc/5539/horror-101-what-is-giallo-and-why-does-it-matter/ Dario Argento: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dario_Argento Mario Bava: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Bava The Bird with the Crystal Plumage Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UztVF1nJTBo Suspiria: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPs2ExUL_bc Alfred Hitchcock: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Hitchcock Top 10 Alfred Hitchcock Movies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVoVdKOLP04 10 Things You Don't Know About Alfred Hitchcock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9BS9SJxbxc 12 Common Camera Angles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlNviMsi0K0 Popcorn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ea5-eFU3oA Drakken: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5RlWuY3gXU TCW 064 - The Rise and Fall of Infogrames Part 1: http://podcast.theycreateworlds.com/e/rise-and-fall-of-infogrames-part-1/ TCW 065 - The Rise and Fall of Infogrames Part 2: http://podcast.theycreateworlds.com/e/the-rise-and-fall-of-infogrames-part-2/ Star Glider 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg3uQM83dl8 Alpha Waves (DOS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9qAtVwSIV8 PBS Monstrum - The Origins of the Zombie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIGmsxBMnjA Shadow of the Comet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Dwukeu8alE The Case of Charles Dexter Ward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va7WZT1lVsc 44 Lovecraftian Monsters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDPqZUja9wU Alone in the Dark - Artwork - Goomba Stomp: https://goombastomp.com/in-retrospect-the-original-alone-in-the-dark/ Alone in the Dark - Retrospective, Analysis and Critique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51YNZV5QAFc   New episodes are on the 1st and 15th of every month!   TCW Email: feedback@theycreateworlds.com  Twitter: @tcwpodcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/theycreateworlds Alex's Video Game History Blog: http://videogamehistorian.wordpress.com Alex's book, published Dec 2019, is available at CRC Press and at major on-line retailers: http://bit.ly/TCWBOOK1     Intro Music: Josh Woodward - Airplane Mode -  Music - "Airplane Mode" by Josh Woodward.
