This week, I'm extremely excited to have Osher Günsberg on the show. Most people know him from hosting the Bachelor and it's associated spin offs I was more an Australian Idol guy who loved the on screen chemistry shared by Osher and James Mathison. But that's just me showing my age. During our conversation, we talk about all that, as well as his radio days, as well as getting back on the horse when you're down as well as the extreme heights he hit hosting TV shows in the US. Checking in, May 17, 2019James Mathison. My former Channel [v] and Australian Idol team mate. Former campaigner for the federal electorate of Waringah up against Tony Abbot.Host of the TV show Thrones 360, the wrap up show that airs after Game Of Thrones on Foxtel - the last ever episode which comes out this Monday. It’s an election tomorrow in Australia. Let’s talk democracy, and what is working - what isn’t working and what else we might do about fairly governing millions of people. Come to my kitchen table to chat with my dear friend, and a man that will change the world, James Mathison. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
It was a jam packed show to wrap up NNS last day before holidays!PM Scott Morrison called in early to discuss the election on May 18th – he also chatted to the guys about living at Kirribilli house and whether he’s had many people snooping through his bins…thankfully not! He did say they wouldn’t find much, apart from a few take away wrappers.Pav came in the studio this morning and is super pumped for the derby this weekend - of course he’s rooting for his boys to take the win. Pav has never looked better, his manager Gemma sent NNS a picture of a bull which has taken Pav’s name…the beast is competing at the Royal Show in Sydney – hopefully it takes home a prize. There was more footy chat on the show with Masto stopping by. He’s feeling pretty confident ahead of the clash with the Dockers and he also updated the guys on where Coffee Cheaters are at!And finally James Mathison wrapped up the morning with a chat about his latest gig ‘Thrones 360 Live’ which starts this Monday on Fox Showcase and Fox8 – the guys are pumped for it to start! James Mathison is an Australian TV Presenter, writer, father, activist and now politician. James and I worked together for many years on Australian Idol, and before that we worked together on Channel [v]. I’ve known Jim since 2000 and he’s still one of the most clever people I’ve ever met. He’ll read a paper cover to cover every day, read a book a week, and still find time to be a brilliant father to his two wonderful girls. James came around and we shot the breeze at my old place back in Bondi about 18 months ago, so this chat is a little dated but it’s worth listening to because this guy has a brain the size of a planet and he has this ability to calm me down about things I get fired up about. Y’see when I’m still mad that the Polar Bears are dying and we’re still burning coal, Jimmy is calm and considerate and thinking about alternatives that both sides of the political spectrum can get behind. You can let him know you heard him here on Twitter @jamesmathison (https://twitter.com/jamesmathison) He’s a very smart man, and a very funny man, and I’m sure you’ll love this conversation with James Mathison. James Mathison is a television presenter who rose to fame as the host of Australian Idol. James' very first television appearance was on Channel 10's, The $20 Challenge but his career really started when he won a VJ search for Channel V on Foxtel. After working at Channel V with Osher Gunsberg the pair were offered a gig hosting a brand new show called Australian Idol. Little did he know it would end up being one of the biggest shows on Australian television. In this episode, James Mathison talks about the perils of fame, what it was like hosting a juggernaut like Australian Idol, why early success can give you a warped sense of reality and what it's like to go from media to politics.
